  1. The thing with Toppik is that if you accidently brush your hair on a pillow or seat, there is a dark patch and then you are going to have some explaining to do. I tried dermatch, but I didn't get the results I've wanted. Perhaps I just wasn't using it correctly.
  2. I used to have the same issue, without the redness factor. What worked for me personally was to shave in the shower. When you take a hot shower, all your pores open up and its the best time to shave. Once you are all done, use cold water to close the pores and it can help prevent the pimples. As for products, I just use the Clinique (For Men) shaving gel...the razor just glides on the surface.
  3. Just what I was hoping to hear! The sooner it sheds, the sooner it grows back right
  4. I've included a picture to further explain what I'm talking about.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions and replies. I started applying a light film of aloe vera to the donor and recipient area today. I noticed that some areas in the recipient area were missing hairs yesterday afternoon. There was no blood or pain as some have described an actual loss of graft. Is this an early sign of shedding? The loss isin't consistent, its sort of in very small patches. FYI, my procedure was last Thursday (3/27)
  6. Thanks for the reply Bill! I've been following Dr. Feller's post-op directions word for word. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
  7. Maybe you can post some before pictures and some current pictures so that we can compare the two. It is possible that you are a late bloomer especially if you have slow growth to begin with. Personally, I'm surprised that you have "no growth" at this stage.
  8. I'm at Day 5 post-op. I've been washing my hair once a day with a 16oz cup and being very careful how I sleep. I still sleep at about a 45 degree angle. No sun, wear a very loose fitting hat when I'm outside. Is there anything else I should do? When should I start the aloe vera? Also, I've read that you have to keep the recipient area moist as much as possible. Do you use aloe vera or Vitamin E or anything else?

  10. I would wait a minimum of 10 days for any direct pressure. I use the styrofoam method and plan on doing so as long as possible. Luckily, I don't have any major scabs yets, so I'm hoping I don't have to do much rubbing. I might just soak my head in the tub to loosen the scabs up if they develop.
  11. notgoing - Spoke to the dermatologist about it and she biopsied two spots and apparently the tests show that an allergic reaction was evident. Not sure what the reason was, but she advised that I stop taking the Propecia and re-test in about 4-6 weeks.
  12. Congrats on coming this far! I'm counting down the days until I can get the staples removed. I have no feeling above the strip up until the crown area and my head feels tight. Initially, I was thinking of doing the crown as well to minimize the down-time and discussed this with Dr. Feller. He recommended that I wait for the remainder just to see if the current hairs that I have on my crown as going to stick around or not. Otherwise, I may have blotches of bald spots which could make things look worse. Once the staples are out, I'm going to start Rogaine foam 2% and see if that does anything. Either way, I plan on working on the crown area next year and hopefully that will be the end. Heal well and grow quickly!
  13. FYI, I've finally set-up a blog to show some pictures. I have pics pre-HT, day of and 4 days later. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=689
  14. I'm also waiting for the donor and recipient areas to heal up. I have this buzzed area around the donor which is a dead give away. I'm hoping the hat covers it, but it may be a close call. Best thing to do would be to eat healthy, stick to your regimine and try not to worry too much about it. Just these tips alone can help make a huge difference, in my opinion.
  15. ha-ha, yea I was watching the YES network and thats where it was. I'm 2 days post-op and going to start rogain 2% in a few days. Also, using Revita. Apparently, Propecia has given me a slight rash and I've been using it for 3 months and no difference. Is 3 months enough time?
  16. I saw a commercial on the tube about procede. Apparently, its similiar to Toppik, but is only used every 90 days. Has anyone tried this and care to share their experience?

  18. Thanks Spex, I'm doing everything possible to heal as quickly as possible!
  19. Debt can be beneficial from a cost of capital standpoint in a number of instances. If your individual asset portfolio has cash and you are deciding whether or not to use the cash or take on debt, you must consider the cost of capital. For example, if you take $10K and invest it in an asset class that will provide you with a return above the cost of debt, after taxes, you would be better off using the debt. Keep in mind, this also is dependent on your personal risk apetite.
  20. Thanks for the responses guys. I'm one day post-op with Dr. Feller and so far so good. I'm going to start the MSM 1500 and see what happens. I figured if it doesn't help the hair, atleast it will keep the joints in check Any advice on when to start aloe vera?
  21. I had my initial hair transplant procedure with Dr. Feller yesterday. I got to the office around 7:30 and we got down to business. We discussed the plan and our goal of 3,000 grafts and he drew the approximate placement areas and took a number of pictures. We talked about increasing the total number of grafts and he advised that I stick to the 3K to cover the front part of my head. Though he could have easily gone up, he recommended that I keep my reserve just in case things get worse later on, since I'm only 28. The strip area was buzzed down and Dr. F drew the strip that was to be used. We then went to another room and I lay in a massage chair as the local anesthesia was applied. This was the most painful part of the day. If I were to describe them, they felt like little pinches in the scalp. Dr. F then cut the strip and the techs began harvesting the grafts. He then applied some local anesthesia to the recipient areas and started making the necessary incisions. During the graft placement process, I had two techs working on me the entire time while a third provided irrigation to the area to keep it moist. Dr. F would pop in and out to double-check things and make sure we were on track. At the end of the day, we got about 3,168 grafts. After the grafts were all placed, he did a final check and I got the post-op instructions verbally and in writing. He also took post-op procedures at the same angles as the initial pictures from comparison purposes. My experience with Dr. Feller and his staff was phenomenal and would highly recommend him and his staff to those who are considering an HT!
