  1. Thank you very much for all the responses. This makes me feel a lot more confident in Dr Freitas design.

@NARMAK how much cm is your hairline from the middle of your hairline to the glabella?

@HairRunyour explanation makes a lot of sense. When I did draw freitas hairline and started analysing I felt that it would still be a huge improvement and will look age appropriate too. Dr Freitas did tell me that lowering it won’t look natural. I attached a picture but I don’t have much forehead wrinkles. My hairline to the middle of the eyebrow is 6cm

That's all you can do. Your research, then trust in your choice. You aren't going to a hairmill or even a doctor that's planning to overharvest you. The next and final parts after the surgery and whatever you could try control are then in the hands of your body to heal and grow.

Just be patient and understand its a journey and it will take time to get to the 12 months mark.

Thanks for the eyebrow pencil tip!  This is along the lines of something I would be very happy with. Let me know if you guys think it’s too aggressive?

I would suggest an eyebrow pencil you can wipe off, not a felt tip lol. A cheap one from a store like Primark in black would do well.

In terms of hair loss, maybe he did feel like the crown area loss extended to the midscalp a little. The middle picture shows that a bit imo but hopefully the procedure will get you solid coverage. Looking forwards to your journey and also, you could also ask him to make it a more straight hairline on the day if you want but it's all a numbers game and whether the extra amount is worth it to you visually for the front.

Yh I definitely see the extension from the scalp to midscalp , really hoping that dutasteride will recover some of that or at least halt it completely. Yh I will discuss the hairline with him and maybe show some examples of what I want but in the end I will let him tell me what is best for me.

Thanks man It's been stressful going through the research process and even now I am getting doubts but hopefully I have made the right choice!

That's a bummer. If you can post a draw of what you wanted, vs what you remember he drew, maybe people can point out where it may differ from established hairline principles like rule of 3rd, or the finger up from highest forehead crease, etc. Or perhaps we can point out that it may be his personal hairline principles.

I need to get a felt-tip so I can draw but sure I will do this when I can.

Most doctors do the implantations or incisions. Extractions are often done by techs from what I've seen

How are you NW2/NW3 if you have crown, mid scalp and frontal hair loss? That sounds more like NW4/5/6 territory

I don’t know why Dr Freitas mentions midscalp but I’d like to think my midscalp is the healthiest part. Il post pictures of my situation. I don’t know maybe I am NW4?

So he does placement but not extractions? That's interesting, usually it's the opposite.

Can you post a picture of the hairline you wanted, and then the hairline he gave you? I'm curious to see what are the differences.

He does 2 a day, but I believe both of them are over a 2 day period right?

Yeah that’s right mine is on 11th and 12th December.

Am really bummed out that I completely forgot to take a picture of the hairline he drew! I wanted it to be a bit more straight whereas  He drew it with more curve Than I wanted.

any update on how the consultation went @drawdownfx

    YES so here it goes...

Very sorry about the late response hopefully I will update in as much detail as I can....

I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment and there were 2 other people also waiting, I bought 2 of my friends so I wasn't too nervous. The clinic is immaculate, pristine and very modern. The receptionist told me to fill out a form and I waited patiently for my turn.

The dude next to me told me how this was the best clinic in Spain and that Dr Freitas only operates on you if he feels he can deliver a great result. He said his friend got a transplant with him a couple of years ago and it was great. This was very reassuring.

    Onto the appointment...

I was a little bummed out to see he didn't speak English and it was the receptionist who was translating. I felt she did a good job translating but I did feel that gap in communication and it wasn't as free flowing as I would have liked. I would normally be a little worried by that but it's Dr Freitas and I trust his work and experience. He went through the process he does and what will entail in my operation, He checked my donor area and said it was good and we can work with it. He said he would do 2800 grafts maybe a bit more to the frontal hairline and midscalp. I insisted that I really wanted him to do my temples to which he had a look at my head and said we could do (yay!) He estimates a total of 3000 grafts. He drew my hairline which I must admit I personally wanted it to be more aggressive but he said this would be the most natural so I trust his judgement and will go with what he says but I will try to push him on the operation day!

He said my scalp can be addressed next year, the focus for the first transplant will be my hairline and temples. Luckily for me I managed to secure a date of December 10th and 11th as they had a cancellation so It's not long to go! I am excited and nervous. Hopefully everything goes well... if anyone has any questions feel free to ask I am sure I have left some details out.

I see, i think it would still be a solid idea to get him to give you a look over for the future and see what he says the crown would need.

Also, i agree with the poster above. See how many of the extractions or implantation he will be doing himself if that information hasn't been given. I regret not making it much more clearer to Dr Das that she was supposed to be doing the temple point and very frontal hairline implantation. The techs put some doubles there and as i said in my own thread, i don't think she did the very frontal hairline implantation as agreed.

He does everything except the extraction which I am not worried about as he has an excellent team and his donor management is extremely good based on all the cases I have seen. I saw your thread man I hope the doubles don't take too much away from your end result, rooting for you bro!

How many patients does he operate on per day?

Does he do extractions? If the answer is no, why not?

can he estimate your donor capacity?

He does 2 a day. I felt hesitant asking why he doesn't because the answer is probably along the lines of "it takes too long" and it was something I am not too worried about because if you look at all his patients I haven't seen a single case of bad donor management it has all been pristine and he told me in the consultation also that even after hair transplant you will be able to keep your back hair relatively short due to how the extraction is carried out.

I completely forgot to ask him if he can predict donor capacity argh! I will be sure to do this when I see him again. He did tell me I have a "not bad" donor area and "something we can definitely work with" as I jokingly asked "is it really bad?" (I have fine hair). when he was sweeping through my donor area.

Good question is to ask him if they perform a trichoschopic assessment on the day and know which hair are miniaturised and what your density per CM/2 is and his plan to make sure you get enough coverage.

If i remember right, you're looking to get your crown done, so a good time to ask him about that to give you solid coverage. How many grafts there vs the frontal hairline.

Namrak! Thanks bro. It’s 2800 grafts front and midscalp I believe. Crown is not being touched this year

  12. HI guys I am going to be having an in person consultation with Dr Freitas on the 30th of September this week. My surgery will be on 9th (and 10th) of February 2023. I wanted to know what kind of questions are good to ask in consultation? I have a list of my own which I have created but just curious as to what you would ask and also If you had any questions for Dr Freitas I am happy to ask.

    P.S. I am a NW 2/3 and 27 years old.

I’m currently waiting on Dr. Freitas and his team to get back to me after completing the online consult form.  Hoping his wait time isn’t a year.

There aren’t enough reviews on him that I can find from actual patients but his work looks incredible. I plan on documenting my entire HT experience and sharing on YouTube if I choose him.

Please continue to share your results! Amazing!

If you have a look at the Spanish forums there’s loads of freitas actual patient reviews

  14. I switched to dutasteride after 1 year of finasteride and I have no side effects. Taking 0.5mg. Studies show very small increase in side effects between each drug at their recommended dose so chances are if you didn't have sides from finasteride you won't have sides from dutasteride.
