Where is shockloss more prevalent?
Rachmunas4life replied to mmhce's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Would I have a lower chance of shock loss if the surgeon is lowering my hairline without going into my existing hairs? Thanks! -
Hair procedure without balding?
Rachmunas4life replied to steve madden's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Do you have any pictures? I too have a higher hairline (course hair) and went to a doctor for a consultation when I was 23. The doctor told me to wait a few years to see if I was receding. I am 26 now and had two consultations from some of the most respected surgeons in the world. They both agreed that I'm a candidate now to lower my hairline. I say wait like I did. Quite frankely I still am young and people will tell me to wait. I however have spoken with doctor's that have turned away plenty of people before in similar situations and agreed that I am a candidate. -
This video of a guy who went to Dr. Hasson looks incredible! His hairline was similar to mine before his surgery. http://www.hassonandwong.com/m...lay=1&PLindex=3&id=1 I've already had a consultation with Dr. Epstein in Miami. I am meeting Dr. Ron Shapiro down here as well on Tuesday. He is really laid back on the phone and is very nice to meet me down here on his vacation. I just hope he won't examine my hair in the lobby of the hotel I'm meeting him, haha! I've also been speaking with one of Dr. Hasson's advisors. Dr. Hasson will review my hair (by photos) when he returns from his trip. But seeing Dr. Shapiro should give me a real honest opinion on my situation if I should go ahead or leave it alone for now. I am happy to have found this forum! Everyone is great on here! Otherwise I'd probably be under the knife right now at Bosley.

Hey Please Grow, Dr. Epstein only told me he had one done. I thought it looked 100% natural. One of his assistants told me his staff performed it. Regardless of who did it Dr. Epstein should be very pleased! I'm meeting Dr. Ron Shapiro on Tuesday. I'll ask him about it. : ) I'm very fortunante Dr. Shapiro is in the area where I live. 2 excellent surgeons giving me a thural consultation if very informative.

That's interesting because one of his assiatants (not Jon) who helped me with the consultation told me Dr. Epstein's staff performed the H/T on Dr. E. I think he told me this because I was also interested in Dr. Shapiro! If so than he is just a typical salesman! Frankly thats how he came off in the first place. But he did get a hair transplant that looks 100% undetectable and should be extremely pleased with from whomever performed it!

Can I sleep normally now?
Rachmunas4life replied to Jensen's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
So you have to sleep on your back the first week? I just want to clarify this? -
What cost per graft did Dr. E give you? Any discount? Did the surgery seem rushed since he does 2 cases a day? Thanks

I just had a consultation with Dr. Epstein. He and his assistant were very informative! He told me I might be ever so slightly receding at best. But said since my hair has been like this for 8 years now, it might only recede slightly more over time. He also told me I have outstanding donor capacity with 10,000 grafts in my donor site, which is well above average! He also said that he could do FUE with 1100 grafts the first day and 800 the second day. But he said that there is an 85% chance for all the hair to grow for fue vs 95% for the strip. He also said the hairs are of better quality from the strip. He does do dissolvable sutures so I won't have to go back to have them removed from the strip. He can also put hairs over the strip scar if I wished. It would probably cost extra but he said I can keep my long hair so the strip and the grafts won't be visible! I'd be looking at 2,400-2,600 grafts to give me about 1cm lower and to fill in the temples. He could do about 1,800-2,000 to fill in the temples alone and not lower my hairline, but I'd like a lower hairline. I'd still have 7,500 grafts left and cell (hair) growth should be around in 8-10 years anyways. I will think about it over winter break.

Young and in need of advice
Rachmunas4life replied to young_guy123's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
I think we have a similar situation; I thought I was losing my hair at age 18. My hairline has been pretty much the same since then and I am 26 now. I went to a surgeon who said wait a few years. This was about 3 years ago. I am now looking at filling in the temples and lower my hairline. I still might be too young for this! Here is a link to my pictures. I'd say wait a few years. We have a similar hairline. http://hair-restoration-info.c...466060861/m/37510023 -
I am going to Dr. Epstein's office in Miami on Wednesday. I will keep this thread updated! I am not making up my mind at this time. I will consider everything I hear and would probably get a second/third opinion with other surgeons. It would be nice to get a H/T done in the area, and Dr. Epstein seems to be one of the top 3 surgeon's out there, but Dr. Shapiro's work really blew me away on this forum! I had a phone consultation with his assistant. I might have a phone consultation with him after winter break. I'll update the forum on Wednesday.

Just to let everyone know that I put more photos on the bottom of page 1. I do have 70 5mg Finasteride pills at my house. I bought it but I never took them since I am not receding anywhere where Finasteride would help. Also if I took it now than it might lose it's effectivness when I might need it in the future.

To answer your question, I am 8.5" from my hairline to my chin and 6" from my eye brows to my chin. It's also 3" from my hairline to my eyebrows. I'm headed to Dr. Epstein's office in Miami on Wednesday since I live in the area. He in my top 3 between Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Konior. I already got plenty of info through e-mail from Dr. Konior. Although I thought him saying he would do 3,000 grafts doesn't make a good impression on me. There still isn't a way to decide how much more I will recede. I know I have outstanding density in my donor area. But if I already lose 3,000 I won't be able to fill in the rest of my head if I one day (doubt it) turn into a NW 7. Dr. Shapiro's patient advisor told me that very thing I just wrote and I completely agree. He also said that while waiting 10 years would be better to determine future hairline, they still feel 1,500-2,000 grafts can be achieved. This will give me a 2 cm lower hairline.

Since I went to Dr. Konior for a consultation back in November of 04' or 05', I don't think I have receded and believe my hair looks the same. He looked at my new pictures and said I am a great candidate for a lower hairline. He believes that if he lowers my hair line 2cm it would require 2,000 grafts. He also said I have outstanding donor resources.

Another comment. It's exactly 3" from the start of my hairline to my eyebrows. My fathers side has an excellent head of hair. My mother's side has hair loss and decent hair from some other relatives. My 97 year old uncle had the same hairline I have when he was my age. He still has the same hairline. But who knows? I might take after my bald grandpa! Thanks!
