Great tips Shifty. I've been using Finasteride for 6 months now and my crown has almost doubled in thickness. Sadly not much has come back in at the front, though I'm going to wait 6 more months to see before having a hair transplant!
Have you tried derma rolling the front? I think its worked wonder for me in conjunction with the other stuff.

Hi shifty, other than fin/min/derma what’s the next most important you think? I can’t quite be bothered to do your whole list but maybe add one more, I’m on fin/min/derma/nizoral now
I never used nizoral just an fyi. I bought it but ended up throwing it away and using the other brands.
I think they main thing is, to make any type of break through, consistency. Don't wake up one day and say, "Ah forget this ill skip this today." And if you have to and its possible (like derma rolling as an example) do it the next day.
The easiest things are anything you put in your mouth because they don't disrupt your day at all. Like any pill its pop and go.
For me the toughest is derma because it takes me 20 minutes and hurts like fuck. But I never miss 2 times a week.

Just do this would look better

Shifty, if you put your regimen in your posting signature, every time you would make a comment on somebody's topic it would increase the topic posts page count by 1!
How about adding these instructions to your last testament and will for your tombstone:
Hair lies Shifty with his hair thanks to...
<insert regimen as of last day>
I added it! lol Also I am never dying so there's that.

Happy Anniversary to me. Today marks exactly 2 years since starting the journey. I started with Finesteride 1mg September 26 2018.
Below is taken earlier with some cbd spray in front and Minox on top so its a little wet/matted. But also gives a great view of how I have fared over the past 2 years. I combed it all in the direction I believe it naturally wants to go in as well.
I started to use the derma roller lower on the hair line to see if I can activate other follicles and lower the hairline. Will be a good experiment. I started this knowingly last night.
Anywho, I've been super religious since day one with everything and so far its payed off.
For comparison. The first picture was taken late 2015 early 2016 and it got considerably worse in the 2 years after. The crown was already gone by that point. The next 2 years the front temples just disappeared. The red circle pic is I believe from early 2015? (maybe 14? I label my pictures by date now) when I realized spiky hair did not work anymore so I tried to grow it out. What was I thinking lol. You can actually see the progression from the 1st and second pics (reversed)
** corona virus and lockdown and a long life lol has completely made me misinterpret time, days weeks months all melt into one so even the dates I am posting might be wrong. I cant even believe I started this 2 years ago today, I had to scroll back into this thread to find out when I did. Thankfully I posted it! Someone asked me how old I was the other day and I had to think about it LOL

@Shifty I tried following your regimen for nearly a yr and it didn't work for me.
In your first thread you mentioned - "42 yrs old - hair loss happened really fast (between ages 39 and 41) no longer losing hair - good skin laxity as far as I can tell - decent donor" - do you think you had some other scalp issue that caused hairloss and not MPB?
I have been using everything else other than Fin and absolutely no improvement for me:
I use:
Lipogaine Shampoo
Lipogaine Conditioner
Azelaic Acid with NO Minox
Lipogaine Minox
GNC Vitamin
Zhou Nutrition Hair supplement (started 4 months ago, taking 1 per day and not 2).
Dermarolling once a week 1mm
Laser cap twice a week since 2 yrs.
I give up..LOL.
Well, the first six things on this list I did not use, I dont even know what Lipogaine is. lol Also I derma twice a week and havnt used a cap until recently.

I ask this question because how many people are being told there are no other alternatives than an HT when there clearly are? I was told this even after a doctor used a magnifying glass too look at my head and the follicles. I've seen some fairly terrible stories on this site over the 2 or so years I've been a member, some with some without pictures.
Is what happened to me so unusual that most are willing to go under a knife instead of, and spending sometimes 10's of thousands of dollars? I thought my hair was gone for good, I was bald in certain spots for a few years. I remember the day my niece saw me bending over and started making fun of me because she noticed thinning in my crown. (kids lol I should have started that day on this journey) Its why I asked the Telogen question because the front temple areas were full on gone (with my big head it was so depressing lol) but have come back fairly decently.
That picture is me, so is the below one. I may have posted both somewhere in the thread I am documenting my attempt to grow it all back. My hair is far from perfect but it continues to grow in areas i thought it would never again without a HT. A tiny bit of Toppik on the front left and crown (not a lot at all) and boom people are complimenting me on my hair every where i go.
I still have a small spot on my crown that I am hyper aware of so hats are still a thing for me, but when I can I'm going to give a couple other things a try (see other thread when I do)
Maybe there isnt a magic pill yet even though I'm taking it when they create it lol, but maybe there is something else?

But I've seen a thread on the forum, about a guy just using some meds, with various herbs and spices from the colonel's secret recipe, and he not only halted his substantial loss, but got alot of re-growth! I'm going go try to find the thread and link it.
It was my thread lol kind of why I am asking
-
I hear this a lot. Is there a time frame? is it case by case? Can telogen phase seem permanent? Is it complete horseshit? Here is a question. Would you think the below picture could grow hair back?
-
I am using minox now, I have used it before by itself and it did absolutely nothing so who knows if it is doing anything now tbh. I never had a massive shed. if you look at my post years had went by where no hair grew where now hair is growing. At what point do you say hair wont come back?

Did you still use the biotin with bamboo extracts? I saw it on a previous page but not on your final breakdown?
I do. same brand. I was actually thinking this morning as I took my 2 capsules if I should cut it out. Not really sure.

This is what I use and it works well. Just get it from a reputable seller. Lots of knock offs out there.
I get this but is it as effective and if not how large of a difference has been noted. I take regular fin now started doing every other day. But obviously the no sides or less sides is a huge selling point for the long haul especially considering I am doing every 2 days as opposed to every day. Should be noted I have been taking Fin for 2 years this month.

Topical finasteride works and has been peer reviewed:

You can search for it online and eBay has it as well. I use the topical finasteride/minoxidil combo myself
Can you sum this link up in a pill vs topical reply? lol

Excellent. Dr Carlos Wesley sells a mix of 0.04% Dutasteride, 0.1% Finasteride, 6% Minoxidil, Retinol & 0.1% Caffeine. as well as just 0.5% finasteride spray. Which one do you think i should try?
I'm going to inquire about this. Been wanting to try out the topical so I can stop taking the pill. He's in NY so this post is very valuable to me lol thanks.

There’s been studies that show it’s a pretty potent DHT blocker, that’s why I’d like to get my baseline DHT levels checked, and then again after a few months of use.
I used it for 7 or 8 months months every day. Maybe its just one of those things where it works for some and not others. Not worth buying them for me. There is also extract in my shampoo so maybe that's enough.

i am taking this at the ,moment.. so am i right that people think DHT blockers make a noticeable difference in your hair and not just holding dht back? also is minoxidol a DHT blocker or just to thicken up your hair?
Min isn't a dht blocker. it stimulates growth. DHT by definition can assist in regrowing hair because of their mechanism if the follicle isnt completely dead.

I never heard of the reduction but I have been taking a collagen supplement for a few months now. From what I have read collagen supplements can take a very long time to actual show results, like up top a year.
