Senior Member Dr. Sheldon Kabaker Posted June 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 This 29-year old female has always had a high hairline and wished to have it lowered so she could have a greater variety of possible hairstyles. She is shown from the top just before and just after the completion of her surgery. Her hairline was lowered almost 3 cm. The next photo pair shows her front view from before and one week after surgery when the stitches were removed. The scar line is slightly detectable as the hairs from the trichophytic incision and closure need time to grow in. Her last three-paired views show her before and six months after surgery showing the permanent result with hair growing through and in front of the scar. The last view shows a close-up of the hair growing through and in front of the scar at the hairline after six months. Senior Member Spanker Posted June 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 Interesting case. I think she looked great before too, though. Senior Member agenteye Posted June 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 I'm really confused as to why this patient has a scar/sutures at the hairline at all?! I thought at first my eyes were playing a trick on me with the first photo....but then I realized that those were really sutures? I am somewhat new to the whole HT thing in general....but what kind of procedure utilizes this approach to a restoration? Wouldn't the grafts be harvested from the rear of the head and transplanted with custom cut recipient areas for individual graft placement? I wouldn't want a giant scar across the front of my head.....but I guess if the patient is happy? It looks like a good enough result/outcome, otherwise! 4737 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 11/16/2012 Daily regimen: 1/4 Proscar (1.25 mg Finasteride), Rogaine Foam (twice daily), 1000 mcg Biotin, 1 combo Vitamin D/Calcium/Magnesium, 1500 mg Glocosamine, 750 mg MSM, 1200 mg Fish Oil, 2000 mg Vitamin C, Super B-Complex, 400 I.U Vitamin E. Senior Member Rootz Posted June 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 Very impressive how the hairline can be lowered this way. The actual line of her frontal hair was improved upon as well IMO, comes across more aesthically pleasing. If the scar fades more this will be a superb outcome. Senior Member Dr. Sheldon Kabaker Posted June 27, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 Interesting case. I think she looked great before too, though. As her surgeon, I agree she is equally as attractive before and after. However, like men who are losing hair, the high hairline cut into her self confidence. Many women with this situation recall being teased as teenagers about their "big forehead" and were distressed about being unable to wear certain hairstyles. These patients need to have a lower and much more dense hairline than what is acceptable for most men. These hairline lowering patients are so very happy and grateful for this type of result, especially with the quick outcome. You can read more about this procedure here, Hair Procedures for Women with a High Forehead This procedure is rarely performed on men due to the progressive nature of male pattern balding. But, for females with naturally high hairlines, this surgery can provide instant results with natural density. Senior Member agenteye Posted June 28, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 28, 2013 Awesome David. I wasn't aware of anything like this. Very cool then. The patient looked very good either way, but good to know this option is available to boost the female patient's confidence! :-) 4737 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 11/16/2012 Daily regimen: 1/4 Proscar (1.25 mg Finasteride), Rogaine Foam (twice daily), 1000 mcg Biotin, 1 combo Vitamin D/Calcium/Magnesium, 1500 mg Glocosamine, 750 mg MSM, 1200 mg Fish Oil, 2000 mg Vitamin C, Super B-Complex, 400 I.U Vitamin E.
