  1. It is manufacted by primordial performance, the same people who made dermacrine sustain (now called sustain alpha). Rules say not to post anything of commercial nature so I will not post a link. Google up dermacrine and go to the site and look at the product called toco-8. This is not a snake oil company and they have a pretty good reputation at anabolicminds.com. For those who like to look at specifics, here is a link to the patent information on the formula: http://www.google.com/patents?id=AtF_AAAAEBAJ&dq=7211274

  3. Yeah something that seeps into the follicles and has DHT receptor modulationg properties. Such as that the molecule would bind to the receptor like DHT would, but it would have much weaker or no action. This way circulating DHT will not be able to bind to the receptor. I think RU-5884 might work this way.
  4. I still am really, but there's no denying how impressive these pictures are, I figure that since I'm better off to begin with than these guys and since I'm still young and not losing hair at a fast rate at all and have plenty of vellous hairs I might possibly have some decent results with just using minoxidil, ketaconazole, and possibly topical spironolactone. The guy on the english forum also says that he uses a special made cream that's made in Asia that has anti-inflammatory and anti-DHT properties.
  5. These are really impressive, I just came across these doing google image searches for spectral DNC and xandrox, both these guys used a combination of minoxidil and finasteride apparently. Both these guys were worse than me to begin with, so it does make things look pretty hopeful. This one is in French and supposedly it only took the guy 3 months http://forum.doctissimo.fr/sante/calvitie-cheveux/big-t...t-sujet_154183_1.htm Here's another one in regular English, you have to scroll down to see the pictures. http://www.regrowth.com/hairloss-forums/viewthread.cfm?f=6&t=15598 That last guy had a good hairline to begin with but that French guy is nothing short of amazing.
  6. Arimidex preventing hair loss? The idea of that seems really interesting. There's a bunch of drugs like arimidex, aromasin, clomid, nolvadex, and some newer ones coming out like Evista, that are pretty effective at controlling estrogen. You seem like a pretty smart guy and I'm happy to see someone like you on here. One thing that I've wondered is if it might actually be more beneficial to take propecia in combination with arimidex and at the same time prevent unwanted estrogenic side effects. I've been using the supplement resveratrol which is a natural side-effect free estrogen modulator. If I can give credit to one product, even though it still took me months to recover, it would be dermacrine sustain. The stuff helped me to fully regain my libido, not to mention shoot intense loads like never before, and the reservoir never seems to dry out either. But my point is that my testosterone level was shot for someone my age. I take it that with the increased libido and well-being my testosterone is climbing back up to normal. Here's the thing that really gets me though: I have not noticed any bit of acceleration of hair loss that one would think you get from boosting your levels of testosterone. Not only that but any peach fuzz gains I've made don't fall out easily either, even if I haven't used any minoxidil for over 2 weeks. I am seriously thinking of using a dedicated minoxidil regimen to regrow as much as I can, and then stop and see if the regrowth starts falling out again. To many this may sound like a bad idea, but keep in mind I am only 20 years old and any loss of hair hasn't really happened in my family at my age, unless you count my overweight cousin on my dad's side who is a year younger than me, and he's got noticeably worse recession than I do (keep in mind I'm only 20). There is definitely some stuff that that's happening on the cellular level that we don't know about, or we are just not being told about it to preserve revenues. Here is a good link explaining arimidex and some things about the endocrine system, I highly suggest you read some of the links to forum posts on the page: http://www.farrellmanual.com/drugs/arimidex.htm
  7. What the man says makes sense. It is true that DHT controls estrogen, that is a fact. One of the reasons many men get side effects from propecia is that when DHT is inhibited, the body normally produces more testosterone in an attempt to re-establish homeostasis, when this happens, the excess testosterone gets converted to estradiol (Estrogen) and since there is no DHT to regulate it, it causes some nasty things to happen such as gyno and ED. My theory is that in a worst case scenario when the body is already producing quite a bit of testosterone, finasteride causes the body to not be able to produce as much testosterone anymore because of exhaustion. Thus causing the persistent side effects that a minority of men experience (I don't care what the literature says this is a fact). Good diet and exercise can definitely reduce estrogen, and I have a strong belief that the quality of your health or how stressed out you may be is a factor in hair loss. This isn't exactly the sort of thing drug companies can cash in on. Anti-estrogen drugs generally have some side effects of their own, not only that but I haven't heard of anyone regrowing hair cause of it. But then again hormones are the cause of hair loss, just because you take the hormones out of the equation doesn't mean you will regrow hair, though it may stop it, even still there's a post on another forum of a guy whose gone as far as to value his hair more than his own sexual well-being and is taking combinations of finasteride, dutasteride, even oral spironolactone along with minoxidil and he's still losing hair. I have read that Estrogen can also cause problems with the prostate.
