MP2015
Hello, I had my hair transplant 8 days ago to lower my hair line. I was wondering if it's okay to go out and have a few drinks(10 ish, mostly beer) with some friends tonight. Also wondering about wearing a hat, it's a flexfit Hurley hat if that helps so it's not loose but not super tight either. Thanks in advance for your help, I just don't want to jeopardize my HT as I have spent a lot of money on it.
Senior Member ZeoRanger Posted August 1, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted August 1, 2015 I have not read any researched based info on this here. No explicit warning but I've seen plenty of threads that implied that your grafts are still struggling to get oxygen through the bloodstream and they are not as robust yet as your native hair. For this reason I decided for myself not too touch alcohol for a year. I know I'm going overboard but if your transplanted follicles are more frail why would you want to subject them to alcohol? That's my personal rationale... I read comments from plenty of guys who drank and turned out just fine.
Regular Member walky Posted August 3, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted August 3, 2015 Alcohol has blood thining effect. Its not recommended to drink while you are in the recovery period after a surgery.
Senior Member Mick50 Posted August 3, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted August 3, 2015 I think 10 days seems to be what most clinics recommend to be able to touch alcohol, you would probably be Ok with 3-4 drinks but 10 is way too much in my opinion, in reality you probably would be OK, but do you really want the worry thinking did you damage them or not, I also take this approach with using clippers some guys seem to want to buzz down very early on post op as some clinics say it's OK to do so, but no way I'd use clippers that early again it's the worry about whether you damaged them or not hair transplant is stressful enough without adding extra pressure. MP2015
Thanks guys, I only ended up having no few and had a glass of water in between. My clinic didn't say anything about alcohol after the procedure so I was unsure.
Senior Member voxman Posted August 3, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted August 3, 2015 I abstained for 4 days prior to my HT, but I had a glass of red wine the evening of. It wasn't a problem. I'm serious. Just look at my face. My Hair Regimen: Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
