  1. Guys, We need to be careful not to get hysterical, otherwise it looks like we are on a witch hunt. Of course we are not but are rightly concerened with a few recent experiences with Dr.Bernstein. To make fair comments here I think we would need to see mpd's before and after pics and perhaps some input from Dr. Bernstein.
  2. Godzluv69 also recently posted about poor growth from Dr. Bernstein. Isnt he supposed to be the pioneer of FUT and one of the Coalition Surgeons??
  3. Fl Boy, Mrjb is correct that FUE lends itself to smaller procedures. I know Dr. Feller does lunchtime FUE of 200 grafts. I believe he can go as high as c1200 grafts with FUE. Bear in mind that FUE is more expensive than strip. I think Dr Fellers lunchtime FUE is $8 per graft. There are other recommended Drs. for FUE, check out the Coalition Surgeons on this site. Good luck.
  4. Pat, As someone relatively new to this community and who was somewhat skeptical of the HT industry and the forums I think your actions here prove the true integrity of this site. This is a resource run by patients for patients with the backing of the best HT doctors in the world. Keep up the good work.
  5. I agree with B-Spot, NN & Aqu that from the before pics there seems no need for an HT at this stage. The short term results will obviously be fantastic, however I hope the meds prevent anymore significant long term loss otherwise Hairme07 could be in trouble. Im interested in how we are seeing more FUE megasessions from Armani & prohairclinic etc when other respected Drs. still insist the limist are c1000 FUE grafts. Is this explained by Dr. ability & experience, different techniques or compromises?? Be interested to know your thoughts.
  6. Hi EDLMD, You should re-post in a new thread within the "Hair Restoration Questions & Answers" section to ensure more replies. It will help others assess your situation if you can include some more details on the new post; 1) What age are you? 2) What is the extent of your hairloss on the NW scale? 3) Whats your family history of male pattern baldness? 4) Are you on Finasteride or any other medication to help prevent future loss? Also some pictures will help the other more experienced posters comment on your requirements. And finally, you are fortunate to have many great HT surgeons in North America, please see the link below for the Coalition Surgeons recommended on this site. I will be travelling from the UK to get my procedure done in NYC so please do not let travel impact your decision. Coalition Surgeons All the best with your research!!
  7. Guys, i admit i dont know much about BHT nor seen results bUt thought id chip in with my 2 cents nonetheless.... From what ive read, bht typically takes longer to grow, are mostly singular follicular units so not great for density and terminal lengths are shorter. Therefore at best they could be used to dilute traditional scalp supply in less cosmetic areas. Also not seen many final results. I would also say that as someone just embarking on the HT journey, i do not look on bht as a source of additional grafts at this stage. In other words I wouldnt get a HT in the first place if i thought i would need to rely on bht to complete the process. Having said that I realise it does offer hope to many who have exhausted their scalp donor withot the desired results (for whatever reason). Anyway, waffled on a bit!!
  8. Although ive never heard of this particular clinic, though i'd chime in and say serona complex is largely saw palmetto. This is a natural fruit which it is claimed blocks DHT. It is used by the Advanced Hair Studio and many other clinics with questionable reputation and results. Usually they charge a fortune as well! Best get on Finasteride (propecia)
  9. I think the results look excellent for c3200 grafts. A huge difference from month 5 to 8 as you would expect with more maturing to come. Great work from Dr. Feller!
  10. Guys, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Having tried it for 6 months, I didn't see any improvement in hair thickness nor any regrowth. It did seem to promote the health of my hair giving it a shine and making it grow slightly faster. However, it is far too expensive at ??50 per mth and you should definately stick with finasteride as a DHT blocker along with minoxydil for re-growth.
  11. Sorry, here is the link to the coalition Surgeons.... Coalition Surgeons
  12. Sean, I haven't heard anything positive about NHI or Malcolm Mendelson. You will find a great deal of info on this company on the UK forum below; Malcom Mendelson In short, you should stay away from NHI and instead continue to research HT's to find a world class physician. As Bill said, the best place to begin is by familiarising yourself with the coalition Drs recommended on this site. They have the reputation as the top HT surgeons in the world which is backed up with extensive patient recommendations and pictures. Good luck with your research.
  13. yeh, some great pics Bill. You have definately got a fine maine going on there and from what i understand more thickening to come. I guess that will be your last HT now or do you have sufficient donor for a touch up later if required?
  14. Hi Jrbrass, Firstly, the principle of HT's is that all males have a "safe zone" around the back and the side of the head where the hairs are not impacted by MPB. Hair is surgically moved from the safe zone onto the top of the head to provide cosmetic benefit. These hairs should then grow for the duration of the patients life without the aid of any medication. Finasteride & Rogaine are prescribed to retain the remaining native hairs ie non-transplanted hairs at the top of the head. I trust this helps.
  15. sure!! hair on your a*se maybe from all the grocery store stuff !!!??
  16. Hi HH, I think you have done the right think. In terms of your next steps, look at the coalition doctors on this site and spend a while familiarising yourself with their work. View patients pictures and research this forum and other before making a shortlist of say 4 or 5 Drs. You can then do online consultations by submitting pics of your situ which you can discuss with the Drs over the phone before making your final decision. There are a number of good Drs in New York that are recommented on this site. Hasson & Wong are amongst the best and are based in Vancouver, Canada so a little more travelling distance for you. Again, there is no rush, so spend time researching before you take the next steps. Good luck.
  17. Hi HH, I have read a few articles on Dr Kiely on the web & in the UK press. I am sure he is a reputable Dr. who does steady work. With due respect he is probably in the same league as Dr. Rogers & Dr. Farjo who also seem competent. However, I don't think you should take any chances with an HT and clearly the majority of the world class Drs are in North America. With the Euro/Pound so strong against the Dollar you can combine your HT with a few days break for the same cost as one in UK. After consulting with a couple of the more highly regarded Drs in the UK I decided to make the trip to NYC for my procedure in Aug. I suggest you give serious thought to travelling for your HT in order to get the best possible results. Best of luck however you decide to proceed.
  18. Thanks for the info Bverotti, certainly sounds like your clinic is routinely doing large FUE megasessions. I know Pat was planning a visit during his tour of Europe and will be good to get Pat's feedback on his return. Would be great if you could post pics of immediately post op, donor & final results if you have them available. Maybe on another thread?
  19. Hairbank, Bverotti, Thanks for your feedback which I will take on board, its always good to get others opinions. You are probably correct regarding leaving the crown for now and I would rather have the temples filled in and strengthened. I guess a lot will depend on Dr. Fellers recommendations on the day of surgery. Hi Bverotti, I would be interested in knowing more about the FUE that your clinics are performing as those graft numbers are remarkable. Can you post some pics and provide further details regarding the procedure in terms of extraction method, punch used & size. The more info the better. Thanks
  20. Gents, here are a few pics to help illustrate my situation. I do not think I need anywhere near 3000 grafts although I appreciate I have likely mislead you by stating I was a NW3. The truth is I have never been given my classification on the NW scale by any Dr. as yet and the scale is subjective anyway! You will note the thinning in the crown and recession of the temples I described earlier. Any comments on number of grafts required now my situ is clearer?
  21. I think its fair to say I am at that crossroad in terms of how many grafts I need. Some would argue c1200 is too small to merit a Strip surgery. And I want to be conservative as there is a good chance my loss will continue to a NW5/6 according to family genes (unless propecia works its magic). Again this is why a FUE session would suit me at this stage. I like to plan for the worst and hope for the best
