  1. As much as me and everyone would like to go the FUE route, we all know that there are limitations like 1) Low graft survival rates 2) Limitations in the number of grafts that could be harvested in one session 3) Higher cost 4) Reluctance of a lot of doctors to recommend this procedure Also in my case i live in the US and most definitely do not want to travel to Europe with the quality of doctors in North America. But a few doctors that i have consulted have all recommended FUT over FUE. Can you recommend any doctors that would do a session of atleast 3000 with FUE
  2. Hi Maxxy I understand where you are coming from. This is what makes this surgery so unpredictable. There is still a lot of issues that remain unanswered in this world of hair transplantation even in the best of hands. Dr. Feller has one of the best reputations and i dont think PD could have done a better job in selecting the doctor. I wish there was a mechanism whereby the doctor could do a trail run and determine how many grafts are possible before the patient can decide to go for it. In this case the patient was told that the donor area was as good as three people and he got only 2600 grafts. I have a question for PD. I think even 3000 grafts would have been less in your case. When the doctor told you that your donor area was that good, did you look into the possibility of having a mega session of 4500+..or did you have financial or other reasons not to do so. Guys, please do all the research as possible and meet as many doctors as possible. Please dont rush in to it. I have already scheduled my surgery and would most defiinitely cancel it if my questions remain unanswered even if my deposit gets forfeited.
  3. i guess the concern here Bill is that why were only 2600 grafts planted when the target was 3000. i think doctors should do a better job in forecasting the grafts....i wonder how hasson and wong consistently get more than 5000 grafts in their procedures..
  4. Also, since the scar was taken high and PD is saying that he is expecting that area to be bald, then what about the survival chances of the same grafts in the recipient area!!
  5. Hi PD I can totally imagine how you feel. I think dr. feller might have targeted 3000 drafts but unfortunately could not get them. did you ask him why he could not get 3000 drafts. This is what makes me scared. I have scheduled my surgery with a top doctor on the basis that i have good donor density and we are targeting 3000 plus grafts. i wonder if there is a test that can be performed during consultation as to how many grafts can be removed. I would certainly not want to perform surgery that could make matters worse as i dont want to be chasing my hair all my life. i am beginning to have second thoughts about my surguery now and thinking about cancelling the same...damn..going bald really sucks..
  6. Hi Guys I am sure you know who Shane warne is. What do you guys have to say about the the studio he advertisies. I also beleive ricky ponting and a couple of other aussies have also utilized this studio..anybody have any feedback to share since you guys live down under
  7. That is a great reply Dr. Lindsey. I wanted to know one more thing if you dont mind since you have done some excellent work on scar repair. I know there might not be a definite answer for this but could not help pose the question. If the scar is grade A, could this be concealed by a No.2 or No.3 buzz cut!! also, how would the transplanted hair in the recipitent area appear in the buzz cut. Finally, lets say that a patient ends up having 3 procedures. Does that mean that he/she will end up with three different scars.
  8. Thank you taking the plunge. I have selected a very reputable doctor. so hopefully i should be fine...would you happen to know by doing a fue on the scar how much can you buzz the hair to? I want to be prepared for the worst.
  9. Thanks for your response Anouar. So, lets say i had a bad hair transplant and wanted to shave off the entire recipient area, there would not be any scarring on my head correct?
  10. Hello guys I have seen a lot of threads talking about donor area scar. But how about the recipient area scarring. Since thousands of incisions are made in the recipient area, does that leave scarring marks over the head. I would appreciate if hair transplant patients would respond to this question. I am thinking long and hard if i should go under the knife but want to be well prepared if the procedure does not go well. I can live with FUE'ing the scar and buzzing my hair but am scarred about the potential scarring all over the the hairline as there would be no way to conceal that. Any and all feedback would be much appreciated
  11. Thank you for your reply doctor. I appreciate it. For now, i have bought propecia instead of proscar for my psychological well being. I will try it and see if it works for me.
  12. Hi guys Anybody want to share any experiences with respect to Body hair transplant. I have seen some cases on youtube but always wondered why coalition doctors are still hesitant in performing body hair transplant. Is there a risk involved with respect to the procedures? It would make total sense to me ince we have a limited donor supply to deal with in the first place. this would also put the scar out of equation!!
  13. I have also scheduled mu surgery in October. But my doctor never told me to stop Rogaine. Why should it be stopped? Please dont make random statements like these without conclusive evidence..
