  1. I also speak from personal experience, my first HT was with the HG, absolute butchers. I was left with a v sparse hairline(if you could call it that) mis-angled hair and a V BIG low scar. Tarquin Blandford will tell you what you want to hear, but the results are a world apart. Do plenty of research, i wish i had before going to the HG
  2. Hi, Rap84- if you do a search on dazza uk it will bring up pics of my previous work. Manko- yea my 3rd ht was with Dr Feller, 4th HT with Dr R Shapiro. I contacted both clinics about a 4th HT, i choose smg, it was a tough choice as both Drs are world class. I simply felt Dr R Shapiro was the doc to take me the next step of my HT journey.
  3. Hi All, Well this has been one hell of a long HT journey. This was my first HT with Dr Ron Shapiro. I will a brief history of my other HTs at end of my write up. Once i had decided to go to smg, i searched around the web to get the best prices and got a great price through expedia, ??363 for a return flight and it was a direct flight .And i stayed at La Quinta Inn which is only about 4mins from smg. V nice place to stay, friendly staff, big clean rooms and free shuttle to and from airport. Skip forward to landing in the US and matt from smg picked me up from the airport, thanks. That eve just relaxed n watched tv in my room. The next day i went to the Mall of America via the free shuttle, and wow what a hugh place it is. 4 floord of shops and restaurants with a fair in the middle of the Mall!! Make sure you take plenty of extra spending money. Got back to the hotel and rested up for the next day, surgery day. Woke around 7ish, had breakfast, shower and then my nerves kicked in!! Janna called as she was gonna pick me up but got caught up in traffic, they had major snow storms but said Dr Ron would pick me up. 10mins later the doc picked me up, 4 mins later we were at is office. At the office Dr Ron and i had a chat about what i wanted to achieve, there was no rush, he gave me options and his manner puts you at ease, so i was feeling alot less nervous. The plan was to remove the whole of my top scar and add 1500g to and around the hairline to make it more natural looking also to remove the 2hair grafts from hairline plus laser them to make sure they dont come back. By this time the techs were in and i spoke to janna, who i have to say was a star in making my 4th HT possible. So the surgery itself was pretty much painless, but to be painless you need the injections. They used a vibrating tool as they inject so it didnt sting to bad, plus you get a massage at the same time . The only problem i had during surgery was that i was a bleeder even tho i had no alcohol for 2 weeks prior to surgery and none of the medications i shouldnt of. Most people know what happens during surgery so will skip that part. At the end of surgery the doc made sure i was happy with the hairline etc and all looked good. I came back the second day as was planned on the first day, had some coarse HT hair in my left temple lasered out, the plan for this is that when it grows back it should have a smoother texture, also had a hair wash.Came back on the 3rd day for another hair wash, had a chat with Dr Ron and hopefully will go back in a year or so to tackle my big low scar from my 1st HT. To sum things up, my experience at SMG was fantastic. To have had Dr Ron Shapiro one of the worlds leading HT experts do my HT im confident my results will be great. Big thanks to janna too, who answered all my Qs and helped when ever i had a problem. 1st HT-hospital group-march06-750g, left me with big low scar 2nd HT-Dr Rogers-nov06-1500g 3rd HT-Dr Feller-oct07-2000g 4ht Ht-Dr R Shapiro-1500g Dazza uk
  4. i went to HG for my first HT, did no research!!! BIG MISTAKE. I will be paying for it forever in terms of hugh low scar, no where near the number of grafts i needed, poor placement etc
  5. As always looks like good work by Dr F, in 12 months you will be a happy chappy!
  6. wowzzers! that realy is great. Looks so thick n full. Im 15months post from dr F repair/finishing HT have similar style but not as thick as yours. Some outdoor overhead N straight on hairline shots would be good to see. Mine looks good in certain lights N less thick in others.
