  1. Thanks for all the advice guys, I really appreciate how helpful everyone on this forum is. So far, I haven't been able to find Nizoral 2% shampoo, I've checked cvs, walmart...I've been able to find regular Nizoral though, but it doesn't say 2 percent on it. Is it the same thing? Do you guys know where they might sell Nizoral 2 %? Also, I'm really running out of hairstyles that I can getaway with.. My temples have receded immensely. This is why I refuse to use any sort of concealer, when my hair looks ok, I start getting lazy and begin to lay off the rogaine and proscar. advice to anyone new using rogaine and proscar, once you start, NEVER stop. big mistake because just 2 weeks without taking it, my temples have lost a lot of the hair that was gained with the rogaine. I was born with a high hairline, i just look weird when i cut my hair short, which is why I always have it mid length (around the eyes). But even this is hard to style, my hair on my front hairline looks so thin these days and its not even thick enough to conceal my forehead. I don't know if you can envision, but yet again, it looks weird. So should I really stop using baby shampoo? That's the only thing I can think of changing in trying to improve my regimen. Anyone know where I can get nizoral 2% from? Also, can anyone else recommend the Tricomin Spray that Greg P has mentioned? And again, this is my regimen: 5% minoxidil twice each day (4 hours in between), zinc 30 mg, MSM 1000 mg, proscar before going to sleep and johnson's baby shampoo when washing my hair. If you feel I should add something else to my regimen, please suggest anything. again, thanks for all the advice
  2. Sorry for the late reply, my internet access is limited. I've seen a reputable doctor last summer.. Dr. Feller in NY, he only said to me that I was still too young to have a HT on my front hairline and that my recession would continue even after the HT. He said I would end up chasing the recession because he can't tell how much farther I'll recede plus the fact that I may even lose more hair on my current hairline due to the shock of getting a HT done. In any case, can you guys suggest anything that I can add to my regimen? Any suggestions appreciated.
  3. I'm starting to give up in hoping that the hair I've lost will come back.. even with all the meds I'm taking... and I'm 21..its the hardest thing to lose hair at a young age when everyone else around you isn't even worried about it. And I realize my dad has had hair loss as well but not this early. I've also given consideration into getting a HT done on my front hairline but the thing is I'm scared. I'm scared of how it will turn out and also how much more my current hairline will recede. I'm afraid I won't be able to keep tabs on how much I'm receding if I can't even see past my newly transplanted hairline. And I'm also scared of waiting to see how much more hair I"ll lose. It's getting harder and harder to make my hairloss seem unnoticable and I find myself wearing a cap a lot more often these days. I feel like a fool always wearing a cap to class and to work. So I guess I'm asking again what I can add to my regimen.. I'm currently taking zinc, msm, minoxidil 2% and proscar.. (although I've paused on the proscar for a bit in hopes to "shock my system". For shampoo I'm using baby shampoo but am giving consideration in switching to Nizoral 2%). Any help appreciated...
  4. Hi guys, I'm trying to find a new shampoo to use.. I've been losing hair for about 2 years now.. 21 years old and am currently using baby shampoo. Reason being was that I've heard that Baby Shampoo has fewer chemicals in it than other brands being that its made for babies.. hence.. its easier on the hair when washing it. But my hair's still been thinning.. and I keep on reading about Nizoral and Nioxin. (i'm taking 5% minoxidil and proscar a day) Could anyone fill me on Nizoral and Nioxin? Are they just "concealers"? Do they just make the hair look thicker? That's why I was hesitant to choose either one..because I believed that I wouldn't be able to keep track of how bad my hair loss was getting. If they're more than just concealers, do tell, and which is the better of the two? thanks in advance
  5. I've been under a lot of stress lately.. actually, I've been stressed for the past 2 years or so..and depressed. I was wondering if these two factors play any part in losing hair or if its solely on genetics. I'm asking this because I started losing hair just about 2 years ago as well, I'm 21 now. And also.. I've been on proscar and rogaine continuously.. but it seems to be not as effective as when i started using it, I'm losing my hair now.. could anyone recommend anything else i could add to my routine? Any help appreciated

