Why would you pull out transplanted hairs? Did you ask your surgeon if you could?

Lmao, I am not literally daily pulling them out. I just tried it on 2 hairs to see why they weren't growing nor shedding for 2 1/2 months. And even If I did kill it, I won't cry over 2 grafts. Just want to know what's going on.

  2. I am 2 and a half months in my hair transplant. While I can feel some popping, and see some tiny hairs come to life, I have a question.

Whilst around 85% of my hair has shed, and around 10% kept on growing after transplant, there is a small amount (5%) around say 100 grafts maybe, where the hair just didn't do anything after the transplant. It just sits there and does nothing for 2 and a half months, it doesn't grow, doesn't shed if i rub it, nothing. So, I took tweezers and just tried to pull on the hair to see if it's even still attached to the follicle, and the answer is a big NO. It gave literally no resistance at all, none whatsoever, when I started pulling I got scared since I expected some resistance but it gave away none, and stopped pulling and the hair was still in my scalp halfway out. So I kept pulling on it and it came out of my head with no resistance at all. I tried the same on another hair which did nothing with same results.

My question is, does this mean that this small amount of hairs that did nothing are just dead grafts? Or something else? I saw no bulb at the end of the hairs just black hair completely.

    Help would be appreciated.

Your donor is getting depleted wether you can see it or not depends on the surgeon.

like I said I’ll take a stretched scar and a lot more hair on head.

"alot more hair on head" is stretching it. A few hundred grafts more, yes.

Also, not everyone shares your opinion. Maybe OP wouldn't trade a stretched scar for a couple hundred more grafts on his scalp.

Says no guy ever that pays thousands of dollars for hair.

do research into both techniques and weight in the good and bad.

You do realise that sometimes people change their minds? They can get bored of hair? Or say, are not pleased with the gotten result, and even though they paid thousands of dollars, they realise they look better shaven? What are you on about mate..

Everything I’ve read recommends 3-4x per week, the smaller gauges do nothing for me, I have a low gauge but it doesn’t feel like I’m doing anything. Maybe @CosmoKramer can chime in.

    https://dermarollerstore.co.uk/pages/derma-roller-for-hair-loss

"Use a shorter needle length derma roller (0.2mm-0.5mm) several times a week to enhance absorption of minoxidil/hair loss treatment. Use a longer length derma roller (0.5mm-1.0mm) once a week to once a fortnight, to promote regeneration of the hair follicles."

    https://hairverse.com/dermaroller-hair-loss/

Dermarollers with smaller needles have needles measuring 0.25 mm to 0.3 mm. It is okay to use the 0.25 mm roller everyday if your scalp is well tolerant of everyday treatment. Otherwise, treatment every other day is also effective.

    0.15 – 0.3 mm dermarolling – every 1-3 days.
    0.5 – 1.5 mm dermarolling – every 1-3 weeks.

Larger dermarollers with needles measuring 0.5mm to 1.5mm are the ideal instruments for boosting the production of endothelial growth factors.

I would advise using them once a month, but you can also use them once weekly if you can tolerate weekly treatment with these dermarollers.

So yes, I don't know where you've read all those that recommend 1.5mm at 3-4x per week. That's definitely over-doing it. The repeated damage you cause to your epidermis and dermis shouldn't be as often as 3-4x a week. The increased circulation you get from the damage caused from a 1.5mm needle definitely doesn't require you doing it again the next day or the day after, the effects are longer-lasting.

I wish you lots of luck in your adventures of micro-needling, but I definitely don't wish you to hurt yourself or your skin tissue.

A lot of doctors push for FUT because it is a lot easier for them that's why doctors charge more for FUE than FUT, reading transection rate etc it's bullshit, doctors who push for FUT come up with stuff like that. Go for FUE with a skilled doctor and don't risk having to deal with a scar behind your head, the scar can stretch etc, lots of guys on the forum went for scar repairs, imo FUE is the way to go and it's not even a question unless you are completely bald maybe but no.

Although FUT does yield more grafts in the first place, at the beginning, it's definitely not that much grafts that it justifies the huge barbaric scar it leaves on the back of your head. It also forces you to wear longer hair on the back for the rest of your life. God forbid ever wanting to just quit hair and shaving your head, no way you can do that. So I agree, whilst it does have a better yield a bit for a first procedure, FUT does not justify the complications it leaves behind. FUE all the way IMHO.

