Senior Member Dewayne Posted October 7, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted October 7, 2008 I'm at the six month and two week mark. Regular Member yourcoach Posted October 7, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted October 7, 2008 Dwayne, Things appear to be coming along nicely. I hope I am wrong, but I am sensing some small cracking in your patience. Being a whole 2 weeks post surgery and two days post suture removal, I'm a lot closer to last hear the doc say 9 - 12 months before we concern ourselves with any sort of judgment of results. I think while hair transplant technology moves forward, someone should be working on a formula for HT patients that, starting immediately after surgery, lets us see what our hair will look like after a year every time we look in a mirror. Who do we get working on this? I've said this in a number of private messages to you, but I want to take this opportunity in a public forum to thank you again for all of your ongoing help and support during my HT journey. Senior Member latinlotus Posted October 8, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted October 8, 2008 It is difficult to compare since before and after pics have different lighting. In any case, still very early in the growth phase. Beside you should be happy that those plugs are off! ******** I am not a doctor. The opinions and comments are of my own. HT with Dr. Cooley on Nov 20, 2008 2097 grafts, 3957 hairs Proscar, 1.25 mg daily, skip the 5th day, started Nov 2007 My Hair Loss Blog - Hair Transplant with Dr. Cooley
Bill - Seemiller
Dewayne, You can expect a lot of thickening over the next 6 months. Where it was especially noticeable for me was under harsh lighting. Though in my experience, most hair had at least started to grow, by 12 months, the fattening of the follicles made a huge difference that you will soon see. You are looking good so far my friend. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member Dewayne Posted October 8, 2008 Author Senior Member Share Posted October 8, 2008 Your welcome Carl, I'm glad to do anything I can to help people feel better about their hair, or lack therof. I'm feeling 10x better than I did before or immediately after the the transplant, but I was hoping for the growth that some guys have at six months. I can see where the hairs have grown, and are there, but I'm hoping they'll thicken up pretty rapidly over the next few months. I will say that, for the first time in 17 years, I don't think the average person can tell I have had a transplant. While there are still some of the old plugs in the top of my head, the front and crown looks very natural and the plugs are hard to find now. 100? Senior Member dakota3 Posted October 8, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted October 8, 2008 Dewayne, It's hard to tell by the pics how it looks. Are you happy to date w/ the coverage and density? It looks like you have another 6 months to see the final results though.

So, while I feel great that I'm no longer worried someone knows I've had a poor transplant, I do not feel like I'm not bald. I sort of wish I'd went for about 4,000 grafts now but for a couple of reasons I didn't. First, I didn't initially want to go from very, very thin to obviously not bald. Secondly, I was more comfortable with the $10k investment than the $15k for another 1500 or so. I thought about dense packing into the front 1/3, but finally decided I just wanted the most natural appearance I could get with 2,500 grafts. Having said all this, I do think in another couple of months all those smaller hairs that have grown in will thicken up. 100? Senior Member nm76 Posted October 16, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted October 16, 2008 Dewayne, Your first picture actually looks quite good (prior to the ht), perhaps its lighting - or perhaps there was no wind that day. In your 3 days pic (the first one, without the comb), it is impossible to tell you have had anything done - at least that is what it appears to me - perhaps the quality of the pic. How do you fare with the wind now? is it less of an issue? Your hairline definitely looks a lot better now.

Yep, if you read my blog I say that sometimes my hair looked ok in pictures, but in reality every time the wind blew or later in the afternoon it didn't look very natural or normal. Sometimes in picutes it looked like I had no hair on the front top. It is actually quite weird, as you look around my house and some pics look like I'm slick on top and some look like I was just receding. 100? Regular Member Brandi Posted October 20, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted October 20, 2008 Hi Dewayne, It's always fun to see the post-op pics. Everything is looking great so far! Keep in mind you are only 6.5 months out, sometimes we don't see as much growth at this stage as we already can with you. Those wiry or misbehaving hairs are going through a phase, they have to mature and will turn into well behaving hairs soon. I know its easy for me to say, since I am not the one waiting, but be patient!