  7. thanks for the quick reply, well I was referring to proscar's efficiency if you've continuely used it for too long. Proscar doesn't seem to be effective as it was for me 2 years ago.. I don't know, maybe its just my imagination.. but is there anyway to decrease the amount to take every week? I break up the proscar into 5 pieces and take one every night. Would it be ok if i took one every 3 days? I don't want to end up having to take more proscar per day as the years go by... I'm only using proscar and rogaine right now but it doesn't seem to be effective as it used to be.. can you guys recommend anything else? any help appreciated.
  8. Is this a new type of drug? Is it recommended and effective? I'm desperately trying to find something else to go on besides proscar and rogaine. I've been on proscar and rogaine for about 2 years now.. and sad to say, I think its starting to lose its effectiveness.. is it true that the longer you take proscar, the less effective it will become? I would hate to have to take a bigger dosage of proscar everyday..
  9. can anyone give some suggestions? Me losing hair at this age is already surreal enough, I really don't want to lose anymore.
  10. Hey everyone, well just to get to it, I'm 21, i've been on proscar (divided into 5 pieces), rogaine 5%, and msm (supposedly thickens hair). But this winter in boston alone has freaked me out, it seems so thin on my front hairline and I have no clue why. I'm still on the things listed above, could it be due to the weather? It just seems a lot thinner than before..I'm worried, if you guys can advise me to take something else or to lay off something, that would be great. Any help appreciated.

  12. well, i stopped taking propecia for a bit, and poor me, i seem to have lost a lot of hair on my front hairline, its pretty much all thinning on the frontal hairline, i'm feeling the same way when I first realized that I was losing hair..ugh. and I'm only 21.. it's horrible to realize your losing hair at such a age, I dont quite... feel young anymore..its actually quite depressing.. anyway, if your taking propecia, dont stop...ever. By the way, when's the best time to take propecia? I'm trying to get back to taking it on a daily basis, when's the best time of day to take it? Thanks

  18. I've been reading that MSM helps thickens hair among other things.. I've looked in my local CVS and Pathmark stores.. but nothing that's JUST MSM, I've seen MSM with glucose Than I went to GNC and they had MSM 1000 mg 90 tablets for $9.99!?! Is this worth it? I remember hearing people getting great deals like MSM 2000 mg 300 tablets for $3.00. Anyone know where I could buy MSM for dirt cheap?

  20. I've decided to hold off on the HT for a bit, now i'm trying to get back to topicals and what not, is there ANYTHING, experimental that can help regrow hair for my front hairline? My hair is thinning fast on my frontal hairline and Rogaine has done nothing for it and I'm waiting for my proscar but that only helps stop the hairloss. Rogaine's helped with my temples but nothing for the dead center in my hairline. Do you guys know anything else that could help regrow hair????? Any help appreciated.

  22. Thanks Why me and hairbethere, I've actually used Rogaine before but stopped for a bit recently because I was hoping to get a HT... thats besides the point.. But anyway, at that time, the rogaine helped A LOT with my temple area and retained the hair that I had in my front hairline. The thing is, my hair in the front now is a lot thinner than at the time I was using rogaine. The follicles have minaturized to such a point that I'm afraid if I start using rogaine again, and that if i go through the shedding process, that the follicles won't grow back... Has anyone had any experience with Rogaine and could tell me if minaturized hair follicles grow back in the front? Thanks in advance
  23. Hi all, well after much consideration, I've decided to hold off on the HT due to the small amount of grafts.. and I"m trying to get back on to Rogaine and Proscar. My question is I already have minaturized hair follicles in my front hairline. AND I"m aware of the shedding process 2 weeks mark from using Rogaine. Will the minaturized hair's fall out BUT regrow again? That's my greatest concern cause as of now, I have very very few hairs covering my front hairline. Also, does anyone know of a cheap place to order proscar that delivers to the US? Or, could you buy it in your local pharmacy? Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance
