Southern California choices

I am looking @ getting a transplant for about 1000 grafts on my front two sides. I've narrowed the decision to "HairClub" and "Bosley". They appear to be the two biggest advertisers in the area (Orange County), so I assume they're be biggest, and have been around for a long time. The cost is a wash. Does anyone have any comments pro or con about either organization to help influence my choice?

From the comments that I have seen on this forum, it seems HairClub and Bosley are pretty bad. However, I have no personal experience with either of these.

In southern California, I have heard the names of Meshkin, Reed, Ross, Rassman, and Carman. There might be a few others. Do a search on these names on this forum, and see if you like their work. You can also search for other doctors in southern California.

It's pretty common knowledge that Bosely and HairClub are your worst possible choices.

Advertising does not = quality.

There are some recommended doctors on this forum in the Socal region. I personally had a transplant with Dr. Umar in Redondo Beach and after almost 4 months I am having significant growth that I am pleased with.

I studied for many weeks before making my decision. You need to find a doctor that is great, not an advertisment that is great.

This is your HEAD. Mess it up and regret it for the rest of your life.

Here's what I did. Pick several notable doctors who are recommended. Then do a search on the doctors last name in this forum to see how many posts each doctor returns. Then pick the top three which have the most posts about them. Then out of those three look through each of the posts about them and see how many patients rant about how happy they are.

My method gave led me to Dr. Siporin who is genuinely concerned about his patients.

The clinics you are describing are usually referred to on these boards as 'hair mills.' Advertisement and PR tends to be high, where quality control and consistency in their vast number of clinics does not. If you are looking for a surgeon in Orange County, I'd take a look at Dr Mike Meshkin. He's recommended, and has really been sharing some dynamite results lately. Like others have said, there are quite a few great, recommended surgeons in So Cal on this site ... take a look!

Thanks to everyone for their feedback! The names listed have given me a starting point for my research, and a roadmap using the forum to reach a decision. That certainly figures that the biggest names, are not necessarily the best, or even "decent". Doesn't seem like anyone has anything positive to say about HairClub or Bosely, so that is telling. I'll let everyone know what I decide!

Have things continued to improve for you past the 8th month mark?

I know then you wouldn't say you were "very" happy. Moderately happy perhaps.

I just did mine on the 19th with Dr Meshkin. Nothing but good things to say. I honestly felt NO PAIN whatsoever during the procedure. Either I got lucky, or the Doc knows how to administer the anasthesia. I could hear the incisions but not feel them, then once he sutured me up, I was turned over and the hairs were put in. It was at that point that I fell asleep and started snoring. LOL. I am not kidding. Thats how relaxed I was. I am on day 3 and have very little pain.
