  1. I guess a minor problem is that my hairline is actually kind of leaking forward onto my forehead in some places, minor problem I guess, I think I heard some African-American people get their hairlines waxed to give it a straighter look.. Oh and I thought it might be helpful that I post this page with a picture of what I'm talking about.. it's nothing really significant, and a small price to pay for regrowth. Oh yeah and I actually think it has thickened up my sideburns, I consider that a positive effect. http://www.morphollica.com/product_reviews/xandrox15_review_month6.php
  2. I've been using minoxidil on the hairline for a little over two months now I think, one thing is kinda bothering me... I think I might be growing too much hair, I think it's thickening my eyebrows and I'm kinda starting to see some hair pop up on my forehead. My eyebrows are already sorta thick but I think I'm starting to see a very faint peach fuzz outline of beatle brows, very unattractive. Has anyone else experienced this? How should I handle this? A permanent hair removal clinic? or will it go away if I just take some more care in making sure it doesn't leak onto my face?

  4. Upon further inspection with the aid of mirrors, the hair back there is in fact starting to be kinda thin... This is just great, I thought all I had to worry about was the front, I guess the good news is that treatments are proven to be more effective back there, and if I recall correctly my uncle had some pretty good results just using rogaine alone.
  5. I do think it might be psychological, but regardless it is still something I'm having a bit of trouble getting past, it could be on the subconcious level.. As for the sex 3 times a day, I think that could work nicely as a therapy hah, but unfortunatley I don't have a steady enough girlfriend for that..
  6. Honestly I don't know if I've always had it or not, since the back of my head isn't really an area where I pay much attention to ever. I suppose throwing a dab of minox on there once a night can't hurt since I'm already using it on the front. Oh yeah and I'm 19 turning 20 very soon for those asking for my age. I'm not gonna do finasteride again cause that stuff kinda messes me up..
  7. So I was playing with my hair and on the top I run my fingers across a spot with somewhat more brittle hairs and all of a sudden I feel the coldness of my finger on my scalp. So I decide to investigate and I take out my trusty cellphone camera and... damnit! there's a small point of thinningness, but it is very small to the point where I wonder if my hair is just naturally like that.. I already use minoxidil for the front so I was wondering if perhaps I should throw a small dab on the top just to keep things in check. I don't think I could apply the stuff on the top of my head twice a day (that would mess up my hair way too much). So would using a single spray of spectral dnc or a small dab of xandrox 15 to the top of my head once a night before I go to bed be enough to totally fill it up and solve the problem before it actually becomes a problem? Would xandrox 15 cause too much shedding on the top? Or is it only normal to have a tiny bald spot on the top of the head and should I not do anything at all? Help me out guys...

  9. I think I would rather not try dutasteride since it's even stronger than fin and would probably just annihilate me.. The good news I have is that after going on about 2 months on spectral dnc minoxidil and nizoral I am already starting to see regrowth... to the point where I think I might even be able to spike up my hair nicely in a few more months, but like I said I'm barely an nw2 and hairloss doesn't run heavily in my family. Also I think it is very easy for men to be in denial at my stage of hair loss... I also bought a thing of rogaine just because I ran out of dnc and I didn't wanna be off of minoxidil for the time I had to wait to get a hold of a credit card and order another thing of the stuff, I'd like to state that in my opinion spectral messes your hair up a lot less than rogaine and even works as something of a styling aid. I will be ordering a thing of xandrox15 to apply at the nighttime and if things continue going the way they are right now then maybe, just maybe, I might have a nice hairline on par with that of a flamboyant metrosexual. One thing that's very unfortunate is I think I still haven't fully recovered from some of the propecia sides. I feel like things went to being totally normal soon after I stopped taking it, but then my libido went somewhere to being in between where it was on the pills and before I ever took it. I'm thinking about getting myself some of those liver detox tablets and perhaps some GABA, fish oil, 5-htp, and DHEA supplements just to get things as normal as possible, but don't get me wrong, I still get intense boners every now and then, I just feel like I don't get the urge to masturbate as often as before... this morning I had a wet dream for the first time since I was like 13. I do have faith in the recovering capabilities of the human body and I'm sure with the right amount of effort and research I can make myself look and feel better than ever before. Hell if people can beat cancer, I can beat baldness and minor propecia side effects! My advice (especially to those that are younger) is to look into topicals and see how they work out before trying the pills. Sure a pill may be more conveniant to take, but think of all the make up that women put on every day, I think coming into the 21st century we're approaching an age where men care just as much about how they look as women do, and if magazines or the popular media is any indicator you can tell that men are gradually starting to look more and more feminine. So my suggestion is you get with the program. All in all I'm pleased to say that in the short time-span of 2 months my temples are almost fully restored and I'm already seeing a peach fuzz outline of a fully restored hair-line and there are some new terminal hairs popping up. Looking at some pictures I posted on this forum a while ago I know for sure I am not imagining this. If all goes well I will be happy to post some pictures in 2 or 3 months and prove that it is in fact possible to cure a receding hairline without surgery or even propecia.
