  1. DC, There is a lot of pent up anger there. Its simple--just post some photos and a description of the details of surgery. Many of these regulars on this site spend numerous hours providing some quality information for many of us in need of some education. They need to be able to limit people that are wasting their time. Why water the weeds? One way that they can take you seriously is to see proof. They will only recommend doctors if there is a lot of proof and also criticize only when proof is provided. If you want respect please respect others. Post the photos and details and we'll move forward from there.
  2. B Spot, I read your post and further studied the photos and I can see your point about how the temples give impression of hairline being very low. I like your statement about hairline being strengthened-- I fully agree with you. I guess my main point as is yours is that he is too young for this type of HT because of possible future variables and if the surgery is done I would like to see them be very conservative. They can always come back years later and lower things if desired and donor allows.
  3. Userdefined, I'm glad to see that you are open to forum discussion and I'm sure that it is not easy when it pertains to your particular case. Major concern: Yes, although NOW most, if not all of your hairloss is due to traction, we are concerned for you that one day you might start to lose hair due to male pattern baldness. If this is to happen and you have a significant amount of future loss, we think that possibly Dr. DeYarman might have misjudged things and gone too low with your hairline. It is always a guessing game on a young patient and I personally always believe to either wait until the patient is older or err on being conservative. That being said, I am also making these determinations just from your age and pictures, possibly the doc has good justification from his years of experience and his personal examination. I think that it is very good quality work from a technical point of view but just question the artistic and ethical side of it.
  4. Thanks for taking the time for the post. It is a very interesting read and I think that you'll find that many of us are eager to learn and truly appreciate your source of knowledge.
  5. Userdefined, I want you to know that we are pointing things out because we want everyone to be educated on the topic, including the many doctors that frequent this forum. In your particular case, there is some justification for the HT and I think that with your very thick hair (from what it appears) you will have a natural look and everything will work out ok. Several of us (myself included who had a HT at 22) don't believe that doctors should be performing HT on young men because there is absolutely no way to predict future hairloss. If a young individual is given a very low hairline because the doc believes that the person won't have much future loss , this is absolutely crazy. Anything can happen. In your particular case: 1. I have concerns of density matching existing hair. 2. I believe that the hairline is too low. I know that B spot thinks the center is OK but I would have to disagree. If you were 40 my opinion would be the same as his. 3. You are too young. I don't think he should have taken the case. I think that you looked fine prior and you should have been told to wait to see what natural progression will take place. That being said, I would like to see a response from Dr. Deyarmen.
  6. There is no question about the quality of the work as things look awesome. I guess I wonder though about how low the hairline is as you mentioned that your hair is actually somewhat thinning(although it doesn't at all look it in photos). How old are you userdefined?? Is there at all a history of baldness in family?
  7. I guess too that there is always the option of not going to the social event. People might think that you are a jerk (depending on the event) but they will get over it.
  8. NoBuzz, You pobably have little choice but to wear a hat. I guess it depends on the situation. I would probably go with a "pimp daddy" hat to a funeral if I were wearing a suit. There are ofcourse all types of hats for every occasion. My thought is that I would rather have people think I made a bad fashion decision than scare them with the scabs and scar/staples if it is that early in the recovery. If they ask about it, maybe depending on who it is you could tell them or make up some story about having a bad reaction to something and needing to see a dermatologist. That thought crossed my mind with travelling to get a HT. What if they have you take off your hat at security or customs? I guess shit happens and you deal with it. Life would go on.
  9. Panther, I didn't realize that the surgery date was set for this month. I think that many of us were hoping that you would still consult with other docs that might be able to do a megasession of 3000+. As Bill pointed out, there are docs that are particularly good at extracting as many FU as possible and this should be a primary concern for all of us. Dr. Charles has a good reputation and I'm not implying anything, but I do hope that doing 2 1500's versus 1 3000 is truly for your benefit and not his. In a lot of the research that I have done I seem to see that response from docs a lot. Anyways, it sounds like your decision is made and I think that restoring the hairline is critical at your stage. You will be in good hands. Best of luck.
  10. I'm speechless. I'm not overly familiar with BHT and can't believe it was a 4 day process. Why the larger scabs on scalp, I thought it was usually less invasive? Will you have small little white scars in the donor areas? The work does look good and very labor intensive I'm sure. How much???? Please post future pics as I'm very curious. Best of luck with things.
