Yes I have been foolish and have fell foul to Advance Hair Studios 'Strand by Strand' treatment scam

After paying my money and expecting my hair to by restored I ended up having my head shaved off and a crappy wig glued to my head. Simply disgraceful and utterly disgusting.

Can any one help with my claiming my money back? Has anyone had success or advice in this area. I am willing to take it all the way to court and beyond if needed.

I would really appreciate any form of advice what so ever.

I am currently thinking of creating a press pack with shots of the 'wig' and how it looked to send off to the media to expose this shan company and also creating a youtube viral video of the wig so people know exactly what to expect.

cheers.

How was their 'strand by strand' method described to you before you signed up? Did they promise something entirely different to what they gave you?

Yes, at no point did they mention that it would be a wig. The term 'Strand by strand' is so so misleading. I have only lost about an inch at the front and was lead to believe that area would be replaced 'strand by strand' Yet my whole top half of my head was shaven and a massive horrendous wig was glued on top. The colour didn't even match my real hair!

After arguing for 40mins over the term 'Strand by Strand' the salesman finally declared the piece of plastic the false hair is stuck into was placed in 'strand by strand' . He would then not for his life agree it was a wig. Unreal.

i have got to admit after watching their advertising video on youtube, not once did they alude to the fact that they sell wigs and the model is wearing one, they even showed laser therapy in the commerercial, how is that even relevant when selling toupees? i hope all works out for you buddy.

Thanks man, yeah im hopefully putting a case together and hoping that someone who has similar experiences can help in any way.

What im so angry about is how mis-leading it is. If I wanted a wig I would have bought one and that would be fine, but I didn't I wanted my hair to be replaced strand by strand.

Its sickening how they prey on peoples hopes, fears and vulnerabilities, rob you and then lie to you. Simply disgusting practise.

I was with AHS for about 5yrs. I knew from the outset what was laser treatment, strand by strand or a system.

I asked for evidence that hair could be regrown apart from transplanting. They couldnt. I was shown a photo of the chap who was dealing with me. He was bald at about 24. Failed transplants left his head badly scarred. No alternative but to wear a system and what he had looked brilliant.

I am a very inquisitive person. I dig right into everything before I part with my money.

I KNEW all along it was a scam and made it clear I knew the score. But was ignorant of the fact there we cheaper systems around.

However the sales hype being reduced to the fact it was after all a wig and that we were all singing from the same hymn sheet, left the decision to me.

I went away and told the wife they want to shave my head and glue a rug on. I told her,

They have all had it done including sportsmen and celebrities so it must be a goer.

I wish in a way I had not had it done and just gently receded I still have a reasonable amount of hair Well more than most at 66yrs Receded back at the temples and a bald spot at the back and greying.

My theory was that if I had it done early while I had hair it would not look so radical when I had the system on. And believe me it was bloody marvelous. A great match with just the right amount of grey. I hugged the girl that did it. It took years off me.

Most of my family and extended family do not know. Only very close members but not Daughter in law or grandchildren.

I have been kidded a bit about having good hair for my age and was it a syrup. I said if you can pull it off Ill give you a tenner. If you hurt me ill kick your balls. No takers no need to prove anything nothing more said.

The only prob with AHS is they have crap asian systems at extortionate prices. ?2500 for your first three to get you in the loop. Then ?1800 per unit there after. All products are sold on commission at ?10/?15 per item for the same stuff you can get in Morissons for ?4.50. Use OZZIE leave in conditioner its the same as they sell but ?4.50

Repairs to units are?500. The staff are lovely including management. I guess they are being controlled by those robbing bastards in the states and ozzie

I switched to another company. I think we are going to get along but I never put all my eggs in one basket and i have made contact with others who are even cheaper.

Better units softer hair fine lace good match you can expose your hairline ?240/260. Self maintained. You can save thousands a year doing your own fitting.

I get AHS to cut my hair and do cut ins as I need them.

