  1. This is going to extended through early 2021 for sure. 80% Canadians approve border closure and it's making me evaluate US Surgeons. I think I may go with Shapiro if he has a sooner date available, which he does.
  2. @Tentpole91 How’s the 6 month looking? Great progress and excited to see the one year mark.
  3. One last question, but I am curious what the forums think of Dr. Ron Shapiro of Shapiro Medical Group? He has availability sooner than H&W and was curious if Dr. Ron Shapiro is a good alternative or better than H&W. I am not seeing any recent results on these forums and I curious about his work in general. Can anyone recommend Shapiro? Does he do good work? Thoughts/comments/concerns?
  4. Yes, that is the one! He has availability sooner than H&W and was curious if Dr. Ron Shapiro is a good alternative or better than H&W. I appreciate your feedback.
  5. Hello everyone! I have scheduled an FUT with H&W, but curious what the forums think of Dr. Shapiro? I am not seeing any recent results on these forums and I curious about his work. Can anyone recommend Shapiro? Does he do good work? Thoughts/comments/concerns?
  6. UPDATE (8/17/20): I just booked an appointment with Dr. Hasson for January. I could have done November, but we do not know if the Canadian border will be open at that point in time. I have decided to listen to everyone's cautionary tales on these forums and go with a more ethical and meticulous doctor I will be fighting for my deposit as I booked on the precedent that Diep's work is of industry standard, but they are definitely not when looking at new patients I also talked to Dr. Konior but he was just a bit too pricey for me. He wanted 25k for roughly 3500 grafts FUT, ouch. Great doctor but too expensive. Will post a full journey in January
  7. WOW this is amazing advice!!! Thank you so much for your help and this is incredibly insightful. I will write down everything and make sure I get the material you recommend. Regarding isolation, I will be holed up in the guest room from date of procedure (Thursday) and fly out on Monday around 1PM. It’s a very quiet place and my in laws are retired, so they don’t do much. Do you think I should reschedule and fly out on Tuesday instead? Also, should I not be hanging out with family and just lay in bed for 4 days? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your support and help here.
  8. I appreciate the insight. So here are the forum’s consensus on Diep: - His donor management for FUE sucks and his punch size is too big at .9mm. I’m doing FUT, but his scars can also not be the greatest there either - In the past year or two, he’s been implanting hairs in more straight lines than what is normal/natural - He achieves great volume and his hairlines can look great depending on the recipient hair filling out - He does direct consultations and establishes a good rapport with patients before surgery My conclusion: - I am most likely sticking with Diep based on the fact that he still has way more documented evidence and great results on volume. His evidence can be misleading and he may only post the best, but he still has the most videos/photos on a consistent basis. He is also local to me and I have family I can stay with for the procedure/recovery. - I talked to some past patients and everyone was happy with the result. However, all of them did bring up the above issues and it’s a known problem. I appreciate everyone’s help on the forums and will start a new thread with Diep’s surgery. Wish me luck!!
  9. Fair point. Do the research and evaluate your options. I had worse hair loss at the age of 18 more aggressive than the op. I’m only 27 now and it’s only gotten worse, so anything is possible with the right perspective. Again, confidence comes within, not based on appearances IMO.
  10. I think you can still get women as long as you are confident and own it. I’m losing my hair pretty badly and my current wife does not care (was losing a ton before we even got married). I think you just need to find the right people. I believe people should receive Hair Transplants for themselves and not to satisfy others. If a HT makes you happy, please do it. If it’s for the sole fact to pull in the opposite sex, I would rethink your strategy/ideals. If it’s for yourself and others, then that’s a better story.
  11. Fin can have permanent side affects like loss of libido. I cannot confidently recommend this until there is a safer drug on the market, but imagine not having a sex drive for a good part of your life. Maybe even forever... I am staying away from something that would literally take your manhood away. I have met some people that it ruined their lives. Does anyone have any better stories or confidence in fin? If not, I am staying away as should others per my dermatologist.
  12. Hasson quoted me roughly the same price as Diep and wants to do 3 - 4K grafts. They have been more informative on the process than Diep’s assistant, but I gotta admit, I like Diep’s patient’s hairlines better than Hasson. Hasson’s hairlines seems more conservative, while they don’t look bad, they are not as prominent as Diep’s. This may be the deciding factor for me...
  13. Thank you for your input. Once I get final pricing from Hasson, I may cancel my surgery with Diep. It seems like Dieps quality of work has gotten worse and that scares me. Only problem is Hasson is in Canada and we have to wait until COVID is over until I can get the surgery. Note: I have emailed Dr Diep with my concerns on his pattern placement and submitted pictures of other patients. I am asking for his thoughts and opinion. If he is able to assuage our/my concerns and promise more natural looking results, I’m game and will stay with him.
  14. @Tentpole91If you knew the pattern would occur with Dr. Diep, would you have chosen Hasson instead?
  15. I keep reading that Diep's patterns are not ideal which scares me very much. I cannot deny the volume he is able to achieve, but I just don't want my hairline to look fake.
  16. I just talked to Dr. Hasson's office and they told me they could easily harvest and implant 3500+ and much more with the FUE. They have done 5k grafts with FUE and they said it would be done in two days. I am on the fence again here... Their FUT is also much cheaper as well.
  17. Thanks for all your help! I have decided to stay with Dr Diep as I like his FUT results and I have family that live near his office, so I can stay local without paying for hotel costs/etc. I also like how Dr Diep took two meetings with me and addressed all my concerns, so it made me more comfortable. I will start a new thread with all of my results and progress.
  18. I have scheduled my first hair transplant surgery with Dr Diep for next month. I love his results and wanted an FUE from the very first consultation 5 years ago. However, my second consultation 5 years later, he is recommending FUT as my hair loss is really aggressive and said that I would like my results better. He said he could do an FUE, but FUT was a better choice based on how far gone I am. He also said he could do a combo FUE + FUT but that was not really cost effective and he did not recommend it. In light of the above, I was very excited and super happy with the results I see based on his FUT surgeries. However, I started to peruse these forums and noticed that people are saying to RUN if you had to do an FUT with Dr Diep. I read that his scarring is bad and that it was not as good as other FUT surgeons like Hasson. Also that he is way too expensive for FUT. I am now paranoid and I already paid my 1k deposit. I am officially second guessing my surgeon choice and this is scaring me a little bit. Should I cancel my surgery with Dr Diep based on his FUT? I see some fantastic results and feel good about him being upfront and honest with me throughout the process. My gut instinct has always told me that Dr Diep will be the only surgeon for me, but I am now seeing he may be the best at FUE but not great at FUT. I do not want to cancel but these forums are making me second guess Dr. Diep's ability to do the FUT. What are your thoughts on this? Should I keep my surgery booked with him?
