Hello All: Earlier this month, I posted a reply to stumper's original post in another area of the forum--to be brief, my experience with Dr. Beehner was an excellent one...after reading Dr. Beehner's reply here today, I think it's obvious that stumper misled us somewhat when he said it was "Dr. Beehner" who performed his surgery--I've had four HT's & I can vividly remember each doctor...I understand that Dr. Beehner took responsibility for his associate, but, the point is stumper didn't phrase his post in that manner...just my two cents!!!

Ahall: I've had 4 transplants myself--2 by butchers & 2 via reputable FU doctors who performed repairs to the original plug procedures...I consulted with Dr. Berstein but opted to have Dr. Beehner & Dr. Cole perform my repair & FU procedures...repair procedures can make a tremendous difference in your appearance & self-esteem...gather as much info as possible before making a choice--that's the beauty of this site ...I would also recommend you look into the credentials of Dr. Vogel & Dr. Feller who are also extremely reputable doctors that you'll find listed on this site...also, you'll get plenty of great advice from other posters who have had similiar experiences & will share their stories...good luch with your research!

Bill: Looking great...your terrific results certainly help anyone who might be "on the fence" about making a HT decision...I know it makes me want to make another leap into the doctor's chair...continued good growth! Mike

Bill: Your showing great progress...the layering effect is starting to become much more noticeable...your crown swirl is excellent & the density will continue to improve...it looks great my friend...looking forward to next month's update!! Mike

Bill: Density is definitely increasing as the weeks go by...because you keep your hair short, it's more difficult for you to get a layering/coverage effect...as everyone has indicated, the crown will always take longer to grow-in, so patience is a must...hang in there--your reward is right around the corner...thanks for keeping us posted! Hi All: This is an interesting topic...I'm an veteran HT patient--my orignal HT was in 1976 when I received about 50 large plugs in my hairline--I got about 50 more in 1985 to increase density...they've continued to grow since they were implanted--yes, they were very nasty looking!!!...fortunatley medical science developed the FUT & I received about 3500 grafts in 2001/2002, which have hidden the plugs to a great degree...one day soon I hope to get about 2000 more grafts to complete the job...I guess we're never too old to improve ourselves, huh? Bill: Thanks for the update...glad to hear that your shock fallout has been minimal...it looks like things are progressing well...I can tell that your going to have an outstanding result--pretty soon you won't be using the hat rack very much...as usual, the H & W team has done it again!...congrats on your great progress--much more to come! I'm glad you found this site before making any decisions...I know from experience that Dr. Malecka is years behind the curve when it comes to a modern HT--I was a patient of his in 1985 & his practice hasn't changed much since then (still using mini-grafts instead of follicular units)...as others have recommended, please consult with doctors recommended by this site--Dr. Feller, Dr. True, Dr. Bernstein & others are using techniques that produce amazing results--yes it's a fact, 900 grafts would be a very small procedure...it is in your best interest to read thru the various topics & responses posted on the site & you'll soon become familiar with what to expect...I'm sorry that you didn't meet with Dr. Pistone, when you consulted there, because he is practicing modern HT techniques...in any case, get as many consults with recommended docs as possible & get a better feel for the amount of grafts that will be needed...FYI, a NW6 patient might need 4 to 6 thousand grafts for a complete restoration if there was adequate donor supply...there's a graft calculator on this site which might help you get a better idea of your overall situation...good luck & good reading!

Bill: Thanks for the updated pictures...your scar is invisible & your hairline looks great--congrats!...as you know the grafts/hair will continue to mature, thicken, & give you additional fullness...I'm certain that your pictures & posts have definitely helped many people who are thinking about HT surgery...continued good luck & growth in 2006! Bill: Thanks for the updated pictures...it may not be apparent to you, but, your hairline is filling in nicely...there's an obvious improvement in density over your original pictures from Dr. Katz's office even without your hair being short...your well on your way now--it's always worth the wait!...after looking at your progress, I'm getting the bug again...keep us posted! Hi: I am a former patient of Dr. Beehner & a veteran of a total of (4) transplants...he performed a 1500 FUT transplant for me three years ago...I was very satisfied with Dr. Beehner's work & have recommended him several times in this forum...as you probably know, he offers combination procedures as well as 100% FUT procedures for his patients...I also thought that his techniques for pain tolerance were excellent...in my opinion, Dr. Beehner is among the best HT surgeons in practice today...good luck with your search.

Bill: I can feel your frustration/concern--I've been there...in my experience, the hair from my first HT seemed to grow in faster than the second...keep in mind that I didn't have many hairs in the hairline at the time of the first HT so initial growth is much more evident...I also experienced shockloss after the second HT--the growth of the 2nd HT tends to be hidden by the existing hair & is sometimes difficult to see during the initial growing phase...as difficult/frustrating as it is, you have no choice but to "wait it out"...the exciting part is that I can see, from your latest picture, that your going to have a dense hairline/scalp when the hair sprouts & begins to grow...stay positive & keep us posted! Bill: I know how disheartening shockloss can be...does the shockloss seem to be happening with your native hair or is the previously transplanted hair being affected too?...I thought I understood that previously transplanted hair was less prone to shockloss...in any case, it generally returns as tkerr22 indicated...good luck! Bill: I thought your latest pictures showed very good healing--your strip incision looked like it was healing well also...I could also see the increased density that your going to have once the grafts start to grow...how much input did Dr. True have on your hairline placement or was that your decision only?...all in all, I think your going to be pleased with the outcome--how could you not be, you'll have more hair!! Bill: The HT looks great...I know you must feel great knowing that you'll have 2249 more grafts adding great density to your previous HT...like you said, the long wait has begun, but, you'll be a different person in 6 months...good luck with your healing & I look forward to more updates as time goes on...take care! Bill: It's difficult to be specific on total number of grafts, but, a full restoration would probably take another 3K grafts, as Jacobs already indicated...your most difficult decision is whether or not to have multiple procedures vs. one more procedure...the most recent pics look good although the camera flash & recent haircut affect the picture somewhat...since your procedure you've received great advice from other posters/patients which will help you make your decision...in the end, your insticts/intuition will guide you when the time comes especially since your being so diligent gathering good information...good luck with continued good growth!

I believe you've made a good decision--you'll be happy with your experience with Dr. Beehner--in addition to being a quality HT surgeon, his techniques for performing a painless/tolerable procedure is remarkable...you'll be very comfortable & in great hands...please post the details of your procedure when your get the chance...good luck!
