  1. OMG, I was at a wedding yesterday and bumped into an old friend of mine that actually introduced hair systems to me back ten years ago. He was wearing the absolute, absolute, worst and most diabolically styled hairpiece that I have ever seen in my life and he is still getting all his systems and fitting done at Advanced in Nottingham. For a fifty plus he had been fitted with a density of about 90% and the colour was a deep black being of asian ethnicity and it was so obvious that so many people made comment on his hair that I actually felt annoyed that Advanced could treat one of their loyal customers like this. The one and only reason for having a hair system fitted is so that it gives you back your confidence and your sense of looking a little more youthful and healthier. You are meant to be able to feel that as you go out into the world with a full-er head of hair that suits your age and your style, in other words you should look like you never lost it in the first place. I was with Advanced for nearly two years paying nearly three thousand quid for a unit plus fifty for fitting per month. I would assume that they charge similar prices today. I started using Captain Hair when I found that their units cost three HUNDRED pounds and they taught you how to remove, clean and re-attach the systems yourself and they looked fantastic..as if it was your own hair..in fact people still don't know that I have a system and I do Tae kwon do, I swim, play tennis and golf (on windy days) and if the system gets damaged I can easily afford a new one with 5% grey hair and 60% density so the scalp is visible and with a lace base I actually feel the wind in my hair..lol I am writing this post because It actually makes me really angry that Advanced are still getting away with selling inferior systems at prices that make your eyes water and their adverts (clients) are walking around wearing diabolically bad systems that may as well have a label hanging at the back stating 'wig wearer, please laugh discreetly'. The so called hair fitting technicians at Advanced should have as their primary goal to have their client walk out of the studio, a person that is 'unnoticeable', who has a smile on their face that beams confidence and feels that he or she has had excellent service and value for money. In my friends case he is struggling at the moment with the recession hanging in the UK and he has stuck with Advanced as a loyal customer who has placed his trust in a company that has eluded him into a 'comfort zone' and he feels he is getting a service that cannot be equaled by another company. I say to Advanced, that if you cannot send your customers out of that salon door that and you and your hair technicians know that they look like a right t*at then tell them that you cannot help them and help them to break out of that comfort zone and help them find another solution that will actually work for them and not for you. You have made enough money out your clients who you are openly ripping off and it is disgusting that you can carry on with these standards in this day and age and you have to be stopped. You should be taken out of this business and made to repay the money you have torn from people that actually come to you for 'professional' help but walk away with a product that actually costs about ?17 to produce, look like an animal has landed on his head and cause people to laugh at him behind his back. I am meeting with my friend sometime this week and I am going to 'force' him to make an appointment with New Look Hair - Hair Replacement Systems ( i hope the forum moderator leaves this address here so people can find this company as a personal recommendation) because I know here he will be looked after and the priority will be to make him look good and look natural AND for a cost that will probably allow him to take his family on a short holiday with the savings he makes.
  2. Jennifer I don't know what to say but that you are not the first and you certainly will not be the last to be treated like this by AHS. They have an upsell process that makes the customer think that only AHS recommended products that can cost up to 400% more than you would pay otherwise are the only ones to use as they help to keep the unit longer lasting and looking more natural. Well I remember the day that they tried to sell me a conditioner that would have cost me ?35.00 if I purchased it from them which I knew was a rip off. I had a friend that owned a hair studio and I asked him if any conditioners that cost that much are any better, his reply, there are no conditioners on the market for that price where are you buying it from? Harrods? So then he went on to explain and I won't bore you with details but I use a conditioner by Tresseme, cost about ?3.50 and a spray in called Miracle Hair Insurance by Aussie about ?2.99 and I have been using these for about 7 years with absolutely no problems. Oh and about their so called contract, I cannot tell you how many complaints there are about that sore point on this and other forums where they will try to back out over anything, so all I can say is STOP paying these bandits and do a little research and go to the people that are in this business that actually care!