  10. First off, your grammar and spelling sucks. Second of all, I think you're talking about the fact that there isn't much data on what propecia does to people after about 5 or 6 years of use because these studies haven't been made. Hope that answers your question. And to youngguy: After two weeks of being off of it and noticing my uncontrollable urges coming back, I would never want things to be any other way again, minoxidil and nizoral seem pretty effective in keeping my hair how it is to say the least. strangely enough, mpb doesn't really seem to run in my family, not before the age of 30 at least, I still have no idea how I ended up with a (slightly) receding hairline at age 19. I think for that reason I was in denial of it for a while, even my mom couldn't believe it. Hopefully my genes will give me a bit of an advantage. I just hope I can succesfully maintain until a cure comes out, if I make any progress I'll post some pictures...
  11. Alright here's an update... It didn't take too long, even at the reduced dosage of 1mg every other day, for the side effects to reappear. This time I also got the aformentioned chunky semen side effect... pretty gross and disturbing. Luckily the side effects disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Things are pretty good and I feel much better now that I know I don't have any long-term ramifications. I'm afraid I'm just gonna have to throw in the towel this time. A combination of spectral dnc, xandrox, spironolactone, nizoral, saw palmetto, dr lee's shampoo, and maybe revita should hold off any future hair loss to say the least.
  12. This could be your permanent solution right here, and right in the privacy of your own home. http://www.folica.com/Vector_Electrol_d1790.html
  13. I've since taken B-spot's advice and dropped the dosage to once every other day. Everything is pretty normal. I am considering getting an arginine based sexual health supplement just to be on the safe side... My bottle of spectral dnc just came in today so with using that as well, I have faith that I will see some decent results (I think I have too many vellous hairs without taking anything not to) So I guess now all I can do is just keep using the stuff and just wait, and hope that I didn't blow all this cash on nothing.
  14. So far I've been taking this stuff for maybe a week and a half, and I think I just might have to quit. The side effects are somewhat mild, but they hit in the areas that hurt the most... As of now Propecia has effectively made morning wood a thing of the past for me, this is not cool. I still do get it on occasion, but only at half-strength. I've been getting some mild and almost unnoticeable testicular pain, but it is still there, and it does worry me. It feels like it takes me longer to take a piss, and that my body doesn't push it out at high enough pressures, along with a weakened feeling right at the core of my lower torso (I'm pretty sure this is where the prostate is. Feeling anything different in this part of my body is not enjoyable... And of course, the worst one of them all, decreased libido. I am still nowhere where I could be diagnosed with "erectile dysfunction" but I do notice I just don't get boners or drift off thinking about sex as much as I normally would. I am a kinda guy that will get a boner just sitting around in a room by himself, this just doesn't seem to happen anymore. I have a reduced urge to masturbate now, and the only reason that I have done so since taking propecia was just to make sure my plumbing still works. While doing so, I've found out that my mental imagery just doesn't work at all pretty much, even if it does, it takes a good amount of effort and concentration. Visual aids do work of course, but again, I feel like I need to put in a bit more effort and I also feel like it's a bit harder to maintain. As far as the real deal goes, I am happy to say that it works its way right through any side effects, but I would like to keep it that way and avoid any highly embarassing situations... I honestly haven't noticed things getting any better since I've continued taking the drug, I think they've been getting worse if anything. I've also been getting some pretty messed up dreams, but I don't know if that really counts. All in all I've read some of these horror stories about how some guys get afflicted with erectile dysfunction and some other nasty stuff for life, it is truly some scary stuff, especially at a young age... I've also read that it is your hair that is genetically made to fall out, not your dht levels, so in effect by taking finasteride you are causing yourself to have abnormally low DHT levels. I always thought lowering 60-70% serum levels was a bit much. For me, looking at the mirror and seeing my hairline on the sides go back a bit has been a nightmare I haven't been able to wake up from, it makes me feel like I'm decaying or something. The fact that I'm experiencing such horrible side effects from something that's supposed to fix that brings me close to tears (and if I do cry you can blame the higher levels of estrogen in my body). So please help me out I have two questions to ask the forum. 1. When coming off of Propecia should I gradually reduce my dosage of it or should I just stop it at once altogether? 2. Are there any supplements or anything that could reduce the risk of any damage being done to my body and promote my hormones to be raging once again? Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is quite possibly one of the harshest things I've faced my whole life.
  15. I got myself the prescription to propecia and I have my first bottle sitting right in front of me, this crap is expensive... I do know that proscar is way cheaper but I am still kind of concerned about cutting up the pills as there are women around the house. Are there any generic brands of finasteride out there that also contain the 1mg dosages?
  16. Well honestly I don't really have that much hair loss to begin with, just a little thinning and recession on the sides, my hair is probably thicker than most people on the top, I also have loads and loads of vellous hairs on the edge of my hairline and if only they grew thick again I would be very satisfied. Just take a look at this guy, using minoxidil and finasteride seems to have done him pretty good. http://www.hairlosstalk.com/photogallery/pgantonio.htm
  17. Well, after feeling like crap each time I look into the mirror for a few months now I've decided to do something about it. From what I can tell, fighting hair loss is nothing short of an uphill battle, and restoring hair in the frontal hairline and temples is going to be no easy task. From what I have researched, the following products used together should give me some pretty admirable results, I've seen pictures of a dude who's totally restored his natural hairline after being in my state. The cost is probably going to be high, but my mom has agreed to help me out. So here is the list of what I will probably begin to use very shortly. 2% Nizoral Shampoo 2 or 3 times a week (Probably the most basic thing I can use, from what I can tell it increases the chance of regrowth caused by other products, I'll probably use Paul Mithcell's Tea Tree Lemon Sage thickening shampoo and conditioner when not using Nizoral) 1mg Finasteride daily (From what I can tell the most effective hair loss drug there is, I guess it can't hurt to try but if I get any sign of "sexual side effects" this stuff is getting thrown right into the fireplace) Xandrox 5% with Retin-A once daily (I've read some pretty good things about Dr. Lee's products and there seems to be an advantage in using this stuff over regular old Rogaine, it says to use twice daily but I think once before I go to bed should do the job just fine. If after a while I'm not satisfied with the results I might upgrade to the 12.5% or 15% minoxidil solution and add topical spironolactone to what I'm using.) Quitting Tobacco (This is probably gonna be the hardest one to do, but with the positive health benefits it might reduce the chance of side effects from Propecia, from what I hear it improves your sex life too) Finally I have two questions to ask the forum. 1. If I were to use both finasteride and minoxidil together for a year and I succesfully regrew hair, would I be able to maintain my regrowth with the finasteride if I stopped the minoxidil? 2. What are the opinions on Trichomin/Revivogen? From what I can tell it doesn't seem like much. So there you have it, hopefully I'll be able to throw on gobs and gobs of hair gel on my head in 6 months, right on time for the summer when all the ladies will be wearing their skimpy outfits.

  19. I think most of the people on here are pretty familiar with baldingblog.com. I found this really interesting post that has to do with eating healthy. Personally there is no history of hair loss in my family of anyone starting to recede at my age. My dad is about 57 and his hair still looks great for his age. Over the years I have taken crap care of my body, so I would not be surprised to know that malnutrition, depression, and stress have played a big role for my thinning. When I was 16 I weighed about 160 pounds but dropped somewhat quickly to 145 pounds. I am about 6 feet tall, and I think that if I got any skinnier I might turn into a skeleton. The first step for me will probably have to be quitting smoking, I believe I read somewhere that DHT levels in the scalp are about 15% higher in smokers than non-smokers. Quitting smoking would also probably increase my appetite so I will probably start working out to build up a lean muscular body. So enough talking, here is the link to the post. http://www.baldingblog.com/2007/03/02/my-hair-loss-reve...nd-eating-healthier/
  20. It seems that there's a lot of crazy topical cocktails that people sell these days, many of them containing high concentrations of minoxidil. If you search online you can even find people who claim to have made an effective minoxidil shampoo, making the application much easier and practical. But what really got me is the claim of making an effective dutasteride topical solution that crosses the scalp membrane. So finasteride only blocks type 2 alpha reductase or whatever its called and dutasteride blocks both. I read on a forum post or something that the scalp doesn't really contain type 2 alpha reductase but does contain type 1 alpha reductase. I think it is also common knowledge within this forum that dutasteride and finasteride can be absorbed through the skin, hence the warning labels discouraging contact with a female and crushed tablets. So in theory would topical dutasteride give results while significantly reducing possible side effects? lipoxidil.com is where they sell these things, the price tags are pretty hefty...
  21. I'd also like to add how it's funny there was an episode of Seinfeld where george gets a shipment of some topical cream from china or somewhere like that. The resemblance is too funny hahaha
  22. The mention of RU 58841 seemed pretty interesting to me, so I did a google search on it. Oddly enough, a Chinese Pharmacy makes it and sells it, for research purposes only. The site doesn't have a price, but some other articles I found say that it is very expensive to have it custom made for you. I guess it would be a good read if someone reading this got a hold of this, tried it and posted info on the results, but I'm not really one to condone questionable and possibly hazardous behavior
  23. Kerastase Bain Prevention by L'Oreal. L'Oreal is a pretty big shampoo company and the bottle itself says "helps reduce the risk of hair loss". You can go to http://www.amazon.com/Kerastase-LOreal-Prevention-Shampoo-Aminexil/dp/B000FSEVR0 to see it for yourself. I've been using it for a few days and I actually think it is rejuvinating some of my hairs as I'm starting to see many tiny stubbles in the receding area. I am not using the aminexil treatment but I would consider trying it. Any replies to this would be greatly appreciated.
  24. I guess I'll get a free consultation with a local HT doctor to try and get a prescription for propecia. I do have hopes because looking very closely in the mirror I can actually see that pretty much all of the hairs in the receding area are still there, they've just gotten very thin and short and pale in color, so it's good to know that I don't really have any follicular death. You can't really see this in the pictures. Looking very closely I also see that I have a lot of tiny pale invisible hairs on my forehead above my eyebrows going up to my hairline, is there a remote chance that propecia could thicken and darken these hairs and turn me into one freakish looking dude with hair on his forehead? Also what are the effects of propecia on the eyebrows?
