In my experience Id suggest an Avalon Organics hair thickening shampoo, its free of parabens, alcohol, and all the nasty chemicals. Full of Vitamin E, Saw Palmetto (which acts as a DHT blocker btw), and Biotin. Its amazing and cooling really soothes my scalp way more than the baby shampoo I used before it and smells of plants. Really nice. A bit pricey tho - 400ml bottle cost me around 17$ with shipping.

I suppose it depends on the depth of the derma-roller. Say 0.25mm is fine, while 1.5mm will get the minoxidil in the bloodstream.

Saw palmetto as a DHT blocker, ketoconazole (Nizoral) 2% shampoo 1-2x a week, and microneedling all should help be alternatives since you cant use fin or minoxidil.

As much as research does support your claims, I do believe alot of it is placebo effects. When people are expecting their libido to drop, the overthinking of the person does definitely has a higher impact than the actual effects of finasteride on your DHT. Fin doesn't even remove all of your DHT from serum, just reduces the amount. It's still there. It's not like you have no libido and can't get an erection because fin removed all your DHT. It's the overthinking that ruins it much more than fin itself. Try it and see how you react (how your psyche reacts) don't worry and try to forget you're on fin. Especially if you're a younger person, I bet you won't have any problems.

1 Month Post-OP. Most of the transplanted hairs have shed while a small amount remains to grow. I expect more to shed until end of week 5-6. I am on minoxidil & topical fin solution, ordered a dermaroller which ill start using soon, and a biotin-saw palmetto shampoo. After end of month 2, doctor suggests Nizoral shampoo 1-2x a week.

82F, Morr F, those are all just brand names. The point is in the ingredients. Minoxidil 5% and Finasteride 0.1 or 0.25% topicals are what you should be aiming at. Also make sure the product has lipids in it to avoid systemic absorbtion of the Finasteride. I think it's very good, and for the people asking, it's available for purchase online without the need of prescriptions etc etc, just like minoxidil.

Not all but some should yes, to me like 70% of hair started growing right after ht and they are as long as my normal hair now at week 3, while 30% of hair is still small and not growing at all since HT. It depends if the follicle was too shocked and stopped growing the hair while being outside of body or if it managed and wasn't too shocked and then it just kept on growing when they were implanted again.

I am currently past week 3 of my HT and for the last 5 or so days I definitely noticed hairs on my fingers when washing the recipient area or putting minoxidil on it.

You can always do online consultations with detailed pictures and get opinions from good doctors.

Hey all, I just wanted to ask you what do you think about using electric clippers on the whole head (donor AND recipient areas) to buzz down your hairs down to 1-2mm so it doesn't look as bad during the ugly duckling phase?

I know all of you will say to consult with my doctor, and I will, but I am just asking for your thoughts on the subject. To me, since the grafts are absolutely anchored at this period of 4+ weeks, why would anyone advise against electric clippers at this point? Basically 80% of the hairs have shed anyway, so it's not like you can do some damage to the grafts or pull the hairs out when they shed anyway.

Thoughts?

If I may ask, why are you so opposed to using topical minoxidil?

Tbh I'm in the same boat as you. I had my first HT around 3 weeks ago and when I closely inspect my scalp, in between my growing transplanted hairs I can see some hairs still the same lenght that they were the day of the operation, haven't moved by growing or shedding ever since, they are just there inside my head. It also got me worried that only the growing hairs are healthy and survived, but people say that all of those hairs will start growing eventually. Which I hope is what happens.

Paddy recommended Aloe Vera and it really helps me with the itching and soothing my HT area.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of side effects do you get from topical minoxidil 5%?

It's totally fine and looks natural, I've seen older people with 15 year old hairlines due to good genetics, no one will think it's too low. Don't worry about it.

How long have you been taking finasteride? It takes some time to see it's results. You stopping taking minoxidil definitely sped up the hair loss, which should stabilize after you get back on minoxidil. After being on minoxidil and finasteride for 6 months see if there are any positive results. If the results are good, keep on applying the meds until you see the effects wearing off. After which you will need a 2nd hair transplant. In time however, you will definitely need to accept that you will need a 2nd hair transplant to add hair density to your crown area. Until then, you can buy some time with minoxidil and finasteride. So yes I suggest you to start using minoxidil 5% and in 6 months see the results. If you used liquid then try using foam maybe you will have less skin side effects.

Are you using anything right now for hair loss??

U can get a haircut day of surgery if you want.

IMHO there is future in this and it's promising, but it will be quite expensive in the beginning for sure. Tens of thousands.

So basically, the patient didn't die because 9,000 grafts were harvested, instead, died from an allergic reaction to the anesthesia, because the doctor didn't do skin tests before administering it. IMHO, they should take away his medical license so he cant practice medicine anymore and put him in jail for a long time.

I haven't done any HT's in Turkey, but based on all the research I've done, if I were to do one in Turkey, I would 100% go to the HLC Clinic in Ankara.

There were some studies which showed that it blocks DHT from destroying hair follicles. And I'm sure that for some people, in smaller quantities, it does. But desperate people always think its a magic shampoo or something and use it everyday, and even if it works in blocking DHT in small quantities once or twice per week, when u use it every day, it's abrasive and harsh on your scalp and hair follicles and destroys your hair and does more damage than help.
