  1. thanks for the info guitarplayer, I'll try this combo as soon as possible. Just one question, do you use 1% Nizoral AD or 2%? Can anyone else recommend T-Sal? I'm just trying to stay on the safe side, I lost a lot of hair when I was on Nizoal 1%, but I'm not sure what exactly was the cause, could've been something else.
  2. Hey troy and Guitarplayer, hairloss isn't common in my family, just my dad.. and I think he's about a NW4..My Uncle has a full head of hair, no sign at all of hairloss. I'm only thinning on the front hairline.. not on the crown so I take that as a good sign for now. But I'm really worried if I'll recede as far back as him or even further, and how long it'll take. My current regimen isn't cutting it anymore. My hairloss has quickened these past few months, and the proscar.. rogaine.. everything else i'm taking.. doesn't seem to do anything. I can literally count the number of hairs still clinging onto my front hairline. GuitarPlayer- Would you recommend I still try Neutrogena T-Sal even if I don't experience any inflamation or itchiness? I've already tried Nizoral for about 2 months and didn't notice any effects. In any case, if the only thing I can add is a combination of shampoos.. than I'll surely lose hope in keeping the remaining hair I have. *I just switched to Fincar today, its basically generic Proscar and instead of taking 1mg a day.. I've decided to try 1.25 mg. I don't know if it will do much but I sure hope so.
  3. I've been meaing to post here for a while...but I don't know what to ask. I figured I've gotten all the answers from my previous topics on what I should be taking to fight my hairloss. But in these past 4 months, I've lost more hair than I've ever expected to lose even though I've been taking the same topicals and pills. Both temples have receeded tremendously and my hairline almost looks transparent. Somedays, I feel really depressed cause of my hair, I've lost some of my confidence because of my hairloss and I'm increasingly becoming more and more paranoid when I hang out with friends if I sense they're looking at my hair. I think I'm taking all the right topicals and pills to fight hairloss, I used nizoral shampoo for a 1 month and a half but switched back to baby shampoo after seeing no effects, I even tried pausing on everything for about a month but I only ended up losing more hair, specifically in the temple region. If anyone can recommend something to add or drop to my regimen, I would appreciate it.

  5. Hi Mark. I know exactly how you feel, I'm 22, not as young as you but I've been losing hair for about 3 years. It's the hardest thing to lose hair at such a young age because no one should be worrying about their hair at such a at this point in their life. Its so uncommon.. and because no one can relate to you and know what your going through, it becomes depressing to think about it. I get very paranoid also, I tend to follow the eyes of my friends and see if they're looking at my face or my hair. What are you using right now for your hair? Post your regimine so people can give you better advice. Rogaine works best for the temple region but I have to warn you, once you start it, you have to use it daily for the rest of your life. I got over confident when my hair started to fill back in my temples, so I stopped using it. Big mistake, I lost all the hair that I gained and my temples receeded even further. If you just don't want your temples to recede even further, just stick with proscar/propecia for now.
  6. Hi Mrjb, what scientific research has been done. Has there been a post made on this board or a link you could post?
  7. I'm curious if anyone on this board has tried this product. It's a pill, its a chinese herbal supplement that supposedly helps you grow hair. I've used it 2 years ago and have actually seen hair growth on my eyebrows. But back than, my hair loss wasn't as bad as it is now so I really didn't notice any difference to my hairline. Has anyone tried this product? What are your experiences? I'm thinking of adding it again to my daily regimen.
  8. thanks for the info Bill, I've actually started on Nizoral non prescription 1% anti dandruff shampoo. I'm into my second week and really don't feel any difference.. except for the obvious no more dandruff..Does it help stimulate your follicles? I'm actually thinking of switching back to baby shampoo because its cheaper. Could you tell me what nizoral is supposed to help with Bill? Any help appreciated
  9. wow, 41 views and not one reply? I know some of you must use Nizoral being how its so popular, please tell me a bit about it. Is it safe to stop using Nizoral Shampoo once you start it? Does the 1% actually say 1 percent cause the only one I could find is the anti dandruff shampoo, no mention of 1%. Is this the same thing?
  10. I've been on proscar for 2 years and it doesn't seem to be as effective as it was when I first started. My hairloss has actually increased i the past 5 months. I don't know if I'm still losing hair due to the fact that I'm only using Rogaine once a day now but proscar used to be a lot more effective for me before. I'm thinking of switching to propecia as I heard that splitting up proscar can affect and lessen its potency.
  11. Hi everyone, what are the effects and side effects to using Nizoral shampoo? I'm very eager to adding Nizoral shampoo to my regimen because what I'm taking right now isn't cutting it for me anymore and I have no idea why. If anyone could help me answer all of my questions, I'll be very grateful. I've read on this forum that Nizoral was "proven" to increase hair count.. is this true? Does it contain minoxidil in it? My main question is if Nizoral has any side effects. I realize that there are two types of Nizoral, 1% and 2%. Will there be any effects to Nizoral if I stop using it? (I'm relating this to the hair loss when I stopped on Rogaine for a few weeks). If so, will it be safer if I just used the over the counter 1% for now? thank you, any help appreciated

  13. hey dre, i started losing hair at 19 so I can relate. If you do start taking something, take propecia ONLY. Save rogaine for later if you don't see any affects of taking just propecia. From my experience rogaine is poison and once you start using it, you have to use it forever or else you'll lose the hair that its helped you gained.
  14. I don't think there's any shampoo that stops hair loss. Have you thought about using baby shampoo? Its what I use because it contains very few chemicals compared to other shampoo brands being that its made for babies hair... hence.. it should be safer for your hair. Well that's what I believe anyway.
  15. Hi robert, thanks for posting your experience with rogaine. One question, were you applying rogaine in your crown or front hairline? when you saw the hair loss after discontinuing on the minoxidil.
  16. For those of you saying that people will lose hair once they stop using minoxidil, are you talking about in areas that you have never seen any hair regrowth in? I haven't even seen baby hairs forming on my front hairline where I've applied it. So is my safest bet to just stay on minoxidil even if I want to keep my natural existing hair? PB- hope your HT turns out great with Dr. Feller. I too plan on going to him in the near future depending on how my hair loss progresses.
  17. thanks for all the replies Damo, I'll send you pictures as soon as I take some. Tying this post into another topic that I made.. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=145926 I've only been using rogaine on my front hairline and I've only seen regrowth in my temple area but NEVER on my front hairline (directly above eyebrow region). This is after 2 years of daily use, twice a day. So I realize if I stop, that I'll lose the hair regrowth on the temples, but I probably won't lose any hair on my front hairline, right? I'm guessing that if I never gained hair there.. I won't lose any as well. Is this safe to assume?
  18. Hey everyone, I apologize for all the new topics. It's just that I've been noticing more hair loss than usual over the past 4 weeks and am clueless as to why. I'm at exactly the two year mark with rogaine and propecia and have already experienced the shedding phase when I first started taking rogaine. Should I still be shedding? I've been continuously using rogaine twice a day and taking proscar (split) once a night. I was assuming that if it wasn't shedding, it was that proscar was losing its effectiveness. So is this just a shedding phase? any help appreciated

  20. I just thought about this and in the past 2 years of taking rogaine, i dont think i've ever really seen any regrowth in the center of my front hairline. I:m talking about the area on your hairline right above your nose. I know its meant for the crown and that it works slightly well on the temples but I was wondering if anyone on this forum has seen any kind of regrowth in that area.
  21. I:ve had hairloss for the past 2 years so far. It's only affected my frontal hairline but I really regret starting on rogaine. I was so fixated on my hair loss at the age of 19 that I paniced and took propecia, rogaine and zinc all at once... Which is what I'm regreting now. I think I should've just taken propecia ONLY when I first started noticing small signs of hairloss. Rogaine is like poison, I hate it and I regret ever starting it, because once you start it, you can't stop, you have to use it daily, twice a day. And it becomes quite troublesome because it ends up flaking your hair especially in the morning when your off to work. I made a mistake and stopped taking it for a month hoping that my hair didn't need it anymore. I lost all the hair that I had gained with the rogaine and even some of my natural hair as well mostly in my temples and direct center of my frontal hairline. My question is, is it too late for me to stop taking rogaine permanently? Its becoming a nuisance and I'm not noticing any significant effects on my temples or front hairline anymore. I'm hoping that I could just stick with propecia and MSM but would those be enough to keep my remaining hair?
  22. bump, this chart looks useful but i:m having a hard time determining what its showing exactly. Can anyone explain? thanks
  23. If you've started on rogaine and proscar, don't stop. Keep on using it continuously even if you don't think its working... cause it is working. I paused on propecia for 1 month and got lazy with rogaine for 2 weeks or so. In that amount of time, my temples have receeded dramatically and my front hairline is thinner than ever. I just wanted to give some advice.. rogaine and proscar work great.. if used continuously.
