  1. Expost, Your story is very interesting to me in that i posted here last week about my son who is nineteen and is losing hair, mainly in the front. He also suffered an extreme bout of psyoriasis when he was around sixteen. His scalp became inflammed and the doctor prescribed nizoral which he only used a few times. He has always had dandruff which i thought was kind of odd for someone that young. Since this onset of hair loss begin about 9 months ago i have wondered if the psyoriasis had anything to do with it. Perhaps a precursor to hair loss? Is the hair loss perminent if is was caused by psyoriasis? Any input as always greatly appreciated.
  2. Kg,Terry and Mahair thank you very much for responding so quickly.Kg,do you have thinning in the frontal region as well and if so did the Propecia help to slow or stop the loss in that area? Is there anything else that he can be doing besides the rogain?
  3. I am new here and am in need of some advise from both the veterans as well as some young people. My son is just turning nineteen and is beginning to experience significant hair loss. I just looked a picture of him from last year when he graduated from high school and it is very obvious that he is receding dramatically and has that kind of see through look to the front part of his head. I took him to the dermatologist about four months back when he began complaining about seeing alot of hair in the shower drain. The doctor explained about Propecia and rogain and when i asked him what he would do if it were his decision, he simply replied "nothing". So that is exactly what we did. Subsequent to that visit my son went back to college to finish out the year and continued to call home complaining about his hair loss. When he returned home for the summer we immediately went back to the doctor to get the Propecia, that was about six weeks ago. He wants nothing to do with the rogain because he says it is not a practical solution for when he goes back to school. He began taking biotin and silica for the connective tissue. My son has always been a very shy kid but really came into his own when he began college. I cannot help but to kick myself because even as i was helping him move into his dorm last year i can remember noticing that he had some thinning and was perhaps beginning to lose his hair.At the time i did not want to address the subject with him in fear of upsetting him or undermining his confidence before beginning college. In retrospect that was probably a huge mistake in that it is now obvious to me that time is of the essence and that he could have saved alot of hair had he started the propecia sooner. My question to the veterans is when is it to soon to consult a hair restoration physician? My question to the young guys is how are any of you dealing with this? Any and all imput will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
