  1. Thanks for the suggestion. Do you have any before/after pics of yourself?
  2. I think I'm going to go strip, but really have no idea what I need. I'm VERY green at this...
  3. Thanks Blake. I guess my follow-up question is how exactly do I know which one is the best? I'm not exactly sure the process I should be taking to determine who the most skilled doctor is. Price isn't a concern, as I'll pay top dollar, but am really scared about someone making me look like a "freak show". Any advice you could offer on steps I should take to find a really good doc that isn't going to botch things? Thank you!
  4. I'm currently living in Northen California until the end of May, 2013. While I'm here, I would like to get an HT by a reputable surgeon. Are there any quality HT surgeons near Northern California? I realize that something like this shouldn't be based on convenience, but are there any in California? Thanks for the help everyone. This forum is such a great resource.
  5. Are we getting any closer to cloning and/or actually growing hair yet? I haven't posted here in a year or 2... and wondering if there has been any sort of development. Getting thinner as we speak.... Thanks
  6. Hey guys, I saw this on the news last night. Have you heard about this? New hair loss treatment on the horizon? Sounds really promising, although I'm sure it'll take ages before it hits the market, if it truly will work.
  7. Jeeze, ok, now FUE sounds awful... after reading that page. Ok, follow-up question then. My wife and I are taking a vacation at the end of March and I'd like to schedule the vacation in a location where "the best" overall hair surgeon is located, so I can stop by for an appointment and speak with them. Is there a doctor or 2 that are overwhelmingly more spoken of than the rest? It's tough to narrow down who to go with when it seems as though everyone is mentioning a different doctor. Thanks.
  8. Hey all, I'm "still" considering and HT many years after I become a forum member here. My hairline keeps receeding. I turn 32 in May. I'm currently a Norwood 3 probably, with just overall thinning everywhere. My fears are: 1. Future loss after the HT so that things look really strange after a couple of years. I do not want to take meds. 2. Shock loss to where my current hair never grows back and the end result after 3-5 years from now is hair that looks worse than if I never got an HT Could you guys provide suggestions/comments regarding those? Should I even consider an HT? Is there a specific doctor that is better at FUE? I "think" I'd prefer FUE simply because of the lack of a big scar. Thoughts? Thank you so much.
  9. A friend who lives in the area told me that some local celebs see this guy: NeoGraft and it's been rumored that Tom Brady visited him for a consult. Do you guys know of him and is he reputable? The NEOGraft process mentioned on that page sounded really great, but obviously that's what anyone selling it would want you to think. Is it good? Have you heard of it and him? Thanks
  10. A friend of mine told me about this the other day. Seems too good to be true, but have you guys heard of it? "Neograft" Here's the doc he showed me: NeoGraft (promotional link removed)
  11. Hey, thanks for the replies guys. And THANKS a lot for your message nsuede. I'm definitely planning on following how your HT goes and would totally love talking to you about it all after you go through with it. Are you planning on taking propecia after your HT? That's the one thing that has really stopped me from getting an HT. Way too many negative things about that drug to make it worth it for me. Am checking out your blog now. Thanks again!
  12. I posted another thread here about FUE, but wanted to followup with a simple question to ask which coalition surgeons perform FUE, specifically, which "U.S." surgeons perform FUE. Thanks!
  13. Ok, I've done a bit more research tonight and came across some youtube videos from a guy that had an FUE with Dr. Alan Bauman. He "seems" very good and has been on CNN and seems to be a well-known surgeon. I have no idea though. Guys like this could obviously just be smooth talkers. Do any of your know anything about him? Here's the video(s) I'm referring to: Thanks for the advice.
