  1. tronxz28, I would compare prices in the U.S. and Mexico. I have seen news shows in the U.S. that showed American citizens buying prescription drugs in Mexico, because they were much cheaper. The United States has very strict laws relating to prescription drugs. I have no knowledge of how Mexico regulates prescription medicine. As long as you get a prescription from a licensed medical doctor, you should have no problems. Just make sure you're getting the "real deal". Terry.
  2. Points well put by Robert and HBT. Let's not forget that there are our friends "out there" who need our support beyond this forum. Terry.
  3. tronxz28, Your best bet would be to get a prescription from a doctor. I have heard that you can obtain drugs without a prescription over the internet, but I would not advise you to do this. As Propecia can be expensive, you need to make sure you're getting an unadulterated version of it. Also be aware that taking Propecia is a long-term commitment. Terry.
  4. BobbyN, I also am impressed by Dr. Shapiro's credentials. I am also considering him for a second procedure. Good luck on 7/14/05. Terry.
  5. Anders, I think Bill is on to something. I've seen people who have reacted like you due to excessive exposure to sunlight. Definitely check with your Dr. Terry.
  6. Well Chak, it all depends. Hair transplants are usually based on an estimated number of grafts for the procedure. Say if your ht Dr. plans a 1900-2100 graft procedure, and he quotes you a price of $8,000, but extracts 2600 grafts due to your donor hair density, you will not be charged for the extra grafts by a reputable ht clinic.(This happened to me) A reputable ht Dr. realizes you cannot afford to waste precious donor hair. My procedure was in the $8,000 range. Some Dr's charge more per graft than others. Depending on the size of the procedure, I would guess the average ht to be in the $6000-$10000 range. This is only a rough guess. If you check out the various Drs. on this site, they sometimes have information about their pricing. I hope this helps. Terry.
  7. outhere, sounds to me like you're on the right track. If you trust your Dr., perhaps a second opinion would be a good idea. A skin specialist could determine if your hairloss is typical male pattern hairloss or caused by something else. As for Propecia, no one knows the long- term effects of some drugs. What is known, however, is the sooner you start taking it, the better your chances are of keeping your hair. I take Propecia on an every other day regimen and have not noticed any adverse effects. If you scroll through some of the previous posts concerning Propecia, I think you'll find a lot of usefull information. In the end, the decision to use Propecia or not is going to be your call. Good luck. Terry.
  8. Damo makes an excellent point. You can't do enough research. As I stated in a previous post, I thought I had researched thoroughly (2 mos), but in retrospect I should have done much more. Although I consider my results to be good, could they have been better? I don't know. If you have a consultation for a ht, don't leave any questions unanswered. I agree with Damo. Read as many of these posts as you can. There's a lot of experiences both good and bad to learn from. Good luck. Terry.
  9. Switch, I think this is going to vary from person to person. In my case, I started to notice very visible growth at about the 3-month mark. I am now at 9-mos post-op and my hairline has thickened quite a bit. I also have thin hair and a fair scalp. Try to be patient. I think you are at the point where you should start noticing growth. Good luck. Terry.
  10. Damo, just viewed your 2nd-op pics. Hairline looks real good. Hopefully, this should give you the added density. Keep us posted. Terry.
  11. This man states that he hates to "spend his time chatting on the web." Am I missing something here? Terry
  12. Goose, being a veteran of "the hair wars", I can sympathize with your son losing his hair at a young age. Mahair is right. You have to avoid the charlatans and conmen. You took a good first step by posting on this site. The Dr. who told you to do nothing, probably doesn't have an issue with hair loss. Again, seeing a reputable hair loss Dr. is the best way to get a handle on your son's hair loss issues. Good luck. Terry
  13. Anonymous, no situation is hopeless. If I understand your post, you have not had a ht. My advice to you would be to consult with a reputable ht Dr. such as recommended on this site. Only a reputable Dr. can assess your condition and advise you of your options, whether they be hair loss drugs or a possible ht. Don't give up hope. There's a lot help and hope on this site. Good luck. Terry
  14. I, unlike Robert, answer in the most simplest statements... You are a pompous ass!! As a doctor in Sciences, as you state, I hope you are never mine. I worry that you would give half ass answers, because as you state, "loosing my time with trivial and repetitive questions or issues that once been answered/addressed find their way back into a conversation" Here it is simple your Highness... Your a Jack Ass! HBT, right on! I love it. Terry
  15. Hi Bethany. Welcome to the forums. Congratulations on your newborn daughter! Could you explain to me what a hairline reduction is? Thanks, Terry Mitchell.
  16. Bill, thanks for replying. My ht was similar to yours, in that most of the grafts were placed in the frontal area and some in the crown. My hairline looks dramatically better, but I still have an uncovered area in the crown. My Dr. was Dr. Mark Distefano in Worcester, MA.I had 2814 grafts on 10/1/2004. By the way, TMAN had Dr. Distefano, too.His pics are on this site.Good luck, Terry Mitchell.
  17. Bill, nice pics. Looks like you got decent coverage for 1600 grafts. Is this your first ht? I had my first on 10/1/2004. I just bought a digital camera, so I will post my pics soon. Terry Mitchell.
  18. Thinkingaboutit, congrats on your decision. I can't speak from experience with any of these Drs., but they both come highly recommended from the Forum. This post is just meant to give you some encouragement. I think you will "know" the best choice for you after your consults. Good luck. Terry.
  19. Sorry, I read the product description too quickly. Toppek Hair Fattener is a leave-in product and can be used in conjunction with Toppek shampoo and other Toppek products. Terry Mitchell.
  20. Should have mentioned this in my reply to Anonymous. Toppik has a new product called Toppek Hair Fattener. {a shampoo} I think I may try that as well as Nioxin. Has anyone else tried it? The website is http://www.toppik.com. Thanks again, Terry Mitchell.
  21. Anonymous, I just ordered a bottle of Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. I can't answer your question right now, but will post my opinions. Judging from the posts I've read, it's good stuff. Terry Mitchell
  22. Gillenator, when you say you are taking Propecia every other day, do you mean Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or literally every other day? I would appreciate your reply. Thank you. Terry Mitchell.
  23. Thinkingaboutit, obviously you have been doing your homework. As to your first concern, transplanted hair, over a period of months, should thicken and not be discernable from your pre- op hair. I'm 8 mos. post-op and my transplanted hair has thickened considerably. I have had favorable comments about my hairline from people who did'nt know I had a ht. As to your second concern, if you have a competent Dr. do your surgery, you may not have anything to disguise. My opinion on repair surgeries: I think most repair work today involves less than state of the art procedures and shoddy work by less than competent docs. These are only my opinions. My advice: Go with the best. Good luck to you. Terry.
  24. TMAN, I'm still having a problem uploading my pre -op and immediate post-op pics. I get to a point where I'm asked to name a file, and I can't get past that point. I really would like to post my pics. I recently took 8 mo. pics, but have'nt got those back yet. I don't have a digital camera yet, so I am scanning photos into my computer. Any suggestions? Thanks, Terry M.
  25. Robert, thank you for your reply. I will certainly look into this possible solution. After all, this is why the forum exists. We all need to share information, so that we may help educate our peers. Again, thank you. Terry M.
