Want to sort my hair loss out once and for all

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

My name is Stephen and I have been losing my hair since I was 15. Im 25 now and have not really done anything about it. I don't really suffer from a lack of confidence due to my hair loss, I suppose it started falling out early, so im used to it now. However the time has come for me to really do something about it.

The new year is starting soon and I am really considering a hair transplant. At the moment I use rogaine foam and a good shampoo. Ive never really discussed my hair loss much on the net and I suppose I am just looking for some advice.

I take photos of my hair every couple of month. Ive attached 2 photos. One was taken about 2 years ago (Photo 10) and one this month (Photo 92).

As mentioned Im looking to get a hair transplant to fill in the hairline and later to fill in the crown.

If anyone has got any advice, that would be much appreiated.

Regards

Stephen

It does appear that you lost some additional hair between the time of those two photos. How long have you used rogaine for? At your age you should be very conservative with your approach, and I would suggest starting on propecia (finasteride) along with the rogaine for at least 9-12 months before considering a hair transplant. These medications will help you stabilize your hair loss and maximize the amount of native hair you'll have in the long run, this can also regrow hair. After that, I would imagine you would do a medium to small size procedure to the hairline and corners but you should not consider anything into the crown as you are too young to do that, and with those medications you may not even need to, once you see the results.

I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own.

That is very sound advice. At the young age of 25, Propecia can often produce some great results. Many HT surgeons that I know suggest using both Rogaine and Propecia for a minimum of a year before they will seriously discuss a HT with someone of such a young age.

Best of luck!

That is terrific advice. Finasteride (Propecia) is a must for you right now before you even consider a HT.