  3. Captain Hair has gone into serious hibernation since the scandal over the past year or so and I would not recommend them even though their systems were brilliant. But now the girl who was the stylist for CH clients has started to run her own company at Studio 4 in Swindon and she is brilliant. Her systems are of the same quality and very reasonably priced, remember you get what you pay for and if you wanna look as if a blue tit should be laying eggs into your hair then go and pay ?150 for a stock system that will have over 800% density and the birds 'will' be be following you around everywhere. But, on a serious note Joanne has been doing mine and 3 other people that I know personally for over 5 years now and she is very good and very experienced at what she does and she understands everything about hairloss. She is, most importantly, a great stylist and you will come out of her studio looking a million dollars..
  4. OMG, you have been ripped off. For that price you could have gone to Dr Sohi and had over 4000 grafts and in a years time you would have had a full head of hair. FULL STOP.
  5. I use one to heat my soup! Seriously though, don't fall for the hype it is an unproven treatment method and for the very small number of people that may show results it is probably down to the simple fact that when one knows that something positive is taking place the stress levels go down and things start to happen to the body, eg the hair starts to regrow, a simple and well known fact. If you are seriously looking at a better head of hair take it from someone who has tried almost everything out there, get a hair system, or a FUE transplant, or wait a while and stem cell hair growth is literally round the corner..things that actually work and the results are, especially wearing a good system, instantaneous.
  6. Hi Panda. You are correct in that when companies try to insinuate that Remy hair is better it is just that from what I believe that the hair is in the system with the root at the growth end and the tip at the top just as it grows naturally. I may be correlated on this but as I have always had Remy hair systems they have never had an entanglement or knotting together as I had experienced in the early system I had from ahs. I was buying my systems from Stuart at Captain Hair in Swindon but as you can read on these post he has let the company got to pot even though his systems are very good and the support was brilliant. I am not sure if the regulator will allow for me to give a contact number on here but his ex business partner has now taken a few clients and is running her own business away from all the bad exposure that has been given to Captain Hair and she is sourcing from the same that he was and the systems from some claims so far are still very good and she is brilliant in fitting. cutting and after care. Here is her contact details if you get them; Jo at; (Link removed by moderator) Good luck
  7. Please please, please. SAVE YOUR SANITY AND YOUR MONEY. Do not have anything to do with this company. I am an ex=customer who while at the time I started with them I was absolutely desperate but i quickly learnt that there were far better and much cheaper products available all ovet the place. I started to deal with the Birmingham branch of AHS in 2002 and paid nearly 3 grand for my first system, which on reflection now made me look like a wig wearer. Remember that these systems are not supposed to look like anything but like your natural hair, like the ones i wear now and trust me they are invisble to the untrained eye. I play golf, do martial arts and workout regularly and it looks great and feels great. The ones that AHS supplied used to have a thick hairline at the fron and if the wind blew it gave the whole game away. I also paid nearly ?50 per month for a hair cut and refit. An absolute ripoff, now I do it myself as the other companies teach you how to do it yourself and you dont have that restriction of having to keep appointments which I found strangling my lifestyle. The cost now is ?285.00 for the unit with swiss lace base and french lace at the front hairline using Remy hair, I have my gell'd up at the forhead and it looks great, I re-attach it usually each 3 weeks taking about 1 hour ( i have also learnt to trim my own natural hair) something I do not recommen but it is not impossible. The supplies for doing everything you need cost no more than ?55.00 per year. It is so invisible that my son only realised I wore this just before christmas. So please do not pay the thousands that companies like AHS want to charge you and dont let them tell you that their systems are superior to all others because they are not In fact their systems are the ones that most other suppliers call 'stock systems' that you are normally charged $199.00 for and are very basic and cheap systems, rubbish really. If any one wants more help pls reply on this forum and I am only too please to help as I am a customer an end user NOT a supplier with an ulterior motive. PS I have also now had 3 friends whohave surgical hair replacemeent with a Dr Sohi in Chandigarh and will soon be able to check out some results hopefully within the next 6 months or so. I am considering this route and for value for money and some normality in life will judge by the results that I see and will keep you posted..
