Can someone give a citation with some numerical estimate for laxity exercises?

Some doctors I have spoken to laugh when I bring up laxity exercise. They shrug their shoulders and say "well, I guess it can't hurt." But I have a read a lot of people here say there is solid evidence that laxity exercises work.

Can someone give me a web link and citation to some study?

Also can someone give a web link or citation to exactly how many extra grafts you can expect to get from it? I have no idea if you can expect 100 extra grafts or 2,000 extra grafts.

All I know is I have tried to do it. Hasson and Wang's web site says to do it a half hour a day for a few months. That is really really a lot of work. It is tiring. And doing that for say 2 months would be 30 hours of work. What a waste that would be if the doc's saying the exercises don't work happen to end up proven right one day.

Also from what I understand every time you yank a hair out of your scalp there is some chance you permanently damage the root, and the hair will never grow back. I would think doing vigorous laxity exercises would cause at least some damage this way.

There is apparantly a new way of stretching. I am going to meet an Italian guy at the end of the month that claimed he double the flexiblity in 45 minutes. He claimed he went from having a .9cm of flexiblity to 1.8 in 45 minutes.

I know this may sound strange but there are doctors that have studied this and apparantly charging a believe 50 euros for a 45 minutes session and from what I have heard it works. As soon as I find out more information Ill let you know.

Interesting Lorenzo. Please keep us posted on that.

rsn, there is a member of the community by the name of Severn who did scalp exercises for almost an hour every day for awhile (sometimes even 2 hours). He almost doubled the amount of grafts the doctor originally estimated he would be able to get. So obviously, it has helped some out quite a bit.

I really don't know any doctors who openly laugh about the effectiveness of scalp exercises. But I do know for a fact that many of the best doctors encourage their patients to do these exercises. I'm sure a lot depends on how disciplined the patient is in doing them.

Having witnessed many surgering, I am pretty good at telling the difference between natural laxity and laxity caused by excercising it. I will 100% assure you that if done right it does indeed work. If you have found a doctor that you feel confident with that laughs at it then there you go, dont do them.

rsn I am right there with you.

I try to do it. I have a bad shoulder.

30 minutes at a time is just completely out of the question for me.

I must be a wimp, but I get tired in like 3-5 minutes.

I am going to keep trying and do the best I can.

At the end I do recall that he had good laxity. Although it is hard to say if it was strictly done by the doctor or by doing a lot of exercises himself. This is strictly my opinion I do believe that it works but not as much as it is claimed. I think after talking to him that it takes up to 4-5 sessions to see a different. If I am incorrect its because its been a while.

I believe nothing works better than doing the exercises yourself. I find that people that have gone to this person seem to have go laxity but its only on the outside layer of skin that seems to be loser than deeper down. I hope that makes sense.
