Senior Member Coach Posted March 10, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted March 10, 2012 So there is no difference in results from a generic finasteride that is cut into quarters, than from the real expensive propecia?
Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted March 11, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted March 11, 2012 Coach, Some argue that it's best to at least purchase name brand Proscar (5mg finasteride) and quarter the pill. Personally, I used generic Proscar. The savings are substantial and, as long as you are purchasing your medication from a reputable source, there is no difference whatsoever in my opinion. Senior Member Coach Posted March 18, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted March 18, 2012 So I just bought 30 pills of 5mg generic finasteride for $5. I am cutting them into 1/4's. This is actually harder then it sounds. The pill is the same size as a regular Propecia. After cutting the pill, does this have any effect on the potency, even though theoretically it should still be 1.25 mg ? Also do you cut your whole supply or as you go ? Just curious
Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted March 18, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted March 18, 2012 Coach, Cutting the pill will not affect the potency. It's best to only the cut one pill at a time as breaking the protective coating results in the pill losing its effectiveness more quickly. Bill - Seemiller
mnvbrtn, Propecia does require a prescription and thus, I suggest asking your family doctor or consulting one of our prescreened hair restoration physicians. Best wishes, Bill

alloreel
True, but you really won't know if it is legit either. If you do your research and buy from a reputable site it should be good. Ive used brand name and generic and both should be same if from a reliable source. I've always bought from http://24tablets.com and it's just as strong as the brand and they don't ask for a prescription either.