  14. Thanks for the post Spex. I took a look at all of the FUEs in that thread you posted for Dr. Feller. It seemed like many of the pictures were only the post op pics, and not the end result OR the result after, say, 6 months time. So, it was tough for me to really get a feel for how realistic FUE would be for me. Judging by the pictures of others, it looks like I could use maybe 1000-1300 grafts. I just turned 31 a couple of weeks ago. My father is 59 and has thin hair and receeding in the front only. His hair is curly, whereas mine is straight. Because his hair is curly, you can't really see his scalp (in the non-receding areas). My grandfather had similar hair, in that it was just receding in the front and temples. Neither are/were anywhere near a NW6. I'm guessing my father is a NW3a And am guessing I am probably a NW2 with thinning everywhere. I believe the overall thinning is due to taking acutane about 6 years ago. I can post pictures, but it's tough to take a picture of my own hair from various angles. One thing to note is that I will not be taking meds after surgery, as propecia scares me and the potential side effects aren't worth it for me. Rogaine is also too big of a pain to mess with. What exactly are the downsides to FUE? As I see it, they are: 1. You have to shave a huge patch in the back of your head, so you look absolutely ridiculous for months, unless you just shave your entire head... in which case, I would definitely look ridiculous and people would wonder what in the world happened to me. Is it necessary/required to shave the back of the head? 2. You lose ALOT of the graphs that are extracted, so you end up with many wasted hairs, so long term, if you believe you're going to keep getting more and more bald, you're potentially shooting yourself in the foot by wasting hair. 3. It's more expensive at like $12,000 for the graphs I'm guessing I would need. 4. Only Dr. Feller does FUE and he's not in the U.S. (is that even correct?) Am I mistaken with any of these? Thanks for the info everyone!
  15. Hey all, FUE sounds like a quick/easy way to fill in the temple areas, which is mainly where my hair loss is. I'm 31 and it just keeps on receding. Could those of you that have had FUE done, please tell me your thoughts on it? Meaning, are you happy with the results etc? And I can also check out your HT blog in your sig. That would help me ALOT. Thanks so much!
  16. Hey guys, thanks a lot for your responses. Here's the current gameplan then... 1. Have another child in the next year or so 2. Wait until I'm 35 and get an HT IF the histogen (I think that's what it's called) hair growing development is actually live and being sold to the public. Get the HT. Get Histogen treatment. Get off Propecia. Live happily ever after. My guess is there won't be any better alternative to hairloss by the time I'm 35 (I'm 31 right now), let alone by the time I'm 40. But who knows. Maybe my recession and thinning will stop miraculously. Anyway, thanks for all of your advice!
  17. Hey Bill, thanks a lot. Ok, quick follow-up question... Let's say I got an HT, then went on Propecia. Then, 2 years later decided to go off of it, would I lose a LARGE amount of hair (i.e. all the hair that Propecia saved me during those 2 years) or would I essentially just start relosing hair at the same rate I was before Propecia... basically buying me a couple more years. Does that make sense? Thanks so much. This forum has been an amazing resource.
  18. by the way, just took a look at your HT and NICE! Are you really happy with Dr. Charles' work? I'm 31, btw, and would love to have a hairline like yours man. Awesome stuff.
  19. Hey Jimmy, I have not, but man... there are ALOT of negative comments about Propecia all over the internet. Looks like much much more negative than positive. Plus, I'm sure it's really bad on your kidneys if taken for a long time. Do you take Propecia?
  20. I've been considering getting an HT for a long time and am still really on the fence. I'm definitely receding more and more every year. I turn 31 this May. The main reason I don't want an HT is because I won't be taking Propecia afterwords. Way too many side effects to make things worth it for me. I feel like getting an HT would be somewhat painful, but the pain would subside in a couple of weeks and things would only get better from there. What are your thoughts? Is getting an HT and then not taking Propecia setting myself up for VERY bad things in the future? Thanks!
  21. Aren't there pretty crazy side effects from taking Propecia, and especially taking it longterm? I would get an HT if I didn't have to take Propecia. All the side effect stories on here and elsewhere scare the heck out of me.
  22. Hmmm... That's very interesting. I'd be curious to hear some of the veteran forum member's opinions/thoughts on this. Obviously those articles want to make it sound better than it really is, but what are your thoughts, for those of you guys that know MUCH more about HT's etc. than I do. Thanks!
  23. Hey guys, I seem to post this question once every 6 months or so. Are we any closer to this at all? Any new news or anything? Or is it the same old, same old, "in 5-10 years it will be possible." I'm due to turn 31 this May and am really starting to notice my poor hairline receding, receding, and receding some more. The reason I'm not opting for a transplant is because I'm afraid of taking propecia, which I've heard of WAY too many side effects to make it worth taking. Anyway, any new news? Thanks
  24. This is exactly the same sort of work I'd like to have done. Am anxious to see some pictures from others that have had similar work done.
