Lets talk about SEX...

Sorry for the double post.... I also posted this in the drugs section.... I am in CRISIS mode:

I have been on finnesteridae for about a year now. I take a half of a pill every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I had a HT 6 months ago and my hair is really looking a lot better these days. Let me be blunt....

I will be 37 next month. For about a year I have not had a girlfriend or been sexually active. I haven't had a whole lot of intrest lately....... various reasons.... went through a divorce 2 years ago..... had a HT.... been a bit cynical towards women in general.

Any ways, I had a impromptu date with this really hot chick last night. She really had it going on... There was a a connection.... definately seemed to be a lot of mutual sexual energy going on. I took her home and things continued to heat up. When the moment of truth came.... I LAID A BIG FAT EGG....I pulled a Bob Dole and could not get it up...... I was MORTIFIED..... and this girl has got to think I am either gay or not attracted to her..... and neither could be farther from the truth.

I have noticed over the last 6 months or so that I have masterbated less than before. Additionally, when I have, I have had a semi-flacid weak errection. Until last night I just shrugged it off to the "I'm getting close to 40" self talk...... truth is I am in better physiucal shape now than ever before in my life.... low body fat percentge.... exercise 3-4 times per week.... 4 mile jogs... weights...etc...etc...

Now, I am scared to death. Do I sacrifice my sexuality for hair? Is this the choice I am facing? Or, Do I sacrifice my hair in order to get my mo-jo back? The choice seems obvious. I'm gonna have to give up the fin. Now I am worried that my hair will look funny in a couple of years if I quit the fin.

I Googled the side effects of Propecia and the first websight that pops up (http://www.propeciasideeffects.com/) scare the living &%#! out of me! Could this be permanent impotence?

Any advice or suggestion would be very much appreciated.

First off, get your family doc to give you a sample of Viagra or Cialas. I got a 6 pack sample and it is truly a wonder drug. I'm confident that would fix your problem. And, you might not have to use it every time, but it will take your worry away as it will definately stiffin things up.

Second, if all that fails then yea, I'd get off the finestaride. You've had the tp, so maybe a lot of your growth is from that.

BitingMyNails,

It's quite possible that you could be experiencing sexual side effects with Propecia but I think they can often be exaggerated when our mind is set on believing it will, does that make sense?

If we believe Propecia will negatively impact our libido, we start to experience anxiety, and anxiety in itself can negatively impact libido.

But assuming that Propecia is negatively impacting you, you might want to speak with a physician about reducing the dosage to see if that helps. Alternatively, you can stop it completely, and according to Propecia's website, the side effects should go away completely.

Personally, I think some of the side effects mentioned on propeciasideeffects.com are exaggerated, caused by other things, or mentally influenced.

By the way, I have found that honesty is always the best policy. I think if you like this girl, and she likes you, she will respect you for being honest. Tell her your concerns about the medication you are on and reassure you that you are very attracted to her. Next time you have the opportunity to be with her, try to relax and concentrate more on her rather than whether or not you are getting an erection. I think you will find that a reduction in anxiety will help stimulate your sex drive.

Best wishes,

Bill

Hey bud

Sorry to hear about your problem , Bill has offered some incredibly sensertive and well thought out advice ,please listen to him .

Coming from a bad divorce , ht stress , general alone time and trying desperatly to impress this girl are all factors which pscycologically could ,and more than likely did effected your performance .

Sides from propecia are rare and it is more than likely that its from mental stress rather then physical .

Try all the advice from the guys above , however Bills advice is the most logical .

good luck

Hey bro,

That sort of thing happens to lots of guys so we can sympathize. I don't want to sound gay(not that there's anything wrong with that) icon_smile.gif but I have had occasional problems in the past with women when I first met them, and the hotter they were it seems the more difficult it was. It all boils down to performance anxiety. Once I got past the initial encounter and we had a second date the problem resolved itself. I felt more comfortable with her since she clearly wasn't with me for the great sex icon_smile.gif apparently, which took the pressure off. But that's just me. I'm not suggesting you're as messed up as I am.

I don't know if fin is causing your problem or if it is just age catching up to you(and the rest of us)...and don't discount your recent divorce, which can be traumatic. I went on levitra(similar to viagra) a few years ago due to a drop off in my liido and it works but I also had side effects like flushed face and headache. I found taking half a pill gave me the "benefits" without the side effects. Something to consider. I would talk to your doc but I don't think you will have to choose btwn sex and hair.

BTW, I am on propecia(fin) since early 2007 and wondered if it would have an effect but it didn't seem to. I keep some levitra around tho...just in case.

