Regular Member Birdness Posted June 30, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted June 30, 2013 If one obtained 3000 grafts on a first strip, what would be expected on a second strip on average after waiting 1 year?? This is assuming going with the original scar. Thanks
Senior Member Spanker Posted June 30, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 30, 2013 Was 3000 the max that was available in the 1st strip? Dr. Glenn Charles
It would depend on your actual donor density, current scalp laxity, and size of current scar. Some of the newer suturing techniques do allow for larger strip removal that can result in a reasonable scar. Senior Member Cant decide Posted July 1, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 1, 2013 Jotronic said that on average, a second strip yields about 70% of the first. This is assuming you were going for the max in both. Dr. Glenn Charles
That is a reasonable estimate of the yield of a second strip. Can be a bit higher or lower depending on the patients scalp characteristics.