Look guys life is what you make it. RESEARCH FIRST its always your call. Ask loads of questions. Hair transplants are ok if you have the money and the trust in the surgeon. You have to sign disclaimers remember. If it goes wrong and you end up with a head like the surface of the moon..all scars and craters.......what you gonna do. Where a hat or a rug or live with it??

I think I will stick with what I have for the time being.

I have noted that replies to threads result in your post having the original heading attached. It may be slanderous and made by the original poster but you also get the heading on your quote.

Hey, sorry to hear about your situation. After reading your post, I checked out some of their advertisements on Youtube, and just like you said, it never makes any mention of wigs. In fact, I don't know if you saw this one, but people in it actually say they are receiving laser treatment and regrowing their own hair. Here's the link:

Maybe it can help serve as some evidence in your case against them. Hope it works out for you.

I was a 'member' of AHS Birmingham for nearly 5 years and did not in the least realise how much I was being ripped off. ?2900 for my first unit back in 2002 and then nearly ?1800 per year per system. I had to fork out ?65 per month for a refit as the glue softens and my 'normal' has to be trimmed plus the price of stuff to look after it. It took some research back then and now I pay ?125.00 per unit less than 1/4 of the price for consumables (glue, tape, glue remover) and up to now the systems have been absolutely realistic and very good and easy to look after. I say up to now Because I started buying my hair units from MHD 5 years ago and they were one of the best companies for this type of thing that I had come across, their hair units were always well fitted, very well cut in and being a wearer and a golfer for ten years nobody had ever questioned the fact that a 55 yr old had a perfect head of hair. The forehead was natural to the extent that I could gel it up for the smart trendy look for going out and let it flop on days casual. Wind, swimming, tai kwon do, open top sports car...you get the picture...But now MHD became Captain Hair back late last year and since then I have not had the fitted custom made units that i grew accustomed to but have had to live off 'stock' systems which luckily the last one lasted nearly a year, and looked brilliant but the one I have just had fitted..is crap. The first time in my life as a wearer I got asked if it was real...what a shocker. I needed it quick as I was going on a golf trip and the old one had worn out in patches (after 10 months). This one had too much hair in it and it was slightly curly, my hair is straight....and now I cant seem to get thru to anyone at Captain Hair to remedy my problem.

In conclusion I agree with Mixy..above you have to learn from experience and do the research, it will only help you, there are a lot of people with a lot of experience in these sites and now there just is no excuse to be ripped off for the thousands you can end up paying for hair systems that are inferior in quality to what you get from those so called specialists (I have a friend that has been going to Advanced in Nottingham for the past 11 years and to this day they have him fitted with a hair unit that is too thick with straight hair (his is curly) and it is too dark for his age(his natural hair is grey now) and it looks like a wig...The opposite effect of what is supposed to be ..eg it should be un-noticeable. And dont believe the negative people on this forum. The systems can be brilliant and put a lot of happiness and confidence into you..@if you only go to the right people@ to help you. I will answer any queries on this post or any other help if I can but please dont give up as there are ways of getting over this life changing threat that hangs over our male (and sometimes female) heads, excuse that pun..and there is a way out.

But one final word for now, life is all about being wise with your money, so dont waste it where you are not getting value for money.

Blimey is it that long ago I posted on here???

I have long since changed my suppliers and am at least ?100 better off per system. Self maintained but I still get my cut ins done by AHS The staff are brilliant people.

I have very fine systems now that last between 4/6 months giving that receding look with 30% grey. And they can be combed back to show hairline or have a quiff held in place with gell or laquer or just let blow about in the wind. Note they have no polyeurethane edge like the thicker systems. You can see my scalp quite clearly as the hair moves about. Full confidence assured.

