Trunks
I've decided I'm tired of the teasing and whatnot, so I've opted to grab some of the Rogaine Foam formula. I was really skeptical at the Walgreens pharmecy, and unsurprisingly the lady helping me told me I'd be pleased with it, so we'll see. I'm 22, I'm a guy, and I don't do anything too out of the ordinary. I don't have fantastic food habits (candy and fast food are staple foods), I don't exercise too much or too little, and I have a fairly healthy sexual appetite and I regularly am able to fulfill those desires. My father is bald on the top with hair around the sides and back of his head, but my grandfather on my mother's side died with a full head of hair, of old age. Can't say the same for my father's father, as he died at a young age. I can live with perhaps some day being bald, but I'm young and I want to live my young life with a mostly full head of hair. Hell, there's a character in a webcomic based off me, and I'd like to continue to bear some resemblance to him. I can't afford treatments, and I don't know what the best idea would be to combat hair loss. I've browsed here, and a lot of people have different answers, but tell me, what do you think? Senior Member dakota3 Posted June 4, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted June 4, 2009 Shaving your head is the only advise you should consider IMO. You are young and very advanced in MPB which means there is a great chance you will progress to a NW7. The good thing is that you are young and advancemnets in fighting MPB have come a long way and continue to make strides every day. Just hold on bro!! Definatly start on finesterides and minoxidil though!!
Regular Member Fookinhair Posted June 5, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted June 5, 2009 And maybe investigate Feller's Platelet Rich Plasma (search PRP). Its early days for it, but Feller is a well respected Dr so if he has faith in it its worth keeping an eye on.
Senior Member HairIsThere Posted June 5, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted June 5, 2009 hey man..I would definitely start looking into propecia and rogaine..propecia essentially stops hair loss in most men and rogaine stimulates new growth. However, propecia is about $70 a month (quite expensive but it works!) and rogaine I believe is only about $10 a month or so. The only thing about these products is that yes they work, but it's my understanding that once you start them your hair becomes pretty dependant upon them and therefore if you stop using em you will quickly go back to where you were if not worse..so it's pretty much a lifelong committment. Another thing though, and I know you probably like keeping your hair long, is that you might want to consider keeping your hair shorter. From personal experience, I have noticed that when my hair is shorter (but not shaved or too short) it definitely looks more full and healthier. When you grow it out especially as long as you have it it seems to get thinner and more stringy...hope this helps! - 1 HT ~ 3000 grafts - Regimen: Propecia 1X daily
Senior Member Marvin Posted June 5, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted June 5, 2009 If you cannot afford prescription Propecia you can get generic finasteride off the internet for pretty cheap. You have very aggressive hair loss and you should do the strongest treatment.
Regular Member Lastchance Posted June 5, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted June 5, 2009 Trunks, Just in case your not aware of it, if you get your hands on proscar/finestride its 5mg so you can divide into quaters and take four days with one days break, hence the cheaper price over propecia which is 1mg. Also at a young age it might be worth talking to your Dr about beofre starting. Fookinhair, I had PRP with Dr Feller today, if I do see any improvments, I'll be posting them up. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted June 6, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted June 6, 2009 Two things: 1) Shave your head. You seem to have a good head shape. The long hair makes the balding look even worse. 2) Get on Propecia or Proscar (cut it into fourths). You are way too young and advanced in the balding process to get a hair transplant. The medication will at least help you hold on to what you have.
