I appreciate your input.  Since we do aim to recommend surgeons that are doing top notch work, if there are some not recommended by this community that you know of that you think we should consider, please go ahead and list them.

You said there are a lot of them, however, most of the ones people mention on a regular basis are already recommended with the exception of a few. But, we are certainly open to considering others for recommendation so please list those you know about  and we can go ahead and contact them about being considered.

    Thanks,

    Bill

A few that come to mind, though all European based. However, they may not want the exposure on this forum but examples of their work is available elsewhere.

Spain - Dr Lorenzo, Dr Vila, Dr Freitas & Dr Couto

Turkey - Dr Keser, Dr Kaan & Dr Oztan

    Belgium - Dr Feriduni

    UK - Dr Ball

    Portugal - Dr Ferreira

    Cheers

honestly my thought on it is: just pick one of the top surgeons that are recommended on this site (some more than others). The rest is out of your hands and is almost luck.

Im not saying to not do your research, but all of these guys are qualified in one way or another. It just comes down to preference and pros and cons

There are many top surgeons not recommended on this website that are worth considering but as you say beyond choosing the surgeon we’re in the hands of the gods.

  3. Firstly, for various reasons not even the ‘best’ surgeons always produce great results. I’m also UK based and have looked at all the usual suspects and in my opinion there’s better abroad and at a more competitive price. You’ll find loads of info on this website so take your time and plan carefully.

Based on the area drawn in red 2500 grafts at a density of roughly 45/cm sq seems reasonable. Who is the surgeon?

your hair thickness seems above average. To achieve the illusion of density it’s been said u need 50% or higher of ur native density. Do u know what ur native or donor density is?

Surgeon is Dr Vila (see above post) native density is approx 80 graphs cm2, the red line was from another consultation in the UK and it’s not entirely to my liking but purely a guide, my aim for the consultation was to make sure I was a suitable candidate for a HT. I’m UK based and always accepted I was going to travel to get the right surgeon for me.

you are lucky to have a 10k donor zone, congrats on that lol, i've read that you can get 70 to 80 grafts per cm2 but it can lead to complications, what surgeon have you chosen?

Scheduled with Dr Vila early 2019 who worked with Dr Lorenzo for nine years and did his transplants, has set up her own practice in Madrid a few months ago. I’ve been told that 78-80 grafts cm2 is completely unrealistic. I sort of agree as my donor area is currently 80.

Great opinion as usual Jean. I actually think that looks better than if it were mega dense. More natural. There is usually some thinning in these areas in men anyway. I have seen other work where it is denser than the native hair behind it and it looks silly when cut short. Nobody knows what will happen in the future, medication or otherwise, so I would rather err on the side of caution.

Not sure what your point is, no mega density mentioned in my submission, I was simply responding to the information presented. With reference to the thining of native hair your theory could apply to anywhere after a HT not just the temporal area.

    @Raker,

Thanks for expressing your concern. However, Jean  made a great point about many surgeons not doing temporal work or at least presenting it but you have to remember, that many patients simply don’t need it or requested. And as you can see, the clinic responded to your concern and even showed an example of some temple work in his reply. So clearly they do this kind of work when requested although they admit that it’s rare because it’s often not needed by their patients.

Dr. Alcaide  he may have only just started presenting examples of his work and results here on this forum. However, his work and results are well represented in other places online. Moreover, he was trained and is backed by Coalition member Dr. Bisanga who is fully confident in his work and results.   Certainly that says something as well but you know us.   We never approve a doctor for recommendation just on someone’s word. We need to see the  work and results for ourselves.   But I’d say in this case, it certainly producing top notch  results.

    Best wishes,

    Bill

My comment was more of an observation on the variation of work presented and in fairness to the clinic they responded with an example of their temporal work, can’t ask for more.

  8. Seanson’s greetings all

Scheduled for surgery early 2019 (frontal & temporal 2500 graphs) and would appreciate the forum’s guidance re minimum graph density to the transplanted area after surgery. On various threads it seems to vary from 30 - 60 graphs per cm2 - my surgeon is advising that 40 - 45 graphs is the target and will achieve a good result. My donor hair is dark brown, 68 microns with a slight curve. I have 10,000+ donor graphs available so should I push for greater density? Thanks

Raker, do you know how long DR Vila's waiting list is?

Good choice btw, I'm looking at her and Dr Lorenzo as well.

    Splitting Hairs

She started in her own premises a couple of months ago, I think the waiting list is @3 months, she’s half the price (€2.5 per graph Lorenzo €5 - after 2000 graphs they both charge €2.5 per graph) I know money shouldn’t be the deciding factor but for me they’re both producing very similar results using the same methodology so there’s a saving of €5k, bit of a no-brainer. With Dr Vila you need to sort out your own accommodation, no big deal really.

    Hey all,

Just wondered if there were any UK patients of Dr Lorenzo or Dr Vila who wouldn't mind meeting for a coffee to discuss the experience - and for me to see the results in reality.

I'm basically set on a HT with one of these doctors and have seen lots of examples - and seen Dr Lorenzo - but I've never actually seen the results of any patients in the flesh (having been able to compare to pictures how they were before).

I live in Oxford but can travel pretty much anywhere in England and Wales.

PM me or message here, if you would be so kind.

    Thanks.

    Chris

Ask me in a couple of months, I’m scheduled for surgery late January/ early February with Dr Vila. Dr Lorenzo has a guy called Dr Bruno Ferrari working with him now who had/has his own practice in Portugal. My guess is he’ll tap into Lorenzo’s expertise for a while then go back to his own practice.
