Senior Member YoungGuy Posted May 9, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted May 9, 2007 I'd like to take a minute to officially state that the 3 to 6 month period SUCKS. It's when growth has started but not there yet... ya know? There's no uncertainty as to whether it will grow, that's true, but it's the limbo you're stuck in where you *almost* look good, but you don't. And a week later, you still *almost* look good. Ad nauseum. What do you do to take your mind off this until it's grown in? Is there anything? The first 3 months were no problem, but I constantly find myself looking in the mirror now and getting impatient! Of course, growing hair sure as hell beats watching it thin. So there's that

Senior Member hairbank Posted May 9, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted May 9, 2007 YG- Yes..........3-6 months kinda sucks. In my case once I saw evident growth (4 months or so) I guess I was too excited to notice my hair still likely looked like crap . Patience, grasshopper! It will come. Senior Member bayscholar Posted May 9, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted May 9, 2007 Funny post YG, yes months 3-6 suck big time compared to 7-9..but dominate months 0-2......For me (it was F-ing hard to do this but well worth it) I stopped looking in the mirror of any bathroom w/lights on.....seriously otherwise I would go insane (3-7months)...I still don't look in the mirror tooo much cause I got hair greed and seem to be a gluten in general and more is better then less. The less you look the more will change between views. My Hair Loss Weblog
Senior Member the B spot Posted May 9, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted May 9, 2007 4 months in for me, and yeah it gets tough sometimes!!! After HT #1, it was easy to see hair coming in because I did not have any hair previously. However, I have grown my hair out a bit this time and it is difficult to spot the little buggers!!!!!!! Couple that with the fact that I am about 20 days or so off the pace of my 1st HT and it can get to you now and then. For all you noob's out there.... see...... Even us "pro's" still have to deal with the HT doldrums. It doesn't get any easier, let me tell you. Guest
Are you telling me that this 5 day post op stubble isn't going to just keep on growing into a lush full head of hair?? I know, the doldrums are coming, the doldrums are coming....
Regular Member Bayer Posted May 9, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted May 9, 2007 The doldrums do suck. B spot, Not to keep whining about the shock loss thing, but you really gotta hate it when the previously existing crop isn't around to provide camouflage. Glad to see they stuck around for someone! Bill - Seemiller
Ha...you guys all said it. It's not fun to wait and anticipate, and wait, and anticipate...etc. Looking in the mirror never helps, but yet we tend to do it anyway. Another reason why progressive PICTURES tell the real story of how far we've come. It's so gradual, a lot of times we don't that things are growing. But waiting is no fun...but at least we KNOW (or should know) that the good stuff is around the corner. Things WILL grow....keep the faith. Senior Member YoungGuy Posted May 10, 2007 Author Senior Member Share Posted May 10, 2007 I'm glad that others are getting this too. Not that I'm glad to see others suffer. Well, heck, yeah I am, it makes it tons easier for me! At least there's change in other places. I've gone from ~162 to 178 lbs over the past 3 months, and none of it fat. Be it the hair or the arms, as long as something is growing...
Senior Member Here I Grow Again Posted May 10, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted May 10, 2007 Misery looooves company!! I am 6 months post op and going through the same exact thing (has it stopped growing, more hair in the front and less in the back, did I lose some, still look bald from certain angles/lights, etc, etc). You have to just keep telling yourself, "It get's better from here on" and do lay off the mirrors. Senior Member Middleson Posted May 10, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted May 10, 2007 Oh man, this really sucks! Here I was thinking that only months 2 & 3 suck and I was all looking forward to better times and now I find out the next 2 months are also going to suck. Bill - Seemiller
Haha...yeah, anyone who's been through an HT understand this...and it doesn't get any easier waiting if you get more than one HT. In fact, often times I found myself judging when I thought the results should come in based on my past experience...and it didn't necessarily work that way. Senior Member MrJobi Posted May 10, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted May 10, 2007 Yup Third time around I just forget about my HT and enjoy my previous 2.. I must say the 3rd one is growing much faster and many grafts did not fall out ( maybe 50 50) . The only difference I did this time was use a natural alove vera shampoo from the health food store.. I'm not saying that this is the "magic potion" by anymeans but somethings speeding it up ?? Regular Member AndrewYoung Posted May 11, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted May 11, 2007 Dang, I am at five weeks today and I thought, just perhaps, the worst was over - shock loss, trying to hide the newly transplanted hairs by bringing the existing hairs down instead of my old combing over, ingrown hairs, itchy skin, oily scalp. Just today one of the girls at works said my hair looked thinner....argh, it gets worse? How will I survive the summer? If I can just make it to football season! Regular Member WeAreCured Posted February 6, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted February 6, 2008 Two and a half months here. I'm getting some sparse sprouting. I have pretty long hair and bangs though, so all's well in the hiding the ht dept. I hope the next two and a half months go by as fast as the past two and a half. I'm really looking forward to getting my hair cut shorter and not wearing a hat as much. My Hair Loss WebLog