  8. Yeah actually my face and skin quality was not as good. Fortunately this has pretty much fully reversed itself. This is supposed to be due to an increase in cortisol levels because of the drug, and fellow forum member blondie pointed this out to me and gave me a scientific report on it. Men have reported looking and feeling older because of this shit. Feel lucky you're not the guy who started sprouting gray pubes cause of the stuff. As for topical spironolactone, I've actually read some pretty good forum posts about it on other forums. Supposedly it doesn't really do anything to regrow hair but does stop the miniaturization process as it is a very potent androgen blocker. I think using it topically might have some risks since there aren't really any studies on it in this way, and people have reported some bad side effects using the topical anti-androgen flutamide. Honestly I'm scared even of the azelaic acid in xandrox since stuff can significantly be absorbed through the skin. I'm thinking I may switch to spectral DNC, the retin-a in the stuff definitely makes my forehead look cleaner and better and it is known to have anti-aging properties in the skin. Oh yes and there was a study done on topical spironolactone, though it is in a forum post which might decrease its credibility, although it looks pretty legit. http://www.hairsite4.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&f...ic_id=1039&mode=full Also a nice little article on spironolactone from another popular hair loss site: http://www.farrellmanual.com/topical/spironolactone.htm
  9. I personally have no experience with spironolactone, but it is believed to be pretty safe when applied topically. Orally, you really don't ever want to take it unless you have a desire to be a tranny or have some serious cardiovascular problems.
  10. As for depression being a factor, I doubt that. As for balody, there are two things that must be kept in mind: the reference ranges for normal hormonal levels don't mean much, your testosterone levels need to be in the upper one third of the range, especially at the age of 19. Which brings me to my next point, balody is an older guy so there are other factors to go along with that (no offense balody). I've gone through depression back when I had a perfect head of hair, it definitely didn't make me want to have sex less. If anything, sex would help my mood improve a lot.
  11. As soon as I read this post I knew you guys would think it's me. But here is some advice and insight I can give right now. For more of your hair falling out, I'm really sorry to say that it probably won't grow back, you could try using stuff like minoxidil, nizoral, and spironolactone. The reason for this is that while you're on finasteride your body tries to fight it by producing more of the 5-alpha reductase enzyme. When you got off the drug, your blood got flooded with DHT, and I think it might be a while before this gets to re-equalize. They oughta be coming out with something to give us our hair back by the time we're 30 though. The good news is that 5-6 weeks is still pretty early to tell whether the side effects are gonna last. I think the consensus is that if you're under 25 your body has a much better chance of recovering. There's a really good chance that within 6 months you'll be fine. You might want to consider getting a thorough blood test done, a lot of doctors may deny you unfortunately, so you may have to find an independent lab who does it for you. With health insurance it shouldn't be too expensive. There's some decent information at http://www.propeciahelp.com An underlying cause is a possibility. Try not to let things get you down, but if you can't help it do not take anti-depressants. Anti-depressants will not help your libido in any way. For a natural alternative you could try supplementing with St John's Wort. If you need to talk to me at all for any reason you can send me a private message.
  12. Those "natural hair-growth techniques" look like nothing but scams, if those things were for real, it would be all over multiple forums and you probably wouldn't need to buy a stupid e-book since someone would have posted a FAQ or something on it that's free to read.