  8. I'm just another ex-customer of CH who was extremely pleased with the service and products from Stuart but as stated all over this forum have lately been let down really badly by now being supplied crappy stock systems that make me look like I'm wearing a wigster...Out of sheer desperation now I have decided to order from another UK based company that appear to have very good ratings and a very informative website (Link removed by moderator) After a little bit of digging around I have discovered that Stuart has been concentrating his energies into other projects and he has let CH slip away into the abyss it's in right now and there probably is no return because I can imagine that over 75% of his customers have already gone elsewhere. One good thing I learnt from my journey is that companies like Advanced and a few others were there purely to profit massively from people who were suffering a debilitating situation and people like Stuart had the initiative to get up and offer not an alternative but a better alternative, lower prices, far better systems, friendly and open advice, and most of all the education to put the damn systems on yourself..Advanced used to tell me it cannot be done as really it would have cut ?55 from their monthly income from me. So it is a shame that I feel that this situation has arisen due to circumstances that CH could not forsee but the demise of the company should inspire us all to go forth and search for new pastures where the hair grows better on the other side.
  9. I was a 'member' of AHS Birmingham for nearly 5 years and did not in the least realise how much I was being ripped off. ?2900 for my first unit back in 2002 and then nearly ?1800 per year per system. I had to fork out ?65 per month for a refit as the glue softens and my 'normal' has to be trimmed plus the price of stuff to look after it. It took some research back then and now I pay ?125.00 per unit less than 1/4 of the price for consumables (glue, tape, glue remover) and up to now the systems have been absolutely realistic and very good and easy to look after. I say up to now Because I started buying my hair units from MHD 5 years ago and they were one of the best companies for this type of thing that I had come across, their hair units were always well fitted, very well cut in and being a wearer and a golfer for ten years nobody had ever questioned the fact that a 55 yr old had a perfect head of hair. The forehead was natural to the extent that I could gel it up for the smart trendy look for going out and let it flop on days casual. Wind, swimming, tai kwon do, open top sports car...you get the picture...But now MHD became Captain Hair back late last year and since then I have not had the fitted custom made units that i grew accustomed to but have had to live off 'stock' systems which luckily the last one lasted nearly a year, and looked brilliant but the one I have just had fitted..is crap. The first time in my life as a wearer I got asked if it was real...what a shocker. I needed it quick as I was going on a golf trip and the old one had worn out in patches (after 10 months). This one had too much hair in it and it was slightly curly, my hair is straight....and now I cant seem to get thru to anyone at Captain Hair to remedy my problem. In conclusion I agree with Mixy..above you have to learn from experience and do the research, it will only help you, there are a lot of people with a lot of experience in these sites and now there just is no excuse to be ripped off for the thousands you can end up paying for hair systems that are inferior in quality to what you get from those so called specialists (I have a friend that has been going to Advanced in Nottingham for the past 11 years and to this day they have him fitted with a hair unit that is too thick with straight hair (his is curly) and it is too dark for his age(his natural hair is grey now) and it looks like a wig...The opposite effect of what is supposed to be ..eg it should be un-noticeable. And dont believe the negative people on this forum. The systems can be brilliant and put a lot of happiness and confidence into you..@if you only go to the right people@ to help you. I will answer any queries on this post or any other help if I can but please dont give up as there are ways of getting over this life changing threat that hangs over our male (and sometimes female) heads, excuse that pun..and there is a way out. But one final word for now, life is all about being wise with your money, so dont waste it where you are not getting value for money.
  10. mgem, had a bad experience ? There are a few professionals out here that are more concerned with the products they supply than just fleecing people who can be at there lowest in terms of esteem. Hair systems can be very good if done by a caring person.
  11. Hi all, I have been a customer of AHS and one very closely named business here in the uk and been wearing a system since 2002. I am currently in the process of starting a new website and blog to help steer people who need help in this sensitive matter and to give everyone a users viewpoint on this topic. I suffered a few years of indignation when I started to lose my hair and I started to research the BEST way of approaching this challenge..remember," there is never a problem only a 'challenge" to overcome I'll keep you posted but please keep a look out for me as I'm sure you wont be dissapointed by what you read and I can promise that a lot of you will be saving a LOT of cash. Soon