From removal to shampooing system (and self) followed by blow dry of system retape and slap back on just under an hour. I change round every three days or so to make them last. I guess its around ?600 per year. I use Ozzie hair products and standard surgical spirit for removal and cleansing. I get my contours front tapes and edge tape off the net. As I am having my systems tailored to gradually become smaller I will at some stage remove them forever and just continue with my fine hair which incidently is still very dark on top. but I have a definate 'Fried egg' on the back.

I would like to add that if anyone IMs me i may be able to help with regard to supplier.

Let's face it, there is only one honest way of restoring a full head of hair to anyone's head, be they a man, woman, or child.

And that's through the application of a wig. Or a hair piece. Or a system - or whatever you want to call it.

Forget the strand by strand crap. The potions, the pills. It's all crap.

To the OP, is there any way he can claim back the money on his credit card? Failing that, shame them any which way you can. And send them links to all the bad press you have given them.

Maybe then they might agree to a refund to stop more bad press. It isn't libel if it's TRUE. :)

Good luck.

We believe that this posting has been created by a competitor (s) of Advanced Hair Studio to post contrived and unfair material. It is therefore seeking to discredit the reputation of AHS and our hugely successful hair treatment programmes. Perhaps this is because many of our competitors simply cannot compete with AHS on a level playing field, so they resort to cheap tactics on websites like this.

AHS take great pride in its reputation, product quality and technical ingenuity as a market leader. Whilst some competitors may conspire and hide behind websites, our business continues to grow and our customers still benefit hugely from the products and services we offer.

If you are a genuine customer of AHS and wish to raise a question or concern about your program then contact us at: clientrelations@advancedhair.com.au

Hair loss in a natural tendency and its related to age too. But if a persons is losing his/her hair in very early age then being a doctor, I will suggest to use coconut hair oil and to eat a nutritious diet. Say no to any hair lotion or hair growing products as they have many side effects.

Advanced Hair Studio has tried to make contact with this forum member to organize to refund him in full, but we have received no response. If this forum member is genuine then you would have thought that we would have heard from him by now, it makes us suspicious that this is yet again another competitor trying to undermine our business and not a real client after all. The offer still stands, contact AHS directly, here again is the email address to use:chris.attrill@advancedhair.com.au. lets get this settled.

Instead of damage limitation, why don't you cause no damage in the first place? Or call yourselves advanced WIG studios or something...

2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now.

Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018.

Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.

Wrote a book for newbies called Beating Hair Loss, available on Amazon

Seriously? All it takes is a little bit of time and an internet connection to research the subject before you go in and lay down your money without even the slightest idea of what you're actually getting into.

Having said that Advanced Hair's advertising is misleading and that's one of the main reasons I'd never go near them. I use hair systems but went into it knowing what I was purchasing beforehand. I don't understand how you can make such a major investment without any research pior to booking a consultation but there seem to be alot of guys in your position.

Did you go into it knowing they charge an extortionate amount for the same wig you can get much much cheaper elsewhere?

Obviously I don't know.

What I do know, from all the accounts of people across the different hair forums, is that they charge up to 5 grand for a generic wig that would cost about 100 from a normal place.

To Whom It May Concern:

Advanced Hair Studio has received this negative posting on this website.

We know that sometimes postings are placed and incited by a well-planned forum of competitor(s) - their sole purpose being to tarnish the reputation of Advanced Hair Studio for their own gain.

Obviously we recognize the fact that being a major world leader in our field and in a consumer sensitive business like ours, we cannot please all clients all of the time as some expectations are too high or unrealistic; and on the very odd occasion we can and do make a mistake, but Advanced Hair Studio prides itself on hundreds of thousands of happy clients; many of which are more than grateful for what we've done for them.

Subsequently if this web positing is not contrived we ask you to contact us so we can make amends, we ask that you contact Chris Attrill our Client Relations Manager on Phone: +61 (3) 9662 3011 or clientrelations@advancedhair.com.au. Chris is authorized to discuss all complaints and requests for refunds.

If you are a legitimate complainant this would be much more productive than posting possibly inflammatory statements on this site.
