Diffuse Thinning Through Out the Top.

This patient was diffusely thinning through out the entire top of his scalp. He is 1 year out from the traditional strip method, where we transplanted 2857 Grafts, plus using Acell. Patient stated to me that before his hair became very thin, He would complain of styling problems due to the thick hair falling forward. Now he's over joyed to have those styling issues back again. Patient stated that his hair feels as thick as before.

Hi hsrp10,

This patient was on Finasteride before and is still, but as we all know, Finasteride gives you no benefits in the temporal nor the front hair line regions.

TakingThePlunge,

Thank you for the kind words!! Thery are always appreciated.

Hi hsrp10,

Very nice result.

I refrain from telling this to people because I have seen people benefit in the frontal region (although usually less so than the mid scalp and crown), and most importantly, it could put people off who are in the beginning stages of hair loss who could really benefit from it because they heard it doesn't work in the frontal area. While fin is only FDA approved for loss in the crown, which is where the studies were done, I think it is preventative in some patients in these areas. I am coming up on 4 years and holding pretty strong with my native in the front and do attribute some of it to medications. Additionally, every doctor that I consulted prior to surgery recommended fin (even the ones that thought I needed to lose more hair to have a procedure) for my frontal recession.

Again, nice result. 2800 made a big difference.

I think fin can help with the front hairline. I've been on it for 7 years and my hairline has held up well. Still loosing some ground on the crown but retained most of the hairline I had before! Who knows!

This patient had been on Finasteride with no help, before surgery, for over a year. It's been in my experience, that it has not benefited in the temporal or frontal hairline area, but has benefited my patients in the Mid-section. Due to what you said Spanker, that's why I put patients on Finasteride in the early stages of their hair loss.

Again, Thank you for the kind words.
