  1. I wanted to go home the next day but there were no available flights when i was booking so i booked a 6 day vacation in Porto.....and i'm glad i did cos those first days post op i can imagine being a hassle to spend whole day at the airport and connecting flights. But i'm quite used to travel and feel comfortable anywhere, i guess that's the person i am. Also my donor healed quite quickly, and recipient area being also quite well as fast as next day i did roam around without problem....just avoiding recipient area being touched and exposed to sunlight. Maybe it is in my case cos i transpanted small amount of grafts.....i can imagine going for 3000+ grafts being a much bigger hassle and recovery.
  2. Idk, i think he usually aims for 45-55 grafts per cm2...55 in hairline but it all depends on hair thickness, donor and skin type so it is individual. I bring on my own baseball cap, i checked before coming to surgery that cap when wearimg won't touch recipient area. That's why i took extra days in Porto, to heal donor area so i can wear a cap at the airport.....donor heals quickly but ypu need to be extra careful with recipient area. In post op instructions it says not to wear hat or scarf 3-5 days.....while helmets or anything else that would put pressure on recipient area avoid for at least 30 days. My advice to anyone traveling for HT wpuld be to arrive a 2 days before, realx, get to known city and than surgery, after surgery you need to rest and to reduce stress so staying in a hotel/apartment for extra 5 days and exploring city is a really good decision. In these 4 days post-op i do roam around a little exploring town (like a vampire, cos you need to avoid direct sunlight on recipient area), ordering food and resting in my room watching movies, tv shows and reading book.
  3. Hi all, here's my HT (DHI) experience done by dr.Bruno Ferreira. We had online consultation 5 months before surgery where he estimated 2500grafts (hairline, temples+forelock) from pics i sent him, i said i only want ~1500grafts for hairline and to fill previous HT in temples (~400-700grafts done by other doctor over 10years ago) and later when my hairline grows that i'll decide on second surgery as it will be easier to recover and blend in as hairline will be there....so he agreed! My before: Surgery day: i came to the clinic at 7:30am where lovely nurse welcomed me and excorted me to my private room where i dressed in patient outfit and waited for dr.Bruno. When he came in we talked a bit about procedure and other stuff making me familiar with every detail. Than we moved to the other room to take pictures of my balding head and draw a hairline. There i described him hairline i want but gave him free hands as he is proffesional....seems i was somewhat on point with hairline as it was similar to what i expected. Then nurse shaved my head and doctor examimed and marked donor/extraction area.....then we took pics again. Than we moved to surgery room where he examined and measured my donor area with some magnifying camera....we've seen a lot of triples there and he said my hair is very thick and it should give me nice results/better coverage. There were 4 lovely nurses there asking me all the time do i need anything and taking care of me better than my mother....loved those girls, they made whole process much much easier for me. Than surgery started: they measured my blood pressure and gave me Valium (Valium is nice), local anestetic was painless, doctor has some tricks. First extraction was around 900 grafts if i remember right....when they send me my pics and file i'll share it here in details. He extracted singles for the hairline than later there were majority of dpubles and triples with also 4's and 5's. First he made a fine hairline than moved to fill the rest. When he implanted all those first round grafts he revisited all of them and adjusted few....quite a perfectionist! I managed to follow everything as that surgical lamp over me somewhat reflected tiny parts acting as a mirror. Than we had a lunch break, lunch was very delicious (they order it by your wish). At lunch break i took a few pics Than we moved to do the rest, around 700grafts more, totaling 1662 grafts....as said earlier majority of grafts were doubles and triples while singles used for hairline. I think there were also around 25-50 5's and ~50-70 4's. After we finished i went to my room, where another light meal was waiting for me, doctor came in amd explained me in details post op procedure and medications usage and gave me bag of goodies (shampoo, aloe vera gel, pillow covers, travel pillow, saline solution, pills and some other goodies). Then i went to my hotel room and rest for the day. Day 1 post op: Day 2 and 3:
  4. Thnx....will try to create separate thread tonight
  5. Density depends on your hair thickness, colour and skin colour but in general count it as you need 40-60 grafts per cm2....45-50 grafts on average per cm2. Measure surface of your bald area (cm2) that ypu want to fill, add some extra for going deeper into existing hair and multiply it with ~50 grafts. But as others said from the pics seems it's 2500+ needed
  6. I waited 5 months! But i'm glad i did it, he does all the procedure by himself (extraction and implementation), there is team of four lovely nurses helping him during the procedure (separating grafts under microscope and preparing implanter pens) and looking after me to feel comfortable in every moment.....and the atmosphere was great, they and doctor were joking all the time. After each mini session (3 in a day) he revisited every implanted graft and adjusted it if needed.....perfectionist! It was at least 8h for 1662 grafts, and good news was i have a really thick hair caliber so result should be quite good coverage. I was at doubt should i do it or not but man i'm glad i did it just by looking at this pic.....writing this from the room 500m near the clinic, 2 days post op.....took some time over here so i can put a hat on my head and go to the airport. Just to note that i had some hairs at the temples and forelock so he didn't have to fill it quite dense.
  7. Good luck mate, i've just done my DHI HT two days ago at dr.Bruno Ferreira in Portugal.....worth every penny....now waiting game begins for results! Will post a theread these days with pics!
  8. How big was the transplant area and at what density (grafts per cm2)...1700 grafts seems a bit too much for such small area looking at the pics. Just curious, i'm in a lot of calculations for my incoming HT. I plan to lower my hairline by 1cm, hairline is 15cm long so if it is 15cm2 filled with 55grafts per cm2 count goes to 825 grafts....and to fill in previous HT of an area of 20cm2 which i add to it another 600-800 grafts max.
  9. Next week i have scheduled HT with dr.Bruno Ferreira in Portugal, 3€ per graft.....in my case hairline restoration, single day session ~1500 grafts. (I believe if going over 4000 grafts price goes down to 2.5€ per graft) I've had FUE HT 11 years ago with another doctor, went cheap got cheap....bad results (low numbers, bad survival rate and terrible placement angle) but since it was of very low numbers and area i used toppic to mask it for all these years. So my advice would be: rather find a good doctor and go with lower graft count but do it right (hairline first) and later in future when more money available do the rest. Good luck!