Best of luck with the HT and the girl.

http://www.cljhealth.com/rize2.htm

This what tons of bodybuilders use for your problem. Deca is a huge steroid in the industry but it causes what people call decadick. icon_smile.gif This rize2 can be bought at vitamin shoppe and other health food stores or adult stores [just stay out of those back rooms]

Im telling you its amazing stuff. Youll be so erect a midget could do pullups on you. No facial flushing like viagra. Its all natural and the ONLY one that works. I also had some sexual side effect from fin but with continued use they went away.

Bill: Problem has been more than the lack of performance the other night.... I just have not been getting errections at all..... not in the morning... not when I see porn... pretty much never. When I have coaxed it up... it has been letrhargic and weak.... you'd think I'd be able to shampoo a buffalo with so little activity over the last year, wouldn't you?

Well, if you've visited one of the notorious (at least 20 years ago) strip clubs in Nashville and can't get it up, then I'd say it's a little more than psychological.

I've heard good things about the Rize2, so maybe you should spend $40 and give it a try? Also, I tried a Viagra sample (several times icon_wink.gif) and I didn't have any side effects. Also, I hear Cealis or Levrita don't have the same effects.

i have had some slight problems as well with finasteride. i can still get an erection but its not as hard/firm as it used to be. i've only been on it for a couple months and i'm hoping it will all pass and perhaps is psychological, but im having the problem with a girlfriend who ive been with for 5 years. If it doesn't change soon, i'll have to look into other alternatives.

Hatrick Rize2 at vitamin shoppe .Youll be amazed. Take on an empty stomach. I know 20 year old guys that take it . It will transform a stud into superman. No BS . You can buy single dose packs at alot of places.

Viagra is more for guys that are dried up icon_smile.gif

Rize2 works awesome for guys that are having trouble due to drugs.

Once the symptoms subside with continued use of fin you can stop using it but I bet you wont icon_smile.gif

Hey man,

I too felt like this when i first started Fin, and i freaked out. I'm a young guy myself (24), so I definitely knew it was the drug. I told myself however that I was going to continue with it for awhile, and sure enough, I've had no problems since.

The sexual side effects are possible, but not likely. Make sure you rule everything else out, such as diet, exercise, smoking, other drugs, etc etc. Stay active and keep a positive outlook. Don't let it control your thoughts when the 'time' comes and you'll surprise yourself! All else fails, keep some Viagra close by

Anything worth doing is never easy

The first thing I'd do is see your GP and get some advice. I suppose it could be a side of Fin but if you didn't experience it right when you started taking it I'd say not.

It could be your slowing down a little with age, it happens, but zero performance at all....gotta be something else. I'm 41 and don't get excited like I did at 21, but, have never had any issues in the performance department. Now my interest and drive isn't what it was when much younger, but, when it came down to the nitty gritty never a problem performing.

Your divorce and some issues about women could very well be playing a role too. I went through one last year and it's the most emotionally draining, gut-wrenching, heart-wrenching thing I've ever endured.

This is going to sound weird, but Proscar has actually leveled me to a "normal" sex drive. I have been a damn horn-dog my whole life. Now that has calmed down. Sure, my level of discharge is down a bit, but I think this is where I should have been my whole life.

Giving me Viagra would be like giving the pyromaniac the Zippo!

Well, on the good advice of this board; I slipped into the Adult Store over in the next town and bought a 3-pack of Rize2.

Last night the Mrs. and I tried it out (only she didn't know). Honestly, I couldn't tell a difference. I was trying to hold off starting, as I heard to wait like an hour so maybe that was the issue. But I took it, and then about 30 - 40 minutes later did the deed.

It was pretty normal, imo. Not bad, just normal. I guess I'm sort of a standard 42 year old but this definitely didn't make me 22 in that way.

I'll keep you all abreast of round 2.

It's all in your mind and more you think about it worse it gets. I went through a divorce 4 years ago which was pretty traumatic to me and after that I couldn't even dare to date or approach someone. All along the divorce and my hair loss I got a big hit in my self-esteem. Then I met this girl with whom I felt very comfortable and like you I did have problem to get i up even though I wanted badly.

So I was very open to her and explained her what I went through and asked her to help me bring up this little baby alive and little by little the baby was back to life and since he is been doing well. Of course sometimes he has his down time.

Clear up your mind, don't hold it in you, talk about it with your partner and everything will be back to normal.

You might use one of these magic pills to boost you but don't become Dependant on it.
