Bill - Seemiller
omviki, As Mrs. Hair said, the most pain I experienced was during the local anesthetic. I also found the first couple days after surgery a little uncomfortable, but using the pain medication really helped I'm sure. Remember that pain is subjective. I've talked to a few patients who said how it was very painful and they didn't expect it while most people (me included) feel that the pain was minimal and very bearable. Senior Member badger_01 Posted August 9, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted August 9, 2008 Its natural to worry about pain because there a thousands of tiny holes being made in your head! But like everyone else pointed out..the most painful is the anasthetic. After that its all good..don't worry about it..its not bad at all. The post op was surprisingly painfree...i stopped painkillers on day 2. - badger 3279 grafts with Dr Gabel - 06/12/08 My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Gabel
Regular Member Yogi's Dad Posted August 9, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 9, 2008 All of the respondents to this post are dead-on accurate. The major discomfort is the anesthesia. I liken it to getting those numbing shots at the dentist's office. You wince, and away you go. Post-op pain for me was no biggie. I used pain pills only at night for the first two nights - just to get me comfy so I could get a good night's sleep. Good luck with your big day! Senior Member Dewayne Posted August 9, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted August 9, 2008 No pain at all for me. I don't even remember any prics from the shots. But one thing I think is worth mentioning. I believe your doctor has a lot to do with the pain you feel. 15 years ago, my procedure was very painful compared to the one I went through five months ago. And it was only 300 grafts and lasted two hours. But my head swelled up and I couldn't sleep for a week! With Dr. Rahal, you will be in good hands won't feel any pain. 100? Senior Member wantego Posted August 9, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted August 9, 2008 The only real pain I felt was late in the procedure when the numbing started wearing out. The doctor will give you 2-3 pain medications for after the procedure that do a very good job. I saw Dr Rahal in July. If you are curious you might want to read my post in the experience section. I wish you the best of luck with your procedure. 4374 grafts-7/2/2008-Dr Rahal 485 singles 2336 doubles 1526 triples 16 quads 9809 total hairs
Senior Member Tubs Posted August 9, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted August 9, 2008 Hi omviki I had 3500 grafts yesterday and agree with the above posters, pain really is minimal. I felt pretty sore last night, but watched a couple of movies and eventually dozed off. When I woke up this morning it felt a lot better, a little uncomfortable rather than painful. You have choosen a top quality surgeon so I am sure your experience will be fine. Regular Member Marko Ramius Posted August 13, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 13, 2008 In four years, you may call me Dr. Marko. Ask your doc for 10 of zyprexa, about 30 minutes before the procedure starts. Or you could just ask to be intubated for the procedure.

Regular Member ALDO Posted August 13, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 13, 2008 Hi omviki, I had my procedure done a few weeks ago with Dr. Rahal and there was hardly any pain. The shots sting a little but the needles he uses are small. I think the shots are less painful than the ones you get at a dentist. Don't worry about it at all. He's also always checking up on you to see if you are experiencing any pain, and if you are he will give you more anesthetic. Good luck with your procedure and let us know how it goes. Regular Member Marko Ramius Posted August 14, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 14, 2008 Zyprexa can be used to sedate particularly antsy pts. The ativan/haldol combo is also quite the 1-2 punch.