  11. Panther, You say that you are depressed and "hate looking like shit". You don't look bad at all. I think that you are still in a good position. Everyone gave you a lot of good advise and I would listen to them. There are a lot of people in worse hair shape then you are. At your age you still have a decent looking coverage. If you were to thicken up the frontal region things will be super. As you age further things start to "catch up" sort of speak to a natural age of hairline, coverage, etc. And guess what, as others in your age bracket continue to loose their hair, your transplanted hair will be with you for life. Good luck with things.
  12. I think that things look great. Unfortunately the photo is not the best quality and not having previous of similar hairstyle hampers giving a lot of feedback but it certainly looks top notch
  13. Dr. Chang, Thanks again for responding to our forum. I think we all appreciate the fact that you are explaining your techniques and providing some definitions of basic transplant jargon. I believe though, unless I missed something, that we are talking about 2 different things. Most of this post is pertaining to HT of the scalp. There is no question that doing eyebrows requires different incisions and is very refined. I might be wrong, but I think many of us want clarification as to why you are using so many larger MIXED FU on the scalp if you have the ability to do strictly ultra refined like you say do?
  14. Bill, You are not wrong at all. You are just looking for clarification of his techniques. Yes, a doc may be able to dense pack an eyebrow but why is he using such large numbers of modified Fu on the scalp? Many of the patient photos on his site are not spectacular in my opinion.
  15. DHuge67, If I recall correctly, weren't you posting prior to your surgery and looking for info at that time? That was one of the more lively debates that I had witnessed here. You were aggressively defending your decision to go with Pistone despite numerous feedback to at least consult with other physicians prior to surgery. I'm truly sorry for you not being satisfied with results but the education was there for you and you chose not to listen. I understand that you were young and scared, but the lack of reasoning was nonsensical. Maybe this post is nonsympathetic and I really don't mean to be, but please be an advocate in the future to educate other young guys before they venture on the HT journey.
  16. When are you scheduled? Any way if you can post more photos of donor area and sides etc., that way when the job is complete it gives us the total picture of his mastery. You'll be in good hands.
  17. There has no doubt been a lot of thought going into things and that is exactly the way it should be. You look awesome!. I have conversed with you on a couple of occasions but somehow never saw photos until today. Obviously it is always a matter of personal opinion but I always believe in having the strong and more dense hairline and fill in the the crown as you can. Typically it is the hairline and frontal area that most people see and what you yourself see looking in the mirror. You can always have a natural hairstyle that is combed back to add some cover even if you keep hair short. Either way things look good now and will only get better. Thanks for posting and being a great source of knowledge on this forum.
  18. Good luck on the 3rd. How awesome for you!! Thanks for the reply. I assumed that they just had not updated the site but I will call Mike anyway.
  19. I was just looking on Ron Shapiro's website and he defined megasessions as 1000-2000 Fu. Has he just not updated or ??

  21. The real key to this whole process is to educate yourself. Even the best physicians are busy and can't read minds. We as patients have to arrive for a consult with all the necessary key information to ask the appropriate questions. There are HT doctors out there that are just in it for the money and it is forums like this that are invaluable. I feel for you because I too wandered aimlessly into a HT physicians office and left relatively unsatisfied. I look back on things though and only blame myself. You will have no problem doing another procedure in the future with a reputable surgeon that will probably get the results you desire. I am sorry for your bad experience and have no questions about your intgrity, however I don't feel that we as a community should be quick to blast a physicians skills without photos. No photos are necessary however to make a determination on his business practices and bedside manner. It sounds like those suck. Thanks for the post.
  22. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. It does seem as though there is a major issue with there ethics and abilities in most cases. What about them are you most unhappy with? If you posted more photos we may be able to offer some possible solutions that would change your frame of mind. I knew of someone that had a horrific HT from MHR and he wore a hat everywhere and even to weddings.(I didn't blame him) Some of his friends finally convinced him to seek a qualified doctor (this was years ago and I'm not certain but I think it was DR. Seager) and he was able to correct things. He actually now looks great.
  23. Looks great from what I can tell. Although we are almost always asking for closeups to evaluate the detail, these photos may be a little too close to give true idea of everything. No doubt the Fu placement and incisions look good, but can't comment on hairline, angulation, donor area, etc. More photos are needed to give total feedback. Thanks for posting though.
  24. I am a Canadian citizen now living here in the US for the past 12 years. As I have researched the hell out of things for next HT I see that there are a good number of Canadian HT physicians that are highly skilled and praised. Ofcourse there are also many US doctors that I believe are equally skilled, but for such a small population relative to the US what gives? Do they have different training in Canada? Is there more scrutiny of physicians? Is business overhead lower (therefore can hire more techs)? Just curious and always looking for good discussion.
