  1. Another satisfied customer. Dr. Charles has such a good reputation. Nice choice.
  2. "I am surprised that a Dr with the obvious skill and experience in planting, design and angulation could be so poor in closure but, perhaps that is the case." I think that is unlikely (but certainly possible). Have you seen Bukkaroo's photos? His scar is similar and never had any previous work. His surgeon was Dr. Hasson. Some people just have problematic healing characteristics --myself included. If he did botch the scar, I'm sure that he will revise it for free. I realize that it sucks to get cut again. Don't worry Spock, you'll look great when all is said and done.
  3. If the surgeon is good that's a damned good value. TAKE IT!
  4. You summina bitch! I can't believe that scar! Those that are fortunate enough to find a good doctor on their first try get scars like yours. LUCKY!!!!
  5. Dr. McClellan was working at NHI (Los Angeles) up until about 2 years ago. Try contacting them.
  6. I remember Ken had some horrible things to say about this guy. I tend to agree with Ken in this situation.
  7. I have to comment... I always wore a ski cap (beenie) or a baseball cap (even up to a couple months ago). This time of year (Winter), when it is appropriate and makes sense to wear it I generally don't. I'm at the 4 month mark of surgery number 4 and hope that in 3 months from now, when I have achieved about 70 percent growth, I will give the hats away. It feels so good to see other people wearing a cap (presumably because it is either fashionable or cold) and not have one on myself. That's one example of what they mean by "new confidence".
  8. My recipient area was pink for 3 months. I assume that it stayed pink because of the high density and graft total.
  9. I am approaching the 4 month mark and am happy with the results thus far.
  10. No. You have 8000 grafts to play with and can utilize them in any order you wish.
  11. I have spoken with Dr. Jeff Epstein (in Miami) on the phone. He is exactly the type of person that I feel comfortable with. But I like DR. Feller because he turns patients away that he feels aren't good candidates. Really strong ethics. They are both extremely well regarded. You can't lose with either.
  12. Take a shower any time that you feel like the itching is unbareable. DON'T TOUCH !
  13. Hard to say. Looking forward to your story.
  14. "Big1- So let me ask you this, is it possible that the sexual side effects of propecia could appear a year, or more, into taking the medication?" They may continue to exist, I imagine, but they would become prevalent much sooner. No, it is not likely that you would have to wait a year before you notice "sexual side effects". "Maybe the problems I'm experiencing are stemming from something else ?" They probably are. Don't worry about your girlfriend; if it really becomes a problem just use a donger on her. Keep your hair. That's what is important because no transplant can give it back to you; several transplants can make a HUGE difference but they will never be as good as nature. "BTW, is it true that it takes about 1 year of continious useage of minoxidil for it to start seriously working?" I don't use Minoxidil. I take one pill befre I go to bed and that's it. Combine that with surgery (with an excellent doctor) and excellent results are imminent.
  15. Seriously, if you aren't willing to commit to Propecia you shouldn't get a transplant. Propecia will thwart your hair loss. It comes at a price for some, but the choice is yours. I for one, am not concerned with impressing women with my sexual abilities; I only care about myself and getting my numbers up. My hair matters (without hair, I look and feel much older than I am and it would be much harder to attract women). It matters enough that I have taken Propecia for about 4 years continuously. I believe I would be a NW5 if I didn't continue with Propecia. Now I don't look like I have ever had a problem! If you get a transplant without having been on Propecia for about a year (CONTINUOUSLY!) then you will likely lose much of your existing hair (as many follicles are already rich in DHT) and are just waiting to DIE. The trauma will surely kill them dead. You can prevent a lot of this follicular death with Propecia. By getting a transplant in a year (after prolonged and continuous use of Propecia) you will effectively elliminate unwanted follicular death. You won't have a net LOSS after the procedure like I had. Imagine that...paying thousands of dollars for a transplant only for it to leave you with less hair then you started with. Believe me, you don't want it. Get back on Propecia. Don't worry about the side effects. You're fine. Men have been taking this medication for about 50 years. It can only help your hair (and your prostate). Best wishes.
  16. Try to have as few as possible. Get the biggest sessions your wallet will allow (and avoid surgeries that yield less than 2000 grafts).
  17. Go to a doctor with A LOT of experience in repairs. The doctors who helped repair patients (Charles, Cooley etc.) would be good places to start.
  18. Spock, you hairy bastard! How did it go?
  19. I have actually spoken to Dr. Charles on the phone. He spent an enormous amount of time with me and was very honest. I've seen the pictures; he's a good doctor. Congratulations.
  20. The doctors that contribute to this forum are the ones who really care. Dorin and True are magicians; you can't go wrong.
  21. 2700 grafts could easily yield about 8,000 hairs; what a humongous difference that is going to make.
  22. I just got my haircut. I had the back of my head buzzed with a 5 and the top with a 3 and a half. Bottom line is that both of my scars are VERY VERY noticeble. One scar has grafts transplanted into it. The other is about 10 weeks and is already about 3 mm wide; however, its still about half of the width of my original NHI scar. I have used Mederma every day for 10 weeks. I have taken my nutrients. I have grown a big fat ass because I have resisted exercise and lifting weights (for 10 weeks) and still I have a scar that is much wider than I had hoped. Does anyone have any ideas?
