If DHT is what causes hairloss, and finasteride is supposed to negate its effects completely, or atleast minimize its potency, than why does it not prevent hairline hairloss, but only crown hairloss? if the same hormone is responsible for killing both sects of hairs, why is it, the crown is "safe" but not the hairline?

How would you rate these results?
jazzsnazz posted a topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
I'm considering getting my temples filled in, but results like this would be utterly devastating. is this realistically what it would look like if i had it done? how would you rate this result on a scale from 1-10. 10 being nearly perfect. i have also been advised to get 1500 grafts, same as the guy in the video, but I would go strip whereas he went FUE. out of 1500 can anyone give an estimation of the percentage of growth? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpEQoVml640&feature=related -
Could or would they ever be able to use cadaver hair for a transplant. A periodontist can use a cadaver’s gum tissue to lower your gums which seems like it could be considered “cosmetic” as long as you don’t have gum disease, so why not a hair doctor?

To taking the plunge!

For this site to retain some credibility which seems to be in limited numbers nowadays I’d like to see a response from a moderator and above all, the one in question would be most appropriate. Conflict of interest anybody? -
i'll post some more pictures, but it may be misleading in the second picture because i dampened the top of my hair so i could comb it over and it would stay, so you could see the recessed area, i do think the hair in front is dense but like 2-3 inches directly behind the it i can tell i've lost some density.

also note I have very fine hair.

How many grafts to restore temple region? i've also been on finasteride for about 8 months and am almost completely sure it is working in halting further recession.

an off topic question Dr. Lindsey, but i saw on the internet someone got an otoplasty procedure from you, what's your approximate cost? i'm saving up right now, and look foward to a consultation in the following weeks.

My hair is pretty long, i prefer to have it that way so it covers up my giant receding forehead, how would you feel if you had to to cut it all off, showing off your hairline? i'm 22 by the way if that has any relevance, the job also sucks which is an important factor.

Do you guys cut your Proscar manually with a razor blade, because since they're so small, pill cutters just seem to crush them into pieces of various different sizes, not uniformed whatsoever? maybe i just need a new one with a fresh blade.

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/456510 <---will not work, in google type in "insurance fraud proscar" 6th down, a lawyer actually talks about the issue...the heading is "Insurance Fraud to Save a Patient Money on Prescriptions?"
-
thank you for the response, but I am still skeptical, i have been to a hair doctor endorsed by this network who would not perscribe Proscar but only Propecia, you should read these articles. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/456510 New Baldness Drug Is Older Product at a Premium Price - NYTimes.com

i've been on Propecia for 3 months which equates to $250, and recently a doctor switched it to Proscar upon my request because of the financial benefit, i just got a year supply for $9 because it is covered by insurance, since i'm taking it because of hair loss and not prostate problems, is that fraud, could i get in trouble, could the doctor?

can you take anti-depressants/anxiety medication with propecia?
jazzsnazz replied to jspence09's topic in Hair Loss Drugs
i'm on suboxone, toprol, zoloft, strattera, along with propecia, granted i've only been on propecia a little more than a week, i feel fine -
has anyone ever heard of chafing in the arm pits, i assume from friction...i've used the same deodorant for years, nothing has changed, except i started taking propecia 10 days ago, and this started like 4 days ago. it's really irritating, i've actually been using olive oil to try to lubricate the region
-
due to economic reasons, is it smarter to switch to 5mg Proscar instead of the 1mg Propecia, and just cut the pill into 5th's from there, have any men on this forum had negitive effects due to Finasteride, especially concerning sexual function, and libido.

22 year old male transplant, laser, propecia?
jazzsnazz replied to jazzsnazz's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
can someone tell me their thoughts of Dr. William Lindsey, of Mclean, VA? -
hello everyone this is my first post here, i'm a 22 year old male with a pretty severe receding hairline, my parents are willing to get me a transplant, i went and talked to the doctor, his name is Dr. Richard Giannotto, located in tyson's corner, near washington D.C, he said 1000 crafts, for $3,100, they also said it's likely with me being so young, i'd probably need another transplant in 5 years, my major questions are, they want to do the transplant and ONLY laser therapy to prevent further loss, but from my understanding the only way to prevent hairloss is internally, to neutralize the hair loss hormone by means of propecia, they don't recommend this, but should i get this done, with the free laser therapy thrown in, and get propecia from another doctor, i actually already have the perscription, just haven't filled it.
