in-person consults are always better than webcam. That being said, I think in-person consults are only really worth it in special or complex cases where there is uncertainty if you are a candidate or not. If you are a 1st time HT patient with no scalp or donor issues - there is not really a need to travel and spend money on an in-person consult. While dermatologists are generally clueless about hair transplants, a local dermatologist or trichologist should be able to diagnosis any potential scalp or donor issues if travelling for an in-person consult doesn't make sense.

I don't think the sun will necessarily f*ck up your new grafts or affect the direct/obvious surgery result, but a sunburn too soon from surgery can totally f up your scalp and skin. Even if you can't see it with your naked eye, your scalp is raw and will be actively recovering for months after your surgery If you need to have future HT's - or in the future will have any health or medical condition that involves the scalp - you may deeply regret any scalp damage you have done with a sunburn - even if the immediate HT is unaffected. -UV can come through windows but in general its not something to worry about -you don't need a hat if you will be in the car the whole time -wear a hat and/or protect your scalp in other ways for the first 6 months at least -sun damage to recovering scalps is no joke. It is not an old-wives tale All wounds - anywhere on the body - should be protected from the sun.

I am considering a surgery date 19 days before a wedding. I am not a groomsman or in the limelight in the wedding, and i don't care about having a buzzed head, but I am wondering if I would still be super obvious in any way that I recently had a HT? By 19 days I imagine all scabbing will be off, so not too worried about that. But moreso thinking about any redness or other obvious signs of recent surgery? If it's helpful, this is a repair surgery. they arent lowering my hairline which i think would be the most obvious sign. The design and shape of everything is fine. What will be done is fixing bad angles within the existing shape.

I am a repair patient with bad angles who has had 6 surgeries thus far. Short story I went to an electrologist today because I was just curious about that as an option. As part of the consult, I asked her if she could remark on my scar tissue, and she said that yes while I do have scar tissue, it was not bad at all to her and my scalp looked pretty good. I am consulting for my 7th surgery and one thing I am hearing constantly from doctors is "you have already had 6 surgeries which means a ton of gnarly scar tissue this is going to be super difficult to work with" ...but the electrologist is saying my scar tissue is not bad really. My question is - is it possible to have 6 surgeries (including 3 repairs - extractions of previously implanted areas) and have scar tissue NOT be an issue?

i personally have never used a spray product, maybe other people can chime in. For concealer, I used to put it on my crown but now my crown doesnt really bother me so no concealer

Correct, i would say the only way to create a completely artificial but undetectable hairline is a wig/system Mayne you can use a hair volumizer or some or hair thickening product. The additional volume may cover a small of the hairline. And having thick, fresh strong looking hair may distract people from looking at the receding hairline

the most aggressive thing I would do is put concealer slightly behind your existing/receding hairline. that may work just fine, but again you still run a (perhaps) minor chance of concealer going down your forehead and causing cringy embarassment. But perhaps there is concealer spray/hold that will hold the concealer in place, I am not sure. But....if you are asking about creating a completely fake hairline and putting concealer or spray on completely bald skin with no native hair at all - absolutely not. Both concealer and spray - without neighboring hair to blend/camouflage, will look fake, especially on the hairline. Creating a fake hairline with concealer/spray IMO is the most risky and likely way for it to run down your forehead and/or look fake.

In general, very high but brief stress (a few weeks or less) at most might delay growth, or it may have no affect at all. Nothing permanent. If you suffer through something super extreme and intense (lost at sea, starvation, heart attack, catastrophic injury, grief or other extreme mental stress that lasts for months or longer) then there might be a permanent effect. But the normal life ups and downs of stress and anger will have no permanent effect (and likely not even a short term effect)

I would realistically say the 'best' would be a NW3 and a small but noticeable crown (so a step worse/more significant than slightly thinning). your crown loss is significant and the crown is known as a "black hole" for grafts as it easily needs more grafts than the frontal scalp. Keep in mind too that this is assuming multiple surgeries and they all must go well too (easier said than done) perhaps this all is doable to you and the time and money will be worth it. just keep in mind you are looking at a multi-year journey.

fix the density first, then after that procedure think hard if you still have concerns about your hairline. IMO you should just fix density then be done with this all

is your hairloss stable on meds? can you accept that no matter the # of transplants, the end-result will never bring you back to NW1 level? you already have very extensive loss at a very young age. I'm just trying to gauge if hair transplants are a worthwhile investment for you.

Putting spray or concealer on the hairline is a dicey gamble. Spray/concealer is best put on the crown or behind the hairline Putting hairline/concealer on the hairline or bare skin itself: 1) very real possibility to slide down your forehead causing alot of awkwardness and embarrassment 2)with no neighboring hair to camoflauge the spray/concealer, it might look fake

I have seen a few instances on Reddit where, if they catch their MPB early enough (say they arent worse than NW2 and have only been suffering from MPB for 1 year or so) AND they are super young (early 20s), i have seen cases where hair regrowth has occured. But even so, these people are the minority. At best, you should only expect to halt future hairloss with meds. Getting hair regrowth from dht meds should always be viewed as a miracle/minority case.

do you have any pics from your surgery? its hard to understand the potential issues you are dealing with since you have no pics and you are not OP of thi thread. not to be rude but you are somewhat hijacking/diverting the original thread. Maybe create your own thread with pics so we can all see the work? As you know, just bc the grafts are accounted for does not mean they are angled well. Shelly Lovitt has a history of f*cking up angles.

I think Dr. Shelly Lovitt is a horrible doctor and yes very reckless, unskilled, and as a former patient of her and Dr. Harris i have nothing good to say about either of them. With 100% seriousness, the only reason someone would willingly see Dr. Lovitt is if they are not educated enough about hair transplants. To top it off their prices are not cheap either. So you arent even getting a discount to be botched.

I have been botched by both Dr. Lovitt and Dr. Harris in separate procedure. They are both horrible doctors. Also not to knock the field of gynecology at all, but Dr. Lovitt is a trained gynecologist. Why would a gynecologist of all people switch into hair transplantation? Would you trust a gynecologist with your hair? Most hair transplant doctors seem to come from facial specialties, ear/nose/throat, etc I went to this clinic some years ago before Harris changed it into "Restore". Quite seriously and objectively, I think this is no different than a Bosley setup You mention Lovitt placed hairs wrong during the first procedures, I have badly angled grafts too. Sorry but I don't think this 2nd procedure will be any different. People should really avoid both of these doctors at all costs. Neither of them are on HRN's Recommendation List, for what its worth

I was botched by both Dr Lovitt and Dr Harris from Restore. Avoid at all costs!

Nader has blown up in popularity this last year and it seems his office is not equipped to handle every single inquiry Don't put all your eggs in one basket and keep searching for other docs.

Why cant you consult with multiple doctors at the same time? To me it seems you sre unnecessarily tacking on another 2-3 months to your overall journey if you are waiting for Nader to get back to you I did also did consults with Mwamba and Feriduni.