  7. Hi Ash7, I havent posted on here for a very long time, but when i saw that youve had a consult with the hospital group i had to reply. I did no research(BIG MISTAKE) had a HT with them which left me with no where near enough grafts and a big scar. 2nd HT again in the UK with dr rogers this time, and again dissapointed. DONT have a HT in the UK. I went to the states and had a repair with dr feller. I see u have contacted spex, a step in the right direction mate.
  8. Hi platty, Good to see you found the forums before going ahead with any HT work. Im guessing you live in the UK, you will be on the right path if you have a consult with spex, as i did. He will be able to tell you what can be done.
  9. thanks Bill and hairbank, thats put me at ease. I do have to wear a cap at work, but at home i do keep it off all the time, cheers.
  10. Ta dh75. Exact 1 month. I know the grafts are secure about 10 days post-op but its something thats been realy annoying me. Grafts are in the hairline and just behind, thats kinda where the cap sits, cant realy do anything about that.
  11. Hi All, Hope this doesnt sound like an odd question. After wearing my cap for 8-10 hours (work). On removing my cap, the grafts that are still in place are left pointing in all directions. Could this affect the final angle/direction that the ht hair grows at?? This is something that is concerning me more n more.
  12. Hi Kulmd, Im 16 days post op and had my staples out today. I havent used and dont plan to use concealers. But am thinking of buzzing my hair so that its all the same length(scars showing) as i can wear a hat to work. Hope the research goes well.
  13. Hi frog, who/where did you go to for your HT? And how many grafts did you have?
  14. WOW!!!! The results you've already had look AMAZING.
  15. Hi Chris, i cut my proscar into 1/4 (1.25mg) as its near imposs to cut it into 1/5 (1mg).
  16. 750g from 1st procedure and 1500g from 2nd procedure, its now easy to see that i needed more than this amount for a dense look, but those were the amounts of grafts the UK drs said i would need for a full dense, natural look. I see this is almost the same number of grafts u had. So u gonna post your pre/post op pics?
  17. Thanks. see my over head pic. That front 'triangle' 'hairline' is all transplanted hair from the uk procedures, NOT good am also thinning more in the crown than the pic shows.
  18. Hi guys, After 2 HTs in the UK with poor results i started to check out all the hair loss forums and drs websites. After much research (which i wish i would have done before any HTs) decided to meet up with spex. spex is a top guy and told me what could/nt be done. After even more research i decided to have my HT with Dr Feller. I wont bore you with flight details etc. I did stay at the andrews hotel which was v nice, i would def recommend it, nice staff, plenty of room and is v clean( important for after a procedure). Also Great Neck is a nice area. I arrived at feller medical at 07.30 thought best to arrive early. Thanks PB for the map from the andrews to fellers, helped a lot. There was no one there when i arrived so went down in the lift and there was dr feller, so introduced myself. When we got to his office we sat down to discuss the dat ahead. Dr Feller answered all my questions and i told him all about my past 2 procedures. After inspecting my head/hair it was good to hear i had good laxity donor for anoyher HT sesion, but my 2 previous scars had stretched. One of these(the higher one) was going to be taken out and made longer for the grafts for this procedure,2000g. Dr Feller also said the grafts that were placed in the previous hts were so far apart a truck could be driven between them!!! Next was the photos and then the part i was least looking forward to the injections. For some these are fine but i alwaysfound the first few hurt butafter those you dont feel the rest. The actual procedure takes a fair few hours(i was used to this). We stopped for lunch by this time the strip was taken then closed with staples, grafts cut down and the recepient holes made and maybe half the grafts put in place. At this point dr feller showed me how it was looking, i was v pleased with how dense it alreadt looked. We finished at 3ish(started around 08.15 i think). Now it looked just as i hoped for with good density and a good hairline, and should hide the old work behind the hairline with that adding to the density. I cant wait for it to start growing, now its the waiting game. Last but not least Many Thanks to Dr Feller and his staff.