  14. Great work as always Dr. Lindsey. Can i bother you for a question..I am sorry to use this post but i have been trying to get an answer with respect to Proscar frim a doctor but to no avail..Hence, i am hoping you can answer this since you are really active on this forum I went to CVS pharmacy to pick up my proscar and was generelly chatting to the pharmacist..She told me that the proscar 5 mg pill is primarily for treating prostrate. She said that the pill is coded and finasteride is realeased into the body depending on the PH level of the blood..i think she meant that if you take a pill that has 5mg, not all 5 mg will be released in the body... Hence, she says that cutting the pill means depriving it of its effectiveness...Have you heard something like this before...Can you please address this as i am not sure if i should continue with proscar or switch to propecia...
  15. Thanks for your reply but i am looking for some information on this. Maybe you can please request Dr. Feller to add light on this. She says that the 5mg pill is primarily made to treat prostate and the release of finasteride is monitered by the PH level of the blood. It would be nice to understand what is going on. I also hope that some doctors read this and please answer!!!!
  16. Guys I went to CVS pharmacy to refill my proscar presciption and was just generally speaking to the pharmacist. She told me something which is really bothering. She says that proscar is "coded" which means that release of finasteride in to the body is monitored by the PH level of the body. She said that it is not a good idea to cut this pill into quarters as this would ruin the entire pill. I have been taking this for one year and i am sure many of you have been doing the same. What do you guys think of this pharmacist...I would really appreciate if some doctors can chime in too??
  17. Thanks for the quick reponse Bill. I am not sure why they gave me generic proscar. Is regular proscar more expensive? Also, what finasteride are you taking? Do you know if cutting the pill into quarters gives even distribution of the tablet..
  18. Hi guys I have a proscar question. I got a prescription for Proscar and picked it up from CVS pharmacy. However, after a week i noticed that the bottle says Generic for: Proscar 5mg Tablet. I paid $83 for 30 tablets I am a little confused as i thought proscar was generic for Procecia. Can you please tell me what your bottles say? Are you guys taking proscar or generic proscar. Thanks in advance
  19. Hi guys I wanted to ask if you guys can recommend where is the cheapest place to find propecia. I do not want to try poscar because of the process of cutting pills and all that. Also, my doctor said that he does not recommed proscar for the following reasons. 1- You will not get an even supply because the drug is not evenly distributed through out the tablet. 2- Also, there are chances that finasteride may be destroyed once the coating comes of. Hence, i dont want to take any chances. I will have couple of less drinks at the bar and save for Propecia..Any suggestions!!Where can i get the cheapest propecia. Also, i want to stay away from online pharmacies!!
  20. Hi Ions I understand from where you are coming from because i am from India as well. I dont think a majority of the people on this forum will get it because they have never been exposed to homeopathy. And you cant blame them either..I beleive in homeopathic as it has worked for me in the past. I have started taking homeopathic medicine for hair loss since seven months from a doctor in Mumbai. I live in the US now but am able to get a periodic supply of medication..Now the big question...does it work???I personally feel that i see less hair falling when i take a shower or when i apply minoxidil on my hair...But, i havent seen any regrowth at all. My doctor says that it should help and that i should be patient. My doctor did not prescribe me scalptone but i will ask her since you brought this up. Please keep me updated on your progress. As far as other members on this forum who are skepital about hairloss, we should remember that we have not seen a great deal of results with Minoxidal or Propecia either. When was the last time you guys saw somebody post postive results from Propecia..I hear more negative stories than positive..and i have a final question for Bill I read somewhere that you have had four surgeries and that you have lost all your native hair..Is there a reason you are still taking finasteride? Because the donor hair is not susceptibe to hair loss correct? I am not trying to offend you but am trying to figure out a long term solution for myself!!!
  21. Is anybody taking Finapecia drug from India. I beleive it has finasteride in it which is also present in Propecia. does anybody have any information about it. Thanks in advance
  22. Thanks for the response More hair....i wud definitely like to take some time off as well. you are right....but i am just thinking....what would be the negative effects if i am thinking and looking at the computer scree all day..would it damage my grafts at all...
  23. Thanks for your feedback guys. I have a desk job but it involves dealing with numbers all day long. It does not involve physical labour. Bill, when you say a few days, what does that mean exactly. i am a lil confused because i thought i cud get back to work the next day. if not, then i might have to postpone the surgery.
  24. Has anybody has surgery with Dr. Vogel. He is in the Maryland area and recommended on this forum.
  25. Hi Guys For those of who that have had surgery, how many days were you asked to rest before resuming work. I am asking because i have scheduled my surgery during a very busy week and might have to come back to work the next day. Has anybody done that before.