  13. The truth is the reference range for "normal" is for men anywhere between the ages of 18-80, so you very well could be within the reference range yet have a level that is somewhat low, it's a faulty system, and I think Denmark or something like that is the only country that's actually begun implementing reference ranges according to age. Perhaps you could send me the numbers via a private message? You don't have to but I would highly appreciate it, all I want to see is the testosterone levels. Also it's a shame you didn't get estradiol or other estrogens tested, I have a belief that finasteride increases levels of estrogen in all men, regardless of whether you can feel it or not. This is the reason for something like 90% of the side effects experienced by men, as more testosterone is produced in the body while on fin, but the excess testosterone gets converted to estrogen via the aromatase enzyme, for me and a few others the testosterone unexplainably plummeted after ceasing the drug though. Progesterone would also be a nice result to see, as I believe that progesterone also gets raised, once again, whether you can feel it or not, since 5-alpha reductase does have a role in converting progesterone to something else, an increased level of circulating progesterone results in an increased number of estrogen receptors within the body, this is something that is not desired. Check out the following link... http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/cgi/content/full/288/2/679 As for side effects statistics, take this into mind: Merck suggests as do many on this forum recommend, that side effects go away with continued use of finasteride. This statement is false according to Merck's own numbers, as the following link shows this: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/urology/archive/1620.html I'm still happy I got anything, but I think I might have to see if anyone is willing to submit results in other forums, the guys over there seem to be younger too, they actually recognized the origins of my nick and avatar.
  14. I remember reading about a few people who say they apply minoxidil before they take a shower. What I'm wondering is if this is effective at all. I know that some preparations contain retinoic acid (Retin-A) that is supposed to help make it absorb better. So is there anyone who does it this way and if it reduces effectiveness at all?
  15. Just for the record I will never try finasteride again, and I actually tried using it half a pill every other day and it still didn't work. It is nothing short of weak chemical castration. As for xandrox, it does have some effects on longevity as (I've said this before) azelaic acid is proven to fully inhibit DHT in the skin. Go to the following link to see the study that proves this. Spironolactone goes the extra yard and even binds with the DHT receptors shielding them from actual DHT. But using something that transvestites take to make them more womanly makes me a bit cautious about using it, plus I hear it's a hassle and it smells bad. So here's the link on the study of azelaic acid and zinc on the skin. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&Cmd=...anel.Pubmed_RVDocSum
  16. I had a very rough experience with finasteride and sexual side effects that lasted months even after I quit the drug, so I'm afraid that this is not an option for me. As for everything else I've done extensive research on that as well. But I do appreciate your effort at helping me out. I just feel kinda pissed off that I'm not old enough to be a candidate for a hair transplant, although I have read about a forelock transplant, which I guess is the act of transplanting hair from the middle forelock onto the sides of the hairline, so if I really do go bald those hairs will fall out anyways and I won't end up looking like a freak. Personally I'd rather have a clean bald head instead of having an island of thin frizzy hairs in the middle, but I doubt that will ever happen as that doesn't really run in my family.
  17. Q101 is a huge radio station where I live, which would be the city of Chicago. Apparently they're having a contest where people vote in a winner who gets a free full head of hair, how exactly I don't know as I didn't read it and I gotta get going pretty soon. But anyways I just thought it might be interesting. http://www.q101.com/baldies/browse.aspx

  19. Man I just had a haircut today, and it pisses me off so much that I can't have a hairstyle that would give me such a significant amount of sex appeal. I've got no problem with the right side of my head, but it looks like ants are eating away at a small portion of the left temple. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels like their almost gonna cry after the stylist slaps on the dreaded hair gel or mousse. If I started losing my hair when I was like 35 or something I really wouldn't care at all, I'd just see it as a natural progression of aging and I'm sure my skin and face would go along to complement it. But noticing it when I'm only 19 and still a teenager is probably one of the biggest slaps in the face life has ever given me. I never thought this would happen to me, and growing up I always imagined myself as a handsome, confident man in my 20s. I've seen quite a few before and after pictures of men who've been using topicals and whatnot, and I've seen some very dramatic improvement on the top of the head. But the hairline seems like it's some sort of forsaken zone. What I'd like to know is if there's anyone out there who's used things like minoxidil, ketoconazole, finasteride, or even spironolactone and very significantly regrew the hairline to the point that one doesn't need to hide it anymore. I'd especially be happy to know if this was someone who didn't lose much hair to begin with, because I personally haven't and many people still consider me to have a full head of hair, even though this is probably because I've gotten to be pretty good at hiding it. I'm definitely gonna start being pretty dedicated about using the xandrox solution morning and before bed, I'll probably add in spectral DNC sometimes too just for the Retin-A and other ingredients in it. If all else fails I'm thinking I might just grow out my hair to the point where the bangs come down and my hairline is almost always not visible, possibly to the point that the hair on top of my head comes down below my chin. I may even consider adding in spironolactone and the mysterious RU58841. As for future treatments like the protein thing and hair cloning, what the hell is taking so long? Do these people not understand how much psychological trauma would be repaired if the stuff actually came out? I honestly think it might even be good for the economy as a bunch of bald men will work harder because of the confidence gained and sorrow lost because they have a full head of sexy hair again.
