Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted January 24, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted January 24, 2012 This fellow had 2600 grafts last Christmas season to address his frontal 1/3. He has a good skin-hair color match but like many Asians, he has very thin hairs….requiring more hair per centimeter and even then, less coverage than say a thick haired middle easterner. Shown are preop and intraop pics, 1 month scar check pics, 7.5 month and 1 year pictures. He’s has grown well and his scar is tough to find. He was a pleasure to work with and I expect the hairline, while conservative, to hold up for the long haul. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member hdude46 Posted January 24, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted January 24, 2012 These pics are too small to see anything, they need to be taken further away so we can say the whole face.
Senior Member Spanker Posted January 25, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted January 25, 2012 Looks very thin. He could prolly benefit from another procedure. I like the area covered and shape of the hairline, but when pulled back there is a stark contrast of transplanted and not transplanted hair. Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted January 25, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted January 25, 2012 Dr. Lindsey, Thank you for sharing this case with the community. Does this patient have any future hair restoration plans (possibly a second procedure to augment the already impressive transformation)? Nicely done. Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted January 25, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 25, 2012 He is an interesting guy. The week before Christmas 2010, we did 3 koreans, one thick hair, one medium, and one thin haired. This is the thin haired fellow. So I don't disagree that it looks thin, he simply has very thin hair everywhere. Initially his goal was the case we did, followed by eyebrow repair with a hair transplant...which I was able to talk him out of as those thin hairs you see that he can donate, would not match his eyebrows at all. Plus, I personally haven't seen an eyebrow repair case that looks natural on a man. He'd just had a change in his marital status and I believe meds didn't agree with him. Surprisingly, he did come see me in the summer and had his nose done--a relatively conservative tip projection and augmentation rhinoplasty. He did very well from that and when he stopped by recently, he was a different guy. He said he was happy with his surgeries and would stay in touch regarding his hair, but for now, he had a girlfriend, a new job and a completely different attitude from when he and I first met. Now I don't think my surgery changed his life. But I do think he was able to change a troubling aspect of his life and move on, and part of his casting aside of the old, was addressing appearance issues that bothered him.
