Regular Member Dr. Alfonso Barrera Posted July 29, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted July 29, 2014 62 year old man interested in facial rejuvenation and hair transplantation. He has limited donor hair and wanted to do both procedures combined at the same time so that the hair that was removed during the facelift could be used as well. A total of 2827 follicular unit grafts were transplanted all in a single session. Barrera, A. Facelift and Hair Transplantation as a Single Procedure. Plast. Reconstr. Senior Member Mickey85 Posted July 29, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) I only see a minor improvement... Were the 2,827 grafts spread out across the whole scalp(front, mid-secion and crown)? Edited July 29, 2014 by Mickey85 The only 2 threads you will ever need: Revamped Advantages/Disadvantages of FUE. Regular Member Dr. Alfonso Barrera Posted July 29, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 29, 2014 If you have experience at all in hair transplantation, you should by now simply by looking at the before photos on this particular patient .......(very thin hair shafts, poor quantity of available donor hair for hair transplantation. Clearly only a modest improvement can be achieved even in the best of hands, We can only redistribute his own existing hair. This is clearly explained to the patient and he understands and is actually quite happy with the result. Especially with the fact the simultaneously with the hair transplantation he got a Facelift and a blepharoplasty( Eyelids), All in one session. THIS IS THE POINT OF SHEARING THIS WITH YOU ALL. Did you notice at all the changes face and neck, with minimally detectability of scars and natural and rejuvenated appearance? (Of course we all have cases of patients with thick coarse hair and high density of the donor areas, then the results are very different of course) Dr. Alfonso Barrera is recommended on the Hair Transplant Network
Senior Member garethbale Posted July 29, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 29, 2014 In the case of the hair transplant, I really can't tell which are the before and which are the after pictures... His hair looks the same throughout

I also was a little confused at first to see the pictures, but looking at the gentleman`s donor and hair characteristics (does it get thinner?), as well as considering the pictures are very honest, I think this is the max for this specific case.. So thanks for posting and explaining! I don`t agree with garethbale on this one, the hair is see-through, but stating that his hair looks the same throughout makes me wonder if you had your glasses on, mate Speaking of this, special greetings to our new member Ricky 85 My HT story: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/170355-my-experience-dr-tejinder-bhatti-2364-grafts-fue-restore-hairline.html
Senior Member Rootz Posted July 30, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2014 Hard to tell how good this was for 2827 grafts because the improvement is not much bigger than what differences in angle, hairlength, and lighting can create in pictures. The hairs are presumably spread out over a massive area and there is no immediate post op pic. One reason his crown looks better is his hair is longer and styled better post op. As a sidenote, in the before pictures he's shirtless whereas in post he's wearing what appears to be a suit. Whether or not this bias was intended, just for that reason alone the post op pictures will look more appealing. Doctor your best bet for this case would have been a short video comparing before and after. Either way, an immediate post op pic would have been very helpful. Senior Member Mickey85 Posted July 30, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2014 I stand by my statement. I don't really care about the facial rejuvenation, this is a hair transplant website. I can't see much of an improvement with his hair. Perhaps the fine caliber of his hair did not make him a good candidate for surgery. My opinion. Good that he is happy though.