  20. I will say that using the xandrox solution, even half-assedly, along with nizoral for almost a year now my hair loss has not progressed a single bit. I've even regrown quite a bit of peach fuzz which I'm going to really work at to thicken up by using a pretty dedicated regimen which includes mornings and before bed every day. Supposedly after that it only takes about 3 applications a week before bed to maintain the regrowth.
  21. The general consensus is that minoxidil is more effective at growing back hair while finasteride is more effective at keeping what you got.
  22. I don't know what you're talking about when you say "many have reported sexual side-effect while on saw palmetto" as a matter of fact saw palmetto is included in quite a few male enhancement products out there including enzyte. Other than that I just think that saw palmetto can be a good addition to using nizoral, on it's own it is pretty weak, but then again anti-androgens aren't really for regrowing hair, it's more of slowing down or stopping the process. I think many people underestimate nizoral, I've been seeing quite a few peach fuzz hairs lining up what would be a perfect hairline on my head. But then again I have been using xandrox 15, although half-assedly. All in all I think the kid's probably not even balding though, just going through the natural phase of hairline maturation which happens to most people, ever notice how little kids have an obnoxious amount of hair on their foreheads? It's really nothing to worry about...
  23. Seriously dude I think you need to relax, for a lot of people it can happen a little bit during the teenage years and then just stop. Be wary of what these fellows say, don't just listen to some dude on an internet message board and immediatley jump on some prescription meds, I took that route and ended up in peril. If it's any consolation I'm 20 and my hair's a bit worse than yours but almost nobody will actually say that I'm balding. In my opinion, just relax, don't do anything about it, because you're not balding, and if you ask any of your friends they will probably agree with me. And you did state that no one in your family lost their hair, so this is a very good sign that you're probably not gonna lose anymore. It can take years to progress, and by the time it gets anywhere near the point of bothering you, I'm sure they'll have something out for it. If you're really concerned you could just try something like taking saw palmetto along with nizoral shampoo, but make sure you use a moisturizing conditioner after using nizoral. This will thicken your hair up, and on the plus side these things don't really cause dependency. Also try to just not feel stressed out and enjoy life.
  24. I do agree with you that if one were to have a blood test done before taking finasteride it would be more reliable, but the fact remains that there are given ranges for hormone levels and there are supposed optimal levels within these ranges. It would be possible to notice subtleties and prove that a mechanism is at play. As for herbs, the general opinion is that they don't have anywhere near the potential negativities that synthetically engineered drugs do. Tobacco is a good example of a herb with negative properties. All in all though this is irrelevant to this post. My bias doesn't stem only from experience, I've read quite a few endocrinology and other legitimate medical papers to support what I say. If more than one person contributes to this post with results it will make it much more reliable, but I'll feel lucky only to have one post. All in all I am in all honesty looking for some objective data and possible correlations.
  25. I tried to get Bill to do this but he refused, oh well. What I'm trying to get at is an objective view of what is going on within the body of someone while on finasteride, the truth is more than just DHT gets affected. I'm trying to see if there are some negative effects that the finasteride user may not be aware of, but could possibly show its ugly head sometime in the future. What I am looking for is levels of the following: Total Testosterone Free (Bioavailable) Testosterone DHT Estradiol (E2) Estrone (E1) Total Estrogens LH FSH DHEA-s Cortisol SHBG Prolactin Progesterone Albumin ACTH PSA Aldosterone Androstenediol glucuronide (Adiol-G) -- measures 5AR activity Androsterone glucuronide TSH, Free T3, Free T4 CBC or FBC (Complete Blood Count/Full Blood Count) LFT (Liver Function Test - AST, ALT, etc.) Also include age, weight, height, and how long you've been on finasteride, along with other possible meds you might be taking. Unfortunately many doctors will refuse to order these tests for you unless they specialize in hormones such as an endocrinologist, so you may have to find an independent medical lab to do it within your area. You can also do it over the internet via mail correspondence, I hear Quest is a good company for this. If you gave good insurance it may end up costing you about 50-60 bucks. In the end it will benefit you by giving you a good view of your overall health status.
