What you are seeing are crusts which are the tips of the grafts above the scalp line that have dried out…simply follow the post-op instructions regarding the removal of these crusts.

Crusts and scabs are two different things…crusts are dried out tissue and scabs are dried out blood.

How old are you?…yes, your hair will grow back…will it be exactly as it was before you shaved it all off?…there is no way of knowing until you allow it to grow back…unless you start using effective hair loss meds, your hair loss will continue to progress.

Please share some photos of your scalp before you shaved it and after.

Here’s the thing…you need a comprehensive microscopic examination of your entire scalp, especially your donor…then and only then can any determination be made regarding the suitability or candidacy of a procedure.

I have always been a proponent of every patient completing a comprehensive medical history (including a list of all medications and supplements) “at the time of the consultation” before any decisions can be made regarding surgery.

In this current day, considering countless clinical advancements especially over the past decade, there really is no justification IMHO for grafts to be “out of body” for 8-10 hours.

Well said Gats, and the same was also true for me on all 4 of my FUHT procedures…I have never buzzed my hair or kept a short hair length so always having 4 inches or longer provided enough coverage in the donor and recipient zones.

Actually, many patients begin to shed their grafts at 3 weeks post-op…perfectly normal.

There are no clinical trials or proven studies that support any meaningful benefit from PRP treatments pre-op and IMHO, it’s a waste of money…generally speaking, I am not a proponent of using PRP in conjunction with hair transplant procedures.

ZC…I see the area behind your hairline that is thin however it should be easy for a proven talented surgeon to resolve for you…you mentioned that your donor supply is depleted so what about using some beard donor for the crown?…do you have some beard donor that can be used?…will look forward to your progress in your upcoming procedure my friend.

Give it more time..the redness should start to dissipate and should it continue to linger, there are steroid based creams that can potentially help.

The hair follicles that have shed those tiny hair have moved into the dormant phase.

IMHO, warm showers are beneficial for the scalp as well as the grafts 30 days or more post-op…the warm temps stimulate the blood flow.

The absorption of ink into scar matter can be much different than flesh tissue and the composite of scars also varies during the healing process so IMHO, it’s very important to allow adequate time for the ink to enter a stable base.

 Back in the mid to late 90’s, there basically were no websites providing education on surgical hair restoration…instead, there were several large national hair mills such as Bosley, Medical Hair Restoration (MHR), etc. that were running very aggressive informercials, “In my personal and professional opinion,” SLY was referred to MHR where he met Dr. Matt Levitt.

Keep in mind, some individuals have lots of systems, some are partial, and some are full covering the entire scalp…his donor is pretty much used up in the occipital zone.

IMHO, Sly currently wears high end top quality hair systems…I have to state “it’s my opinion” otherwise I could potentially be sued…in my opinion I know the doctor who did his initial procedures better than 2 decades ago (micro and mini grafts) and again, “in my opinion”, the results were not any good.

If you find FUE prices under $12 per graft in SoCal, it’s almost always attributed to the doctor/clinic utilizing inexperienced techs because those techs subcontract their services at much cheaper rates than experienced proven techs…they work on a self-employed itinerant basis and travel extensively…So, ask yourself, “Is it worth the risk of having higher transection rates from poor extractions and/or inexperienced techs placing your grafts?”

Gary my friend…what Melvin stated is true…Honestly, I don’t know how any doctor/clinic could charge less than $12 per graft for “FUE” in the state of California, especially in SoCal like Los Angeles…the same could be said for NYC and especially Long Island because of the extreme high cost of operating expenses especially the business taxes.

Can you find high quality FUE for less than $12 per graft?…yes, but you would need to travel to places outside of California.

A high quality hair system is your best option based on your stated case.

For most individuals the redness will fade as Gats stated, some folks may have lower collagen levels which can also contribute to longer lingering of the post-op redness…there are also steroid creams that can be effective when you are 6 months post-op or more.

Thanks brother..yeah will ofcourse do crown work soon...trying to figure out when can i manage to get some days off from work...actually very keen on doing crown so i can have full head of hairs and can ditch the toppik 😊
