    Splitting hairs,

I apologize for my delayed response as I am just seeing this topic. Dr. Lorenzo was recommended sheer while he was in UK but you are correct,  when he went back to Spain, he decided that he would take a break from all four I’m communities. However, the last I spoke with him he did express interest in being recommended again however, when I followed up with him, I didn’t hear back again.

I appreciate you recommending that we consider Dr. Vila for recommendation. If you happen to have any contact info for her,  please send me a private message with that info. I will reach out to her and attempt to learn more.

    Best wishes,

    Bill

I’m scheduled for a HT late January with Dr Vila so will hopefully keep the forum informed, she did Lorenzo’s hair transplants. Suppose if she’s good enough for him then I’ll take that. I believe a doctor called Bruno Ferrari from Portugal has replaced her at Dr Lorenzo’s practice.

lul some of you guys are grossly overreacting. I guarantee if you were on the other side of collecting bills or an account that had say 6 months at least to pay and still went overdue you'd think differently. It would be great if they did work something out but I suspect better communication may have helped in the short term too.

I honestly don't think its so bad for Legend either. Especially considering he keeps his hair long FUT would suit him and Hasson would do great work for him. Hopefully their waiting list isn't too extensive. I would have considered Baubac again also.

Jean, look at it logically, if you were waiting on payment for several months and you were advised the monies were on their way within a day or two would you decline the payment? I certainly wouldn’t.

Obviously money is the motivator, this is cosmetic surgery. When you go to work, is money not the motivator? It’s silly to even bring this up. That doesn’t mean you don’t take pride in what you do or even work ethically, but acting like this is a charity is ridiculous. The agreement between patient and surgeon is to pay for the service provided. If the agreement is to pay before the procedure, then the patient must comply otherwise there is another patient willing and waiting.

With that said, I do sympathize with Legend, he’s actually a good guy and I know he was excited about getting the surgery done, it was an unfortunate event. I know Dr. Diep personally and he’s the kind of guy who takes pride in his work and try’s to help his patients as best he can. If legend were to set up a consultation with him and explain what happened I’m sure he can reach an agreement and understanding. Legend let me know if you’d like me to reach out to Dr. Diep for you.

You should read what you post we’re now back to money again, whoever mentioned “charity” you’re missing my very simple point, there’s no flexibility in Dr Diep’s approach. In an act of kindness/understanding he could easily have moved the goalposts but he didn’t, by your response you’ve endorsed his business philosophy, not nice.

    Raker,

Of course it’s all about money, do you actually think hair restoration is a charity? I could understand if we were having a discussion about feeding the homeless or the American Red Cross. But hair transplant surgery is a cosmetic elective procedure and at the end of the day,  those who can pay for it, can undergo the procedure. Otherwise, doctors wouldn’t do it.

Now don’t get me wrong… I’m not saying that doctors don’t care about their patients. Of course they do and they want the best for them.   But, they do expect to be paid and if they can’t get paid, then they can’t proceed with the procedure.

Now I will admit, I personally think the clinic should have done something to work something out especially since legend  stated that the money was there. Perhaps he could’ve done something to prove the money was there by showing an account statement?   Perhaps that may have satisfied the clinic? I really don’t know how  much conversation and negotiation there was however, I do think that something should have been worked out rather than just seeing the procedure get canceled.

But don’t make a mistake in thinking that hair transplant surgery is a charity. It is an elective cosmetic procedure that most people don’t get or have money for.   The lucky few that do undergo the procedure and doctors get paid well for it. And they should.

Bill, thanks for the response. I don’t remember referring to this case as a charity perhaps you can remind me of when I did? I understand business and its needs my point was simply the rigidity of Dr Diep’s approach, in business there are times that you show some understanding to a patient’s circumstances, this was not evident, period. To me this is not about who’s right and who’s wrong but about assisting the patient towards a suitable & realistic solution for all involved. Anyway, keep up the good work.

  5. Melvin, your analogy of queuing for a pumpkin pie versus the financial & contractual obligations of a hair transplant is absolutely ridiculous. Again based on the information presented - surgery kept informed of monies en route, deposit paid, agreement in place, date booked, time off work etc etc etc for the sake of 24 hours I for one would not deny somebody their allocated slot for “cosmetic” surgery. That’s why in my view money is the motivator, at least can we both agree it’s a business.

  6. Based on the information provided it seems harsh for Dr Diep to cancel, undoubtedly he made the final call. Another example of it’s all about the money. I struggle to understand the inflexibility given the fact this surgery was booked & deposit paid as per conditions of the contract many months in advance, another twenty four hours shouldn’t be a deal breaker. Suppose when you have a waiting list as long as his you can do what you want, business as usual then.

    Hi Bill,

I've been following this forum for years and Dr Lorenzo has always stood out as being one of the best FUE surgeons. I first heard of him when he came to the UK and was recommended here. I'm aware he doesn't want to be part of this community as he has plenty of patients in Spain already - hence his waiting list is 10months.

For the last few years I've been following the Spanish forums and I have also seen very good results from Dr Ximena Vila, who has been working alongside Lorenzo since 2009.

She is also very good and I've seen that her hairlines are more youthful than lorenzos.

Her new website, which is still under construction is ximenavila.com

Bill, do you think it would be worth approaching her for recommendation as she will be looking for clients? Just a thought.

Hopefully come February of 2019 I can provide the evidence of her work, booked in for late January. I get the feeling she will book out very quickly given her results working with Lorenzo & pricing.

  8. In my opinion you may want to consider looking further afield than the UK, I’ve seen little to impress me. I live in Ireland and I’m leaning towards Spain/Belgium for surgery, for FUE 3-5 Euro per graph seems to be the norm, happy hunting. Remember, it’s a marathon not a sprint to find the right Surgeon, do your due diligence.

Well for one having the space to accommodate 8 patients is different from doing 8 surgeries per day. In fact, what you just described is an assumption not a statement or fact. I don’t see the need to confirm with the clinic since they never said they would perform 8 surgeries a day that was your assumption. Payam is at 7 months therefore, it’s too soon to even call his procedure a failure and HT has been offered a free touch-up which he declined. In fact, it seems his only goal is to try and undermine the clinic in every thread and post possible. I understand being disappointed and unhappy with results, but you get further dealing directly with  the clinic rather than trying to muddy up the clinics reputation.

Melvin, let’s get real, assuming that Asmed are relocating, to justify the financial & capital outlay will not be to accommodate additional patients Erdogan is running a business for financial gain, he’s going to up the throughput, period. That said, we all understand what you get, tech driven with limited personal involvement. Time to put a lid on this thread, getting tiresome.

    Hi all!

I am trying to calculate how long I will have to stay near the clinic after I have the surgery done. Can anybody help with the below please?

    1) How long after the surgery is it before the staples come out?

    2) Can anybody take them out or is it better to get the same clinic who put them in take them out again? I am guessing the latter as they will be used to it but thought I will ask anyway.

    3) Once the staples are out, can I go home then or do I have to wait around for something else?

    4) Finally, what are the factors involved in if the staples themselves leave a "railway line" looking scar?

    Thanks in advance!

Out of interest what surgeon did you settle for? I’m waiting for Dr Vila to confirm availability for surgery.
