Regular Member snowman Posted January 12, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted January 12, 2013 I am what is classed as thin diffuser, i even suffer from hair loss in donor area which causes limited supply/what is seen as insufficient for full HT. I dont think I would be suitable for one based on previous consults so I guess apart from Meds that would be all I could take. What I wanted to know if there were any recommendations for someone to see who would at least look at a small HT for closure of hairline. I appreciate many doctors do not like this due to creating a hairline that may in future cause issues but being 28 and not seeing any change in hairloss for past four years, i feel i may be a suitable person to go for a more aggressive hairline. Any help/thoughts appreciated

Senior Member hairthere Posted January 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted January 17, 2013 If you just target your hairline it's going to look odd IMO. I would not have a HT if I was in your shoes. Senior Member 1978matt Posted January 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted January 17, 2013 Snowman, You look pretty good with the shaved look. Better than 95% of most men. In my book you should just look to maintain what you have with medications. 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day
watabtme
I'm not an expert, but I don't see any hair loss? You don't have super thick hair to begin with, it looks like. I think that's just your natural hair density. Don't forget that for many people, hair does start to thin out a bit naturally in the 20s / 30s, but it's natural and doesn't indicate any problems. Are you sure you are losing hair?
Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted January 18, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted January 18, 2013 Snow, Are you currently taking any medications? Additionally, have you consulted with any of our recommended physicians? Be very careful when considering hair transplant surgery, because as a diffuse thinner (if that is what's occurring), you may not be a good surgical candidate. Regular Member snowman Posted January 20, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 20, 2013 Thanks for your replies guys!! To answer questions asked, i have been on fin for approx 4 years now. It has definately stopped my hair loss. I tried minoxidil a while back but didnt really give it much of a go after say 6 weeks due to shedding which scared me!! Asides from these 2 have not tried anything else. I unfortunately when to AHS when i first noticed hair loss which not only wasted money for nothing but moreso wasted time which i could have used to halt loss by taking fin then if i had found out about it then, oh well. In terms of consults, i have had one with dr bisanga, ferudini and wong. Bisanga said need to wait a few years, the other 2 said probably best not to HT as when the density of donor area was measured it was not deemed enough. I know i can't grow hair in donor area and that when shaved down the hair does not look too bad, however i was just seeing if it would be viable to do a small HT simply for frontal hairline. It may not look like hair loss from the pics but when i do grow it out, it is more than evident as hair is thin throughout the top.
