just thought i would fill you in, i know this forum is mainly for hair transplants but this is what i've been taking. 3 months prior to taking zinc 50 mg, proscar, and minoxidil 5 %... i've been using these for my front hairline.. subtle hair growth on my right temple, but LOTS of regrowth on my right temple area. frontal hairline..right in the center.. its done crap.. seems like i'm still losing hair and my hair follicles seem minaturized. There's no more shedding though, it was just a phase and it happened 3 weeks prior to using the minoxidil or taking the proscar. so yea, they haven't done much for the area i needed help with most, my front center hairline.

thanks guys.. i guess i'll stick with the proscar and rogaine but i still can't get used to getting up in the morning and finding a pile load of hairs on my pillow.. Anyway.. the whole hairloss thing.. you know.. there was a time for all of us that we didn't even have to care about hairloss.. i felt bad for those that i saw that were thinning but now its happening to me.. and it has something to do about being a man.. i would love to let it go, say to myself, it happens to everyone, let it go, but it really does affect your self esteem, i feel less confident around others now that have a full head of hair, i'm constantly comparing my head of hair to others and i'm starting to wear caps more and more... but basically... yea.. my hair really does affect my personality, the way i think.. in more ways than i would like it too...

thanks belgium dude but do you see why now i'm panicking? I've only been using minoxidil on my frontal hairline and i heard that there's a very low possibilty that i might see regrowth. So now, including the shedding, i might not even see ANY REGROWTH at my frontal hairline...

seriously, is this just a phase? I can't look in the mirror anymore, i'm 20 and i can see my hair DRASTICALLY falling out of my frontal hair line. I can see right through my scalp when light hits my head now. I'm serious, i'm taking proscar and Minoxidil for about 3 weeks now, what the hell is going on? I thought proscar is supposed to stop hair loss. Why am i seeing MORE hair loss than i have BEFORE i even started using minoxidil or proscar? Please help me, what's causing me to shed like, i see an average of 30 hairs on my bed PER NIGHT now. what the hell.. and if its shedding.. why don't i see any sign of regrowth.. i would love to think its shedding but someone please just explain to me what's going on...

John H: I've been using proscar for about 3 weeks now, every day in the morning. Justin Seivers: Thank you, your reply gave me a sigh of relief but i don't know want to get my hopes up to high cause in the end, it comes down to if i can really see my hair regrowing. Can you explain this to me though, so i'm bound to shed once every month? Or does this shedding phase only happen once when you start taking it. As a side note, i've been taking minoxidil 5 % as well..i heard it was a good combo to take the two together.

dammit, i'm taking proscar and minoxidil, and zinc. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT ELSE I CAN TAKE. I'm annoyed cause i'm still losing hair and i dont feel anything i've taken has helped me retain or help me grow back hair. So what else is out there???

no Lorenzo, i would love to think its in my head, aside from the high hairline, i've been thinning DRASITCALLY for the past 3 months now, i have no idea why, i would like to think its because of something in asia, but i've been noticing it everywhere, light goes straight through my frontal hairline and hits my forehead. I can count the number of hairs coming from my frontal hairline, there's VERY little density there. You know, i knew it was genetic but i didn't think it would hit me this young, so you see, if i did decide to get an HT, it wouldn't be just to make a new hairline, its to also give me thickness also. It's hard for a person like me to see others my age, even 15-20 years older! and see that they have a great head of hair when i don't.

Thanks, well i wasn't planning on getting an HT done anytime soon, i'm just curiou with those that have already gotten it done, have you seen good results... does the transplanted hair grow at the same rate as your normal hair? Is it noticable to others that you got a ht done?

minaturized follicles...looked at my hair follicles.. (not sure the exact name, just where the hair grows out at the roots) and i can start seeing these DOTS where each hair follicle is coming out.. is this a bad sign? Does this mean that those strand of hairs are thinning? My other hair roots around my scalp don't have the DOTS near the surface where it grows out.. Can anyone tell me what it means..sorry if it came out wrong, i'll try to explain it better if no one gets back... Thanks in advance. (for bluesman: Proscar is the cheaper version of propecia, so isntead of taking the whole pill, just cut it up 4 ways and take 1/4 once a day.)

a heads up for anyone that notices itching in their scalp (a sign of hairloss.. in my opinion) but after taking a zinc for about a month, i can say that i have no more itchiness in my scalp, it was hellish a few weeks back, itching like i never felt SPECIFICALLY in my frontal hairline where i was thinning, but after taking about 50-100 mg of zinc a day, no more itch. i dont know if zinc helps with hairloss or not but it sure as hell stopped my annoying itch.

hey microprose or anyone else, hope your still reading this topic but my logic.. was that i was thinking of propecia as a "barrier".. stops hair from falling out.. but also prevents new hair from growing out.. sorry if that came out wrong, i just got proscar though, can anyone tell me how to take it? ok, i know its all genetics, everyone on the board says its genetics, i just don't understand why it happens to me so early. My question is how should i take care of my hair to slow the progression of hair loss..

thanks manko, as you can see from my posts, i've randomly been spewing out every question i can think of about hair loss, because i'm trying to learn as much as possible.. as soon as possible.. which brings me to this if anyone can answer.. should i avoid using conditioner all together? and just use shampoo? cause that's whatn i'm doing right now.. just baby shampoo.. better yet.. what do you guys use to wash your hair? and what conditioner if you do?? Does combing have any benefits? That it would help make the hair stronger..? Just a thought.. i always thought the less you touch your hair.. the less it would fall out, which brings me to how many times you guys shampoo your hair every week? Being that the less you touch (wash.. massage your hair when shampooing) the less that it would fall out.. unless its all genetic..