I have the same problem lol. I'm in 3 months post operation as well...  they say on the third month you are starting to see some results...  I think the hairs that aren't doing anything are in the "dormant phase"... the hair's life cycle is 3-4 months, so hopefully they will take off... do u have a lot of those little white hairs (vellus hairs)..  they are supposed to develop into full hairs as well I believe. just stay optimistic

    How's it going so far?

  8. 2 Months Post-OP. Not much of a difference from Month 1, still in the ugly-duckling phase. I may have just noticed yesterday a couple of new hairs sprouting in the front of hairline on the left side (5-6 new hairs), but I have been in Panic mode for literally the entire first month, worrying if I'll have any growth, probably everyone has these doubts I assume. I just hope some good growth comes along to surprise me by month 3. Btw I just realised that my procedure was a DHI, not a regular FUE, because the Doctor used Choi pens. (Didn't really notice because I was sleeping during the procedure. I've been cutting my hair to a grade 3mm every 14 days to avoid the bad aesthetics of the ugly duckling phase. WIll stop that now and let all the hairs grow since transplanted growth is supposed to start soon..

I use topical minoxidil and finasteride solution, as well as ketoconazole shampoo 2% (1-2x a week only), and a saw palmetto shampoo on a daily basis. Will start microneedling soon.

DHI, DHT, stick and place, none of this is new. It doesn't matter what method you get. Here are the facts, you are young, you have an advanced hair loss pattern, and you have a lot of miniaturized hair. Think of getting a hair transplant like putting a bandaid on a gun shot wound. You need to stabilize first, before considering a hair transplant. If you have already been told no by a non-hair mill, not to have a hair transplant- you have your answer. Really stick to dermarolling and minoxidil, give it at least 6 months. In the meantime, use hair fibers, they are a god send.

If you don't mind me asking, which hair fibers do you use?

I did do this about 2 weeks after my procedure and it worked well to be honest. I hadn’t shed yet so it kinda gave me a preview Of what I was going to get, it was awesome lol.... In the end it didn’t look The same but I don’t think the make-up messed anything up.

i use to wear hard hats all the time with a fitted cap underneath because I had long hair.

How did it look different? Do you mean not all the grafts kept on growing hair after shedding, or?

  11. IMHO you need to be true to yourself and not let hair define who you are as a person. Hiding it seems dishonest. After 2 weeks everything mostly looks normal besides some residual pink pigmentation on where the hair was implanted, and tbh with you I didn't hide it, and not anyone even asked me if I did a HT and I didn't catch anyone looking. People mind their own business, and they don't care as much as you think, especially not as much as you do. If you are still keen on hiding it, I can't tell you that I know of any way other than a hat and concealers anyway.

  12. IMHO, even a technician can do a better job at implanting grafts than a doctor, if he has more experience and time spent doing the actual implantations. Who do you think would implant better, a technician who does it every day or a doctor who does it say once a month? Both are humans, and implantation is mostly about practical knowledge anyway, not so much theoretical knowledge (which the doctor has more of). So I'd say it depends who you trust more and who is more experienced at the procedure. It's generally considered safer when a doctor does it because he can be held accountable and is expected to know what he is doing, rather than a technician who may or may not have proper training and experience.

  13. They arent detrimental to your result, the only things that you could really benefit from are finasteride, minoxidil, dermarolling and to some people ketoconazole. Everything else is just unnecessary especially if you are already able to benefit from some of the things listed above. So biotin tablets wont really help you to regrow new hair well, no.

  14. Hey guys. It's been 5 weeks since my HT. While some of my transplanted hairs kept on growing, most of them shed around week 3-4. However, I started applying minoxidil on my head after week 2 as prescribed by the doctor for maximum results. Whenever I apply topical minoxidil on the recipient area around the hairline, even at week 5, I can notice small hairs (1-2mm) in length sticking to my fingers, obviously falling off my scalp. Am I massaging the minoxidil on my recipient area too hard (dont think this should be an issue at week 5) or is it still some shedding thats occuring thats normal?
