This Gentleman was type VI and got 4747 grafts FUT in 2 sessions. First session of 2876 grafts January 2008, and 2nd 1961 grafts October 2008. His hair quality was also very good. After first session we noticed that he got almost 15% less growth, so according to our company's policy we gave him 30% grafts complimentary( almost double) in the 2nd session.

cheers

Shangla,

Thank you for presenting this case. The patient has undergone a significant transformation, and he must be thrilled! Nicely done.

Dear imun

I have a strong reservation for giving a second scar.

The scar you see is the result of my tricophytic closure technique and it is always included in the second strip.

These scars are the reason most of my patients opt for a strip technique and not the FUE.

I do not compromise on the quality of scars for the number of grafts.

Mind you this gentle man was Type VI ish and will have a minimum of 250 sq cm area to be covered.

so it shows that I would not have gone beyond 20 grafts per sq cm.

Now you see the strength of doing two session as oppose to 1 session. you can do a strategic placing of grafts and can get a great result with minimal density.

See the angles of exit and also the naturalness. doing all the things with only 4700 grafts is not that easy.

Nice job.

People considering the FUE method should realize that it is a scar...no matter how small....most tend to be 1mm.....can be from 0.5 mm upwards...but 1mm is generally acceptable average you should accept...have a look at the pictures from some cases.....you you add up all the 1mm incisions and use simple multiplication you might realize thats alot of scarring.....obviously it doesn't show up as vividly as the strip scar cause its not unison...thought some might argue the trauma from FUE is more....nevertheless there is a place and function for both...

most surgeons nowadays are advertising the FUE...as it attracts loads more patients.....and is easier to market.....hence the mega FUE session clinics .....

anyway, both have pros/cons and sometimes if you're comfortable with the dr...or want a particular dr to perform your case best to let them help you decide which they are more comfortable with......
