It was Dr. Jones in Toronto and I believe he was the first surgeon in North America to perform FUE…Dr. Feller subsequently fulfilled an apprenticeship under Dr. Jones….Dr. C*le “observed” FUE under the so-called “grandfather of FUE” who’s clinic is based in Australia…In my honest opinion I personally believe that more surgeons would have been willing to apprentice under the surgeon in Australia however I heard he wanted an advance upfront fee of $100,000 paid in full…I was told that a number of times and I was VP of Operations of Dr. C*les clinic including international management of the Cypress clinic…Dr. C*le subsequently decided to market his own variation of FUE as an attempt to set himself apart from other FUE practitioners worldwide, especially in America…but let’s face it, FUE and the other marketed labels are simply “isolated extraction techniques or methods” of harvesting hair for the purpose of transplantation…finally, what many people are not aware of is that Dr. Paul Rose of Tampa made significant clinical contributions in FUE instrumentation and was the surgeon who developed and refined many of the punches incorporating “dermal depth analysis” to greatly minimize transection rates of FUE…Dr. Rose also worked at Dr. C*les clinic when I worked there and he did outstanding work…keep in mind that 99.99% of HT procedures at that time were still FUHT as FUE was in its infancy in America.🇺🇸

I applied the lotion on the ninth day at the end of the healing process (but not completely) I still had crusts Is it possible that I did not damage (burn) the grafts and everything is Ok? there was no bleeding
No worries, you are fine…some of the crusts become very hard when they dry out and I find that it’s best to first soak your scalp in the shower with water and shampoo suds, wait approximately 10 minutes and then remove the crusts.
-
It’s always very important to wait until the scalp is completely healed before applying anything…most clinics advise their patients to remove the crusts after approximately 10-12 days…and then a lotion enriched with aloe vera is all that’s needed to soothe the scalp and facilitate complete healing of the epidermis.

I continue to wonder why there are not more beard cases being posted after reaching full maturity…🤔
-
And keep in mind that the new growth is intermittent and does not all fill in at the same time however once you reach the 6-9 month mark, things begin to look much better…and it’s also why we continually state that it takes 12-15 months to really see the full visual effect.

There’s a reason why you won’t find patient posted hair restoration via stem cell or PRP.
One is illegal and the other unfounded!

It looks like more than 3500 extractions.

I mean WOW, I think both Gats and AI have incredible journeys and am still curious what the yields are from both beard and chest donor.
-
I should have clarified that FUE in “North America” was initially Canada followed by the U.S.
-
Each and every clinic will have the proper equipment (including scopes) to perform and provide a microscopic examination of your scalp…if they tell you that they do not provide this, definitely move on to someone else…if it were me, I would insist on this being performed and included in my in-person consultation…the only variable is that some doctors/clinics may want to charge a separate fee for this microscopic examination.

SD is more common than we think however I can’t remember any patient having a negative impact on their HT procedure.

Your donor area looks like there is some thinning as well so I strongly recommend that you have that area microscopically evaluated after waiting to see how you respond on the meds.
-
It’s very expensive and although it has been shown to be of some benefit post-op, it’s hard to say just how effective it has been because I don’t think there have been much or enough clinical studies done post-op as this relates to surgical hair surgery.
-
Have you talked to Dr. Glenn Charles in Boca Raton?…he is very good and ethical and trained with Dr. Ron Shapiro in MPLS.
It's very encouraging to see that you have done lots of research and that you understand your limitations…you have adjusted your goals and expectations accordingly…also, it looks like you have some beard donor available…is that a possibility to consider?
-
As long as the dermatologist is experienced in performing microscopic examinations.

Beard hair can change in characteristics when it grows out and the visual compatibility factor is very important…as Gats suggested, you can add more in smaller sessions in the future.

Follicle unit just contains x number of hairs, what matters is hair count.
A good donor is above 100 hairs per cm2
I would consider that a superior donor density level.

so youre saying average donor has 80-90 fu per sqcm?
IMHO 80-90 is above average.

Sometimes it’s very helpful to take a break from all of the information and take a good couple months away from it all…then start looking at guys who have the same loss pattern as yourself and which surgeons you feel would give you a similar outstanding result.

You still have some decent hair at 58 and it looks like the beginning stages of a diffused hairline.
-
It’s supposed to be in terms of FUs.
-
It takes approximately 3 days for the grafts to be anchored well in the scalp…after that a loosely fitted hat can be worn for short periods of time.
-
Even with average hair characteristics there needs to be at least a density of say 30 cm2 for the added fibers to cling to.

WOW!!!…you know, this is a huge part of why I have so much respect for the great Gatsby!…an honest man and every word you said brother was truthful…I thought that we were not allowed to mention Dr. Wds name in this community…he is indeed the grandfather of FUE worldwide….several decades ago he told me that his fees for FUE surgery were that high because he does 100% of the procedure himself including all placement of grafts…he said he rarely does more than approximately 300 grafts per day because of how labor intensive the procedure is….I wonder if Dr. Wds concluded that his proprietary information was at risk?…it must have been a quick lunch!
