Sorry that you had to find out the hard way Didn't you research his results before you went for the surgery?? Can you afford to get repair work done (with a real HT surgeon)? I think your hair is going to be very sparse and dolls head-looking once that grows

No, just the slight pain of the anaesthetic injections - after that you don't feel a thing. The donor area is painful for a day or two (with strip) after the HT but painkillers take care of that. Then if you have strip surgery, the sutures/staples cause some discomfort until they are removed but not really any pain. I've experienced much more pain at the dentist than the HT clinic ... PB

Sorry to hear about your poor experience. If the work is done by a "top-doc", you don't have the problems you have experienced. I don't have any impression scars in my recipient area, you can't tell anything has been done even under bright light under the closest inspection. I have a scar at the back, but it's impossible to feel, although it would be visible with very short hair. Excellent results are possible, just not with the likes of Bosley. Who did your last HT? PB

I'll be 4 months post-op tomorrow (2700 strip). Hair started sprouting at 2 months 3 weeks and has really taken off during the last month so that the whole recipient area is populated with hair of variable length... and the next batch of stubble just appeared . PB 11/17/2005 2700 Strip Dr Feller

Bashing females vs their male counterparts wouldn't be politcally correct, but bashing males is acceptable. Your post made me laugh . BTW, I employ two female dentists and one male dentist. I'm a male dentist. In my opinion, gender has nothing to do with the quality of work. It's the qualities of the human being that matter. Just my two cents. Sorry, I shouldn't generalize; I'm just going by the experience I've had. But aren't women's smaller hands/fingers better for dental work ? I don't suppose the size of the doctor's fingers makes a difference when doing HT work though. PB

I had my hair cut with a #3 guard 6 weeks after my HT and the scar was still visible at the sides. It wasn't visible at the back where the density of my hair is about double that of the hair at the sides, so I think it depends on how dense your hair is around the donor scar. PB

For about three weeks... then it started to shed - by 6 weeks all the transplanted hair had shed. No shockloss around the donor area except for a very small area (an area about half the size of a finger nail) at the top corner of the smilie by my left ear (as hairbank explained...) where there was more scab than on the rest of the scar. This probably wasn't shockloss as hair began to grow as soon as the scab came off - growth was just temporarily prevented by the scab. PB

Looking good Bill! What happened to the sides though!? Looking at the full sized pic of your hairline I can see a lot of new hairs still coming through on your hairline. PB

I'm 10 weeks post-op and just over a week ago I had an outbreak of pimples - each pimple had a hair sprouting out of it. I applied distilled Witch Hazel and it seemed to dry the pimples up almost immediately so there was no need to break them. Since then the pimples have calmed down and I only have a couple at one time. PB

To answer your original question, I had strip surgery (2700) with Dr Feller and he told me that I could exercise as much as I liked after the stitches were removed and that it wouldn't make any difference to the scar. I removed the stitches 9 days post-op and returned to my daily routine (including heavy weights, training at anaerobic levels and deep stretching (including my neck)) on the 9th day without any problems. My scar didn't stretch and has remained just a 1 - 2 mm wide white line. The sweat I built up from training cleared all the scab from my recipient area and I was scab free by 11 days post-op - before my first work out the recipient area was covered with scab. Although the scar has healed as well as a scar could possibly heal, it is visible with short hair, as Gorpy mentioned, and I can't cut my hair any shorter than 1 inch without the scar being visible at the sides. PB

Great to see an update, Gorpy. Your hair looks to be growing nicely. It won't look so "mature" once the hairline kicks in. There appears to be more hair already than you had pre-op so that's good!
