  1. Come on be nice to us older guys. Actually, mine are coming in white but I was told as the hair matures it will become darker. Don't worry be happy mon.
  2. Well, looks like he does fu and fue. The pictures could be better and there is no graft counts nor number of sessions. He appears to used needles and no trico. Have you done a search on this forum or others regarding comments from prior patients, etc..?
  3. Lon, I also had my surgery with Lehr. I won't recommend for nor against him until I see my results. As I have stated before on this forum, don't let $$ be a factor. If you need to get a loan, there are finance companies that will do cosmetic surgery. This will affect how you look the REST OF YOUR LIFE. Spend the money, you are worth it. I am always amazed what people will and won't spend money on. This is one thing worth the $$$ for your peace of mind and results. Good luck with what ever you decide.
  4. I always hear 40-50 per cm is able to give an appearance of "normal" density. The size of needle is something I can't comment on as I don't know. I think those of us with some existing hair are a challenge as you have to balance # grafts with shock loss and future hair loss. Hense the importance of picking the right doc. Its a coin toss IMP because you don't know what you may lose via shock loss that will stay gone.
  5. As far as cost goes he is very reasonable. He charged me for 2000 I received over 2600. But again don't let $$ be your primary factor. I had existing hair (although thin) in the front so I didn't get into how many grafts per cm. Obviously its going to vary depending on existing hair and shock loss (I had lots). I didn't have any temple work as mine were in fair shape. I did indicate I wanted lots of density up front (hense the shock loss). Mine is starting to come in, but still way to early to tell results (less than four months). He uses various size needles depending on the size of the graft. He could answer alot of these questions for you in more detail. I can't really comment on angle (blade vs. needle) as I don't really know the advantages and disadvantages. Call or email him and discuss, as if it is possible go see him. I am a firm beliver in visiting in person. Hope this helps.
  6. Sorry, hit the wrong button, you are messing with how you will look for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!. Certain things are worth paying for, if for no other reason your piece of mind.
  7. I too have looked at this site and have the same conclusions, the verbiage looks very familar and again no pictures. To the point you are NOT buying a car here you are messing with how you will look for
  8. Perhaps, I could chime in a little as someone who has had a recent transplant and learned alot here and other places. Yes, I think you can be misled if you don't do your research. But in a nutshell, you will have to live with your decision. This is a very emotional issue for all of us as it deals with how we view ourselves (and how others do as well). I find it a little unsettling that people here have such wonderful things to say about their experience (yet haven't seen the results). But people should view it as just that a good INITIAL EXPERIENCE. BUT..... the proof is in the results. But information is power and we are all better off because of this forum and others.
  9. Wow, any growth at 9 weeks is pretty amazing. I am about a week and 1/2 short of four months and seeing (and feeling stubble) quite a bit of hair starting to sprout. It is very thin and am expecting it to thicken quite a bit. Patience is VERY difficult, but I am trying. Keep your head up, not much you can do but wait.
  10. When Doctors are telling you don't do it, you should listen (IMO).
  11. Hello, I had surgery with Dr. Lehr about a week prior to you. I have noticed the same thing, but seems to be picking up a little. I haven't called the doc to voice a concern as I felt it was still pretty early. Mine is also growing faster behind the hair line vs on it.
  12. don't get a flap I have heard and read horror stories, even my doc said never do this. Check out some top docs. Were your results poor due to poor growth, mini's or something else? Hang out and do your research, don't make two mistakes in a row. There was a recent article in Men's Fitness on the flap saying how great it was(total BullshiX in my opinion).
  13. Thanks guys for the support, man are you right about the roller coaster. This has been the longest three and 1/2 months of my life. I just keep working out and holding my breath. thanks again.
  14. Just to clear this up, I had a good experience with Dr. Lehr. He was very low key, no pressure and has been performing hair transplants since (if my memory is correct) 1998. Again my advice to all is to do your homework and if your are interested go and talk to him. I drove down for my consult and didn't submit pictures because I wanted to check out his practice and talk to him in person.
  15. Like I said in previous posts, I can't recommend someone until I see my own results. I know alot of people do so, but I can't. I did as much research on Dr. Lehr as I could, called previous patients, checked for complaints with medical association, checked this site and others, etc.. The only thing I didn't do was meet with previous patients. This just wasn't possible for me. He has a good website, but the pictures are not that good of quality. He has a CD with previous patients, interviews etc... For what it is worth. Anyway, I hope this helps.
  16. I am 3 and 1/2 months post op and have kind of the same results, more growth further back than in front. I am not going to get concerned for a month or two.
  17. OK, I think we are talking about two different doctors. I believe Betty Studier is with Hair Transplant Center (Tulsa, Oklahoma) and Doctor Scott Frayser. She started (I believe) with Dr. Norwood which is now run by Dr. Lehr at Norwood-Lehr (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma). I went to see Dr. Lehr who is recommended on this site. Dr. Frayser is not recommended on this site (I don't believe). No wonder all of this is confusing.
  18. Just one more thing, if you are a very low Norwood, you may want to give the meds a chance, if you are on and see where you end up, especially if you are young. Talk to a few quality docs and see what they recommend. Good luck.
  19. If you are looking at Norwood-Lehr you are going to get all FUE's with a strip. Lehr is recommended on this site and my experience was a good one. His tech's did all except removing the strip. Like I indicated before, until I see my results I will not be recommending for or against. The proof is in the results. I think if you go to someone like Hasson etc.. you will get alot more doc participation, trico, blades etc.. Lehr may be doing this now, I don't know. Go see him, ask questions etc... Don't rush into anything. good luck in whatever you do.
  20. I would assume so, but to be honest, I don't think your Testosterone level goes up enough to have those kinds of side effects, just enough for you to notice if you train alot etc... Proscar has a very short life span in your system, so pretty easy to reverse if you don't like the side effects if any. Your call, good luck whatever you decide.
  21. If your are looking at Oklahoma, have you looked at Lehr? I had strip with him 2-1-06. It is still too early for me to see results. I am not recommending him NOR against him. I will wait for my results before I do that. He does not use blades nor Trico, so perhaps you may want to look at another doc, but I think my results are going to be great.
  22. I went on Proscar about six months ago. I have lost about 15 pounds (divorce) but the interesting thing is my muscle mass is up quite a bit (strength also) and I wasn't overweight to begin with. I think it is the Proscar with the additional training. I have been lifting free weights and hitting it heavy almost 4-5 times a week. I am 43, 170 pounds and bench 225 pds three to four times per set (heaviest). I kind of shake my head some times as this is really good for me.
  23. Just curious, where are you on the Norwood scale and where did you have you grafts placed?
  24. dhuge, I know what you mean. My surgery was 2-1-06. I have had tons of shock loss as well, I think some is starting to regrow, but think it will be several more months before I can tell. Man the waiting sucks!
  25. My shock loss is terrible. I am at two and one half months. I will take some pictures and post. My camera cable is broke so I have to take to Walmart to get pictures and have been too damn busy. You look like alot of your existing hair was back by two months, certainly by three months. Mine is very noticeable due to the loss of hair on and right behind the hairline. My doc was Lehr and I hope his techs knew what they were doing. Holding my breath and hoping for the best.
