  1. I had my 2nd HT in February. My stated goal was to even out the left and right sides and to fill in(increase density) from front to back. Ten months later, it looks like hell. My doc recommended strong density on the top of my head. I wondered at the time why we would do this but I went along with it since he is pro, not me. Well, now I have way too much hair on top of my head.....looks like a birds nest. My docs says it looks great but it doesn't. What can I do? Every day I worry about this.

  3. Lets just say I was a Norwood 4+ before my 2nd HT. I prefer not to bring the doctors name in to it at this point, because I may just be over reacting. I still have a decent size bald spot at my vertex, which I am ok with. That brings up a second question, the dr went dense in the back of the top side of my head instead of feathering back. That does not seem to make sense to me either.
  4. I received 2200 grafts 5 months ago. This is my 2nd HT. I previously had 2200 grafft HT. Growth has already been very good but the placement of grafts concerns me. I have an extremely dense area of grafts in a narrow strip starting from the front of my forehead to the mid to back scalp area of my head. It looks fairly awkward at this point. It is very bulky on the top of my head compared to the temple and side areas. My doctor says this is a normal grafting and that everyone is much more dense in the vertex area of the front and back of the head, and density lessens as you go go to the sides of the head. Is this true? Do I have any reason to be concerned?

  6. I highly suggest that anyone getting a HT document their objectives in writing so the doctor can't later dispute the objectives. I think an email to your doctor stating your objective is very helpful for post op discussions.

  8. What has been the response of your doctor?
  9. I am 3 months post op from a 2000 graft HT. It is my 2nd one. I have had considerable hair gowth already, however, much of it has been in the mid scalp and back scalp area and I am worried because I have sort of the "birds nest" look because I have had less growth in front. Am I getting concerned too early? Any suggestions?

  11. Troy, you paid $8,000 to $10,000 for something and you can't remember how much it atually cost?
  12. So how long does propecia stay in the system?
  13. I currently use propecia every 2 days and it definitely has stopped my hair fall out. I have some subtle side effects so I want to try every 3 days. Will propecia stay in my system long enough to possibly work every 3 days?

  15. Is it not logical that FUE would be more practical for "touch up situations", where you you want a couple hundred grafts to fill in a small area or slightly improve a hair line situation. While strip is a much more efficient process than FUE, there are probably some situations where FUE would make more sense.
  16. There are medical articles on the web which state that vitamin E does not help in healing scars. The best topical product is scar gel which contains an onion extract that has been proven to help scar healing. Neosporin has a product with scar gel that is very good. Good luck.
  17. Aida, I am also interested in learning more about the laser brush. Who makes it? If it is 6 times stronger than the comb, do you use less often?
  18. Generally speaking, do cetain areas of the receipient area (frontal, mid scalp, and crown area) grow quicker than the others? It seems the mid scalp areas grows quicker but this might just be psychological.

  20. I am also at week 5. This is my 2nd HT and there is considerably more "initial" growth than my 1st HT. I think it is because of usage of propecia this time. I still expect most to eventually fall out, but I really think propecia increases chance of retention of intial hair growth. I eventually want to discontinue propecia but I am afraid of the sudden fall out.
  21. kg, I am not familiar with Dr Epstein's or Dr DeYarman's situations, however, I think the worse part of this was how Dr Williams did (or actually did not) handle the patient's issues and concerns. C'mon, the patient tries calling the doctor's office for two weeks and the doctor's excuse is that his "administrator was out sick for part of the week". That's a lame excuse. Hey, doctors can make mistakes, but it should not require the patient complaining on an internet forum before the doctor addresses the issue. That being said, if Dr Epstein and Dr DeYarman handled their situations just as poorly, then they should be treated in the same amnner.
  22. I am a little late with this update but my healing process went extremely well. Scabs were almost completely gone at 7 days. Minimal itching occurred. The key was keeping the receipent area clean and moisturizing often with saline solution. That was it! Went back to work on day 10, had my hair cut on day 15 and actually went on a date on day 16. Thanks for everyone's help!
  23. Is propecia more effecitve to be split and take .5 mg per day or 1 mg, every other day? Or does it not matter?
  24. Very importnat question as more and more and people in their younget years get HTs and use propecia. Any professional input would be greatly appreciated.
